WEST TEXAS CITY - Mrs. Rosa Lee Burleson of Texas City went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 28, 2003.

Skeeter Woods

SANTA FE — Skeeter Woods, 67, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2004, after a battle with cancer at his residence, in SantaFe, Texas.

Skeeter was born October 2, 1936, in Beaumont, Texas to Daniel and Myrtle Woods. Skeeter was a member of Pine Drive Baptist Church, in Dickinson, Texas, as well as a member of the Masonic Lodge #1118, in Texas City.

Skeeter is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Myrtle Woods of Beaumont.

Skeeter is survived by his wife, Lanita Woods; daughter, Tammy and James Wooten, Terry and Donnie Gilbert, and son, Danny Woods; grandchildren, James Ray Wooten, II, Christopher Leldon Wooten, Jon Kenneth Gullette, and Michael Ryan Gullette.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 26, 2004, from 5- 8 p.m., at Forest Park East Funeral Home, in League City. Funeral Services will be conducted by Pastor Ted A. Duck of Pine Drive Baptist Church, on Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at 12:30 p.m., at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Forest Park East cemetery with Masonic gravesite services.

LA MARQUE — Mr. Charles M. Apgar resident of La Marque Texas for 55 years passed away on December 1, 2004, in Webster, Texas. Mr. Apgar was a retired vice president of Stewart Petroleum. He was affiliated with Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Mr. Apgar was in the U. S. Navy during WWII, honorary life member of M.J. Babin Jr. Council, Matthew H Wilson Assembly Knights of Columbus, served in numerous offices on local, district and state level.

TEXAS CITY — Mr. Travis Woods, Jr. departed this life Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at Mainland Medical Center Hospital in Texas City.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m., Sunday, December 5, 2004, at the Mainland Funeral Home Chapel in La Marque with Evangelist Linda Campbell, officiating Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until service time Sunday.

Mr. Woods was born January 8, 1947, in Galveston, Texas to Travis Woods, Sr. and Victoria Rivers Woods. Mr. Woods was a graduate of Lincoln High School and attended Lamar University in Beaumont. He was employed as a Fireman with the Galveston Fire Department for over 20 years.

HOUSTON — Alleyne P. Mitchell (Mrs. Johnny Mitchell) passed away Tuesday evening, the 30th of November 2004, in Houston.

"Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother left us this day in the year of our Lord, November 30, 2004. She was proceeded by her husband and our Father, Johnny Mitchell. We encourage you not to mourn her death, but to rejoice her life and the lives she touched along the way."

Roy Edward Bailey

Roy Edward Bailey, 74 passed away on Monday, December 1, 2004 at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City, Texas. Mr. Bailey was born March 22, 1930 in Wichita, Kansas to John and Joanna Bailey. He was a retired Master Sergent in the United States Army Reserves and was a member of Knights of Columbus. He retired from Kroger as a valued employee.

Lloyd "Bo Dollar" Smith, Sr.

GALVESTON — Lloyd "Bo Dollar" Smith, Sr., born January 6, 1933, to Ronald and Lucy Smith, in Galveston, Texas.

Two years proceeding his graduation from Central High School in 1951, he married Lorraine Temple. Over the next fifteen years he was blessed with five boys and five girls, two by Evelyn Johnson. In 1957, he received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army after having served two years. His greatest work was being a disciple for the LORD. He ministered to everyone that he came in contact with.

Jamie Alline Graham

Jamie Alline Graham, loving wife, mother ,daughter and sister passed into the arms of the Lord at 10:40 a.m., December 2 ,2004.

Jamie was born April 22, 1976 in Grand Forks, North Dakota Air Force Base. She grew up and graduated high school in Alvin, married and became a mother of two children.

Growing up Jamie was talented, loved life as well as her family and friends and was strong willed. She made light of every situation and had a great sense of humor. Jamie grew up loving to play the piano, was an excellent math student, and was a best friend to any and all and loved her children, above all else. In addition, she had a strong Christian relationship with God.

Jose’ Luis Carcaño

GALVESTON — Jose Luis Carcaño, age 34, of Galveston died on Thursday, December 2, 2004, at John Sealy Hospital, in Galveston.

Funeral services are set for 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2004, at Carnes Brothers Funeral Home with Father John Paul Flajole, OFM and Reverends Enrique and Luciano Rivas officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview cemetery in Galveston. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Lillie Mae (Jones) Gates

Lillie Mae (Jones) Gates, most recently of Katy, Texas, departed this life at 1:00 a.m., on December 3, 2004. The daughter of Bev H. and Lillie Bell (Price) Jones, she was born on June 22, 1919, in the old community of Center, Houston County, Texas, near the city of Lovelady.

Lillie was a graduate of both Weldon and Trinity High Schools and spent the major portion of her professional life in the employ of General Telephone Company at their offices in Dickinson, Texas. She was also an Avon Representative for many years in both Dickinson and Pasadena, Texas.

Bobbie Jean Bourgeois

LA MARQUE — Mrs. Bobbie Jean Bourgeois, 63, walked into Glory on November 20, 2004, at UTMB Hospital in Galveston, Texas.

The oldest of nine children, she was born August 10, 1941, in Tyler, Texas to Odis and Mozella Davis Pollard. Sis. Bourgeois was educated in Rusk County, Henderson, Texas. Having worked very hard all of her life, her ventures included Nurse's Aide, and working at various department stores. People loved seeing her smiling face and hearing her charming wit. She was a member of Greater Bell Zion Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in the choir with the voice of an operatic angel. She moved back to Henderson, Texas in 1991 and joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She served under the leadership of her brother. In 1998 she moved back to LaMarque to be closer to her children. She will be sorely missed by all that loved her and by all those lives she touched.

Carolyn A. Bonham

LA MARQUE — Services for Carolyn A. Bonham, 71, will be at l0:30 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church of LaMarque, 1825 Howell. Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park cemetery, Hitchcock. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 6, at Crowder Funeral Home, 401 Texas Ave., LaMarque.

Mrs. Bonham died Thursday, Dec. 2, at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston.

Mattie "Mom-O " Taylor-Anderson

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course.

GALVESTON — Mattie Taylor-Anderson, 81, left her earthly home on Thursday, December 2, 2004, at her residence.

Mattie was born May 20, 1923, in Hearne, Texas to Lenton and Celia Henderson Dunn. A longtime resident of Galveston, she was a retired unit clerk from UTMB Hospital and a member of the Shiloh AME Church, where she served as Superintendent of Sunday School for over 18 years.

Howard "Frank" Wilkerson, Jr.

TEXAS CITY — Howard 'Frank' Wilkerson, Jr., was born May 9, 1932, in Pascagoula, Mississippi, where he spent his boyhood. He passed away December 5, 2004, in Texas City, Texas.

Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City.

Donald Eugene Parenzan A. K. A. Geno

Donald Eugene Parenzan A. K. A. Geno, 82, passed away December 4, 2004. He was born in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, January 2, 1922, to Joseph and Maria Parenzan. Geno was loved by all who knew him in their own special way. He was an avid Penn State Football fan and could be seen cheering on his Nittany Lions from the 50-yard line at every home game. "Geno" will always be remembered for his zest for life and could make a friend instantly everywhere he went. Those who knew him will shed a tear of sorrow of his loss and at the same time will be followed by a tear with a smile thinking about all the fond memories he has given us all. He was a special person who has a special family as he lives within all of us. He loved his family and friends as much as life itself.

Thelma Kate Nanney

HITCHCOCK — Mrs. Thelma Kate Nanney passed from this life Sunday, December 5, 2004, at her home.

Born October 6, 1913, in Commerce, Texas, Mrs. Nanney had been a resident of Hitchcock since 1956, formerly of Commerce. She taught 6th and 8th grade at SFISD for several years, until becoming the librarian until her retirement in 1976. A member of the Santa Fe Chapter of TOPS, Mrs. Nanney loved gardening, taking walks and was especially fond of her pet bird.

Larry Lee Harvey

HOUSTON — Larry Lee Harvey, 56, of Spring, Texas, passed away Friday, December 3, 2004.

He was born on October 18, 1948 in Lovelady, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam war.

Larry is preceded in death by his father, two sisters and a brother. He is survived by his mother, Mary Aillene Harvey of Livingston, Texas; brothers Ray and wife Sandra of Texas City, Naurice and wife, Sandra of Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, and Kenneth of Livingston; sisters and their husbands, Beverly and James E. Platt, Everlou and Steve Marsh, Delores and Jerry Brandon, Angie and Billy Galloway all of Livingston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be sent to the charity of your choice. Graveside services are pending with Howard-Glendale Funeral Home of Houston.
