QUITMAN, TEXAS - Doyle Emmert, 81, passed away in Tyler, Texas on September 18, 2003.
He was born February 4, 1922, in Gurden, Arkansas and has lived in Quitman the past seventeen years. He was a retired chemical operator for Union Carbide Chemical Company, a member of the Masonic Lodge in Dickinson, Texas, a U.S. Navy Veteran and enjoyed traveling with his friends.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, September 20, 2003 at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola. Services will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday September 21, 2003, at Rose Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Allred officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Rose Hill Baptist Church Deacons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Emmert and Myrtle Williams Emmert, his wife, Mrs. Laverne Emmert and one sister.
He is survived by his daughter Charlene Fleener of Norfolk, Virginia; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Dorothy King Helton
Dorothy King Helton, born March 4, 1917, to William Lovelace King and Ola Belle Hataway, went home to be with the Lord, our God, on Sunday, September 14, 2003.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband and partner S. J. Helton Jr. Dorothy leaves behind a loving and devoted son, S. J. Helton, III; Arletta Goodall, who Dorothy considered as a daughter; Mildred Calhoun, sister; Phyllis Guynes, special friend who traveled the world with Dorothy; Beverly and Travis McLain, her niece whom she dearly loved. Dorothy leaves behind many loved ones, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a sixty-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 291, past President of Chinar Grotto, She was elected Businesswoman of the Year, for Houston, Texas during WWII. Those who knew her will miss her greatly. Dorothy was a very special lady to many people, she enjoyed travel, loved the time she spent with her family and took great pride in her cooking and baking. Her son always told her she was a "pretty good cooker" She loved so many and asked for so little.
Visitation began at 2p.m. Friday, September 19, 2003, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2003, at Forest Park Lawndale Family Chapel with interment to follow in Forest Park Lawndale cemetery. "May the Light be bright to lead her Home".

DICKINSON — Vera Elizabeth Paaske, 87, resident of Dickinson, Texas passed away September 18, 2003, at her residence.
She was born July 30, 1916, in Rosebud, Texas to Francis Edward and Lila Mae Beckham Tubbs. Vera was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 22, 2003, at 10:00 a.m., in the Chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas, with Reverend Randy Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at South Park cemetery in Pearland, Texas. Visitation will be Sunday, September 21, 2003, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Survivng Vera is her husband, Frank Dick.

ALGOA – Martha Steveson Wilson of Algoa passed away on Friday, September 19, 2003, at Mainland Regional Medical Center in Texas City, Texas.
She was born on July 27, 1934, in Sulpher Springs, Texas to James and Dovie Steveson. Martha was a retired teacher with a B.S. in Education, and a M.Ed in Library Certification.
Chapel services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at 10:00 a.m. at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas.
Memorials may be made to Hospice or Alvin Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund.

Jerome Wiley Morris Jr.
DICKINSON – Jerome Wiley Morris, Jr., 77, passed away, September 14, 2003, at his residence in Dickinson, Texas.
He was born November 28, 1925, in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas to Jerome and Lorrene Morris, Jr. Jerome served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II, in the Pacific Theatre and was a truck driver with Batavia Trucking Company for over five years. He was also a member of the Kindom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie J. Morris; two daughters, Patricia L. Sallee and husband, Wayne and Rebecca L. Muth and husband, Gary; sons, Timothy J. Morris and wife, Rita and Patrick W. Morris and wife, Alice; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild and his great uncle, Hershel Davis.
Memorial services will be held later.
