Lynn Reynolds Clift
GALVESTON - Lynn Reynolds Clift, 80, of Galveston, died July 22, 2003. Prior to moving to Galveston in 2001, she was a resident of Hide-A-Way Lake in Lindale, Texas for 30 years.
Visitation will be from 12 noon until 2 p.m., Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Macer-Hall Funeral Home in New Castle, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. with burial to immediately follow.
Born August 11, 1922, in Indiana, she moved to Texas in 1970, and received an associate degree in business from Tyler Junior College in 1972. She worked at Mary V's in Tyler and was employed by the State of Texas, Aid to Dependent Children, before retiring in 1980.
Mrs. Clift is preceded in death by her husband, William M. Clift; daughter, Mary Linda Clift; and sister, Margaret G. Taylor.
She is survived by son, William L. Clift and wife, Sue; and granddaughters, Caroline E. Clift and Courtney L. Clift, of Zionsville, Indiana; daughter, Ellen C. Otte and husband, John, of Galveston; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Clift and Mary Clift Morris of New Castle, Indiana; and brother-in-law, Homer H. Taylor, of Hide-A-Way Lake; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Galveston – Louise Irene Dailey, 79, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2003, at UTMB Hospital. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on November 20, 1923.
She is survived by her daughter Jolene LeBlanc and husband Steve of Galveston; sons Rickey Dailey and wife Jenny of Austin, Mark Dailey and Linda Forney of Portland, Texas; sisters Katherine Rush and husband, Percy of Orange, Texas, Alvina (Sis) Day of Pasadena, Texas, Mary Pierce of Port Arthur, Texas and Joyce Towles of Houston, Texas; sister-in-laws Nell Dailey of Groves, Texas and Mildred Dailey of Port Acres, Texas; grandchildren Alexis and Natalie Dailey of Austin, Texas, Kyle, Eric and Jolie LeBlanc of Galveston, Texas.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 24, 2003, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with a Mass of Christian burial to begin at 10 a.m. with Father Frank Fabj officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. at Greenlawn cemetery, 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, Texas.

KATY, TEXAS - Johnny David Smith, 44, of Katy, Texas passed away July 19, 2003.
Funeral services will be held today at 10 a.m. at Providence Christian Church, 8727 Gaines Road in Sugarland, Texas. Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Forest Park East in League City, Texas.
J. D. is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy C. Smith.
He is survived by his wife of nine years Diana; two young daughters, Emma and Clara; father Johnny T. Smith of Luling, Texas; two sisters, Johnette Duff of Santa Monica, California and Judy Soloski of Ovalo, Texas; niece Kristi Villasana of League City, Texas and numerous other relatives, and a circle of close friends.

Fidencio Rangel Sendejas, Sr.
HITCHCOCK - Fidencio Rangel, "PoPo", Sendejas, Sr., 74, went to join his daughter, Virginia Ann Sendejas and also one of his grandsons, Isaac Sendejas, in Heaven on Sunday, July 20, 2003, after a very courageous battle with cancer.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 10114 Hwy. 6, Hitchcock, Texas at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 24, 2003, with Fr. John Kappe, as Celebrant. Burial will follow services Thursday at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Dickinson, Texas. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2003, followed by the reciting of The Rosary, also at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mr. Sendejas’ family will be receiving friends for visitation at the church Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Sendejas was born November 16, 1928, in Mackey, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Margarito and Genoveva Sendejas, his brothers, Louis and Robert Sendejas, brothers-in-law, Leon Broussard and Hoss Mata and also one of his sisters-in-law, Rafaela Sendejas.
He leaves behind many wonderful memories with his loving wife of 54 years, Ofelia Garibay Sendejas and his children; Dora and Pedro Villarreal of Galveston, Arthur and Sonia Sendejas of Santa Fe, Texas, Fidencio Sendejas, Jr. of Hitchcock, Texas, Amber L. Sendejas also of Hitchcock, Texas, Anna and Cristobal Flores, Sr. of Santa Fe, Texas, David and Joan Sendejas of Hitchcock, Texas and Norma and Henry Ruelas of La Marque, Texas. Sharing in his great loss, also, are Mr. Sendejas’ fourteen grandchildren, Kimberly and Julie Villarreal, Eric and Yvette Sendejas, Margo and Cristobal Flores, Jr., Shellie, Casey, Sarah and Cortney Sendejas, Jennifer Ruelas and Henry, Jr., Robert and Samantha Ruelas and one great-grandchild, Alexis J. Cermeno. Mr. Sendejas also leaves behind other loving family, brothers, Jesse Sendejas of Galveston, Tony Sendejas, Sr. and wife, Lupe of La Marque, Texas, Danny Sendejas, Sr. and wife, Margie of Galveston and Max Sendejas and wife, Dora of Alvin, Texas, his sisters, Janie Broussard of Houston, Texas and Olivia Mata of La Marque, Texas, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, a host of other loving family members and many good friends.
Mr. Sendejas has been a resident of Hitchcock, Texas for 49 years. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Mr. Sendejas was employed by the Galveston Wharves Railroad for well over 40 years, retiring as Supervisor. He was a member in good standing with ILA Local #20, LULAC, and also the Woodmen of the World. Mr. Sendejas also took proudly his membership and involvement with the Civil Defense on the island.
To his family he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and also friend to many. Those that knew him, knew of his generous and thoughtful ways. He never met a stranger but always a friend. He was an individual who, when called upon, would help anyone any way that he could. To him, his family was his life. Along with his wife, he built a solid family foundation for which to raise his children. He instilled in them a quality of life that they could pass on to their children. For these reasons and so many more, he will never be forgotten.
Pallbearers will be Eric Sendejas, Cristobal Flores, Jr., Guy Mata, Jr., Paul Mata, Richard Sendejas, Ralph Sendejas, Danny Sendejas, Jr., and Walter Sendejas. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Ruelas, Henry Ruelas, Jr., James Daly and Jacquen Galvan.
He will be sadly missed yet his memories and his love for his family will live on in their hearts always.
Mr. Sendejas’ family would like to take this opportunity to give a very special thank you to Dr. Michael Boyars, Dr. Prashanth Sunkureddi and the entire medical staff of The University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, especially, nursing staff, Debbie Garza and Mary Menchaca. Also a special thank you to Amed Community Hospice of Texas City. Your wonderful care and attention given during this difficult time is most appreciated. We will never forget what all you did to make a difference to our family. Thank you, again, for your generosity.

Edward Odair Wheeler
HITCHCOCK - Mr. Edward Odair Wheeler passed from this life Monday afternoon, July 21, 2003, in Friendswood with his family at his side.
Edward Odair Wheeler was born in San Augustine, Texas, July 28, 1918. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Lycurgus and Ollie Wheeler and sisters, Blanche Pulliam and Roveene Winn and two brothers, Jim Lee and T.L. Wheeler.
As a youth, Mr. Wheeler was a member of the CCC and joined the Army at Fort Crockett in Galveston at the age of 18, where he served in WWII in Europe. When discharged, he was a linesman for Houston Lighting and Power and a chief operator for Monsanto Chemical Company until his retirement in 1983. He served on the Hitchcock school board and was a charter member of the John Mitchell Masonic Lodge #1401. From childhood, Mr. Wheeler had always loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mae; children, Edward Wheeler and his wife, Judy, Joan Blakeman, Carolyn and her husband, Steve Day, Angie and her husband, Clark Thornton, Brian Day and his wife, Michelle and Chris Day; grandchildren are Kelly Blakeman, Stefanee Cibulski and her husband, Ray, Grifin Goldsmith and Claine Thornton; great-grandchildren, Carlee and Cooper Cibulski, Maurice Evans, Madison Mason, Matthias and Austin Day.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2003, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Vicar David Kirkaldy of All Saints Episcopal Church officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Park East cemetery.
Pallbearers will be A. G., Robert, William and Ray Trapani, Clifford Adams and Raymond O’Donahoe. Honorary Pallbearer will be Cleveland Howard.

HITCHCOCK – Mrs. Lula Mae Nunn passed from this life Wednesday morning, July 23, 2003, in Texas City.
Born December 31, 1905, in Runge, Texas, Mrs. Nunn had been a resident of Hitchcock since 1947, previously of Austin. A former schoolteacher, she was also a registrar with American National Insurance Company for 20 years. Mrs. Nunn enjoyed camping, traveling, crocheting, working in her yard and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Nunn; parents, James F. and Lela L. Wilson; two brothers and a sister.
Survivors include her daughter, Betty J. Rutledge; grandchildren, Lyla Prino, Andy Tholen and wife, Donna, Linda Jo Click and her husband, Jim; twelve great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren; niece, Joan McMillan and her husband, Owen Brotherton and nephew, James Stockton and his wife, Judy.
Funeral services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, July 25, 2003, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Reverend Woody Berry officiating.
Honorary Casketbearers will be her loving great-grandsons.
