R.D. Kirksey, Jr.
GALVESTON — R.D. Kirksey, Jr., 53, departed this life on Friday, December 24, 2004, at the UTMB Hospital.
Visitation will be held today December 29th from 4-6 p.m., at E. R. Johnson Family Mortuary, followed by a wake service from 7-8:00 p.m., at St. John Baptist Church.
Funeral service will held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, December 30, 2004, at St. John Baptist Church with Rev. Louis Simpson, Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview.
R.D. was born October 1, 1951, in Galveston, to R.D. Kirksey, Sr. and Mary Agnes Kirksey. He attended Galveston public school and was a 1970 graduate of Ball High School. He later attended College of the Mainland and the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his license as Chemical Dependency Counselor. He also was a licensed Hypnotherapist. He was employed at Project Life Row in Houston at the time of his death. For the past three years he attended Abundant Life School of Ministry and was an evangelism coordinator at the St. John church. He also was a board member of the Galveston Boys' Rites of Passage, owner of Sound Masters and Nurture Hypnotherapy and Counseling Service and co-owner of Kirkson Optimum Marketing.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He leaves with cherished memories, his father, R.D. Kirksey, Sr.; sons, Renaurd and Roshaurd Kirksey, Roshon Morgan (Tamica); daughters, Resa Chambers, Rhonda Sanders, Tricia Curry and Kimberly Ruiz; grandchildren, Brittany, Justus, Jahleel, Mercy Kirksey, Roshon II and Trevor Morgan; brother, Lambert "Boscoe" Kirksey; sisters, Shirley Lee Majors and Ruby Lee; Goddaughter, Jamaya L. Jefferson; very devoted friend, caretaker and business partner, Vanessa Jefferson (Berry); special longtime friend, Gaynell Morgan; host of other relative, coworkers, and friends.

Edward Columbus Martorell
SANTA FE — Mr. Edward Columbus Martorell passed from this life Monday, December 27, 2004, in Santa Fe.
Born October 13, 1929, in San Antonio, Mr. Martorell had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1957, previously of Galveston. He had been employed as a sheetmetal worker with the Sheetmetal Workers Union # 54 since 1954 and was of the catholic faith. Mr. Martorell will be lovingly remembered as a man who enjoyed working with his hands and the love he had for his dogs.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Marie Cecile (Hart) Martorell; parents, Angelo and Emma (Mariani) Martorell; brothers Paul, Pete and Joe Martorell.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Edward "Butch" and Josie Martorell of Santa Fe, Fred and Vivian Martorell of Texas City; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Brad Price, Judy and Leo Mundine, all of Santa Fe; brothers, Angelo "Nino" Martorell and Frank Martorell, both of Galveston; sisters and brother-in-law, Theresa Franzen of Santa Fe, Mary and Jim Flex of Dickinson; grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa and Eric Monroe, Amanda and Shawn Hayes, Michael Martorell, Ryan Martorell, Nicole Mundine, Holly Mundine, Patrick Mundine, Meagan Mundine; great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Monroe.
Funeral services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 30, 2004, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Kathryn J. Morton officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Bob Flex, Michael Helfenstein, Clarence "Sonny" Kurtz, JoJo Martorell, Michael Martorell and Ryan Martorell.

John E. Terrill was born July 19, 1938 and passed away December 25, 2004.
John retired from the U.S. Air Force and then served as a peace officer for more than 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty; 3 children; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 29, 2004, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Chapel services will follow Thursday, December 30, 2004, at 10:00 a.m., with interment following at Forest Park East cemetery.

Nathaniel Walker, 53, passed away December 21, 2004. Burial services will be held today, at 11:00 a.m., at the Harris County cemetery, 5434 Oates Rd., in Houston.
Nathaniel is survived by his son, Nathaniel, Jr.; brothers, Leroy, Roosevelt, Sadallie, William, Vernon Perkins and Hermon Johnson; sisters, Sally, Janice Johnson, Sharon and Wanda; grandchildren and other relatives.

TEXAS CITY — Funeral Services for Mr. Randell Anderson, Jr., fondly known as “Plunk” will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel in La Marque. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Anderson, a retired Merchant Seaman, was born September 21, 1944 in Richmond, California to Randell Anderson, Sr. and Octavia Swan Anderson. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Timothy Anderson and son, Randell Anderson, III.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Margo Haywood of Galveston; a caring step-daughter, Dana Semien (Paul) of Texas City; sisters and brothers, Rev. Florence E. Canfield, 91, of Texas City, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2004 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home with Rev. Grayson Glass officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park.
Mrs. Canfield was born May 26, 1913 in Portland, Indiana. She was the first known manager of American National Insurance Company in Galveston.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Eugene “Honey” Canfield, a son, Arthur Wayne Jordan and a daughter, Dorothy Helen Jordan.
Survivors include her daughter, Rita Ousley of Tyler, Texas; her brother, Richard Gilreath and wife, Juanita; her sister, Helen Yates; grand-daughters, Tomme Jordan and husband Mark Boudreaux, Jean Hill and husband, Greg, Brenda O’Neal and husband, Frank, Becky Wright and husband, Earnest; her grandson, Bruce Ousley and wife, June; twelve great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; a special friend, Patty Frye and numerous other relatives and friends, a large church family and her beloved pet Missy.
Pallbearers will be David Gilreath, Bruce Clawson, Bruce Ousley, Dean Davis, Matthew O’Neal and Greg Hill.

Sgt. Barry Kenneth Meza, 23, U.S. Army, was killed in Shuaybah, Kuwait, December 19, 2004. He attended schools in Seguin, Texas where he was active in the Naval R.O.T.C., and graduated from Clear Creek H.S. He was preceded in death by his father Richard Meza and he is survived by his mother, Tammy Brazle and her husband Mark; grandparents, Vera & Julian Meza and Helen & Roy Elliott; sons, Richard & Barry Meza, Jr.; sister, Rachael Meza-Cantu and her husband Domingo. Visitation will be at the Jack Rowe Funeral Home, from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday evening with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1612 E. Walker, League City, Texas. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet cemetery.

Marian Helen Myers, 64, of Galveston, passed away Saturday, December 25, 2004, at Gulf Health Care Center.
Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 28th, at Grace Memorial Park in Santa Fe with Rev. Herb Polinard officiating.
Marian was born April 11, 1940, in Texas City, Texas. She attended Galveston public schools and was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of Central Christian Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, B.L. and Susie Myers, and three sisters: Blanche Wilcox, Dorothy Brown, and Betty Seal.
She is survived by three sons: Kenneth W. Keleman, Charles H. Keleman, Jr., and Joseph L. Keleman, all of Galveston; four grandchildren; one sister, Joann Christopher and husband, Chris; and three brothers: Don Myers and wife, Maxine; Charles Myers and wife, Doris; and Artie “Wimpy” Myers and wife, Linda; and brothers-in-law Tubby WIlcox and Kenneth Seal.
