LA MARQUE - This is a journey that we all must take and each must go alone. It is a part of the Master's plan, a step on the road to our eternal home. On Sunday, November 16, 2003, Mrs. Willie Lee Bailey departed this life at Downtown Baptist Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.
Visitation will begin 5 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2003, at the Westward Street Church of Christ, 302 N. Westward in Texas City followed by a wake from 7 p.m. to 8p.m. Funeral services will be 12 p.m. Saturday, November 22, 2003, at the church with Bro. Gene Rowe Jr., officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park cemetery in Hitchcock under the direction of Mainland Funeral Home of La Marque
Mrs. Bailey was born to Mrs. Alice Johnson Sherwood and Mr. William T. Dickerson on June 22, 1940, in Huntsville, Texas. She united with Northside Church of Christ at an early age and she later moved to Texas City where she united with the Westward Street Church of Christ.
preceded in death by her father and an infant sister, she leaves to mourn a loving and devoted mother, Alice Sherwood of Texas City; a loving and caring husband, Frankie L. Bailey of La Marque; one loving son, William Thomas Dickerson (Cookie) of Texas City; three grandchildren, Ramona Gamble of Atlanta, Georgia, Rodney Gamble and Shamettka Smith both of Texas City; two great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Charles of LaMarque and Robbie of California; a sister-in-law of Nacogdoches; devoted cousins, Lenora Isaac and Barbara Tubbs both of Texas City; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

GALVESTON - Emily June Bunting Dodge passed away November 16, 2003, in Galveston, after an extended illness.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2003, at Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Miller officiating. Burial will be in Poquoson, Virginia.
The family will receive visitors from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Friday, November 21, 2003, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home.
June was born July 19, 1924, to Edd and Mary Jane Bunting in Poquoson, Virginia. She located to Galveston in 1986, and joined the Agape Class at Moody Methodist Church. Her main interests in life were her family and traveling.
June is survived by her husband of sixty years, James Dodge, of Galveston; daughter, Connie Johnson and husband, Jerry, of Galveston; son, James Dodge, Jr. and wife, Carol Ann, of Las Vegas, Nevada, son, Robert Dodge, of Atlanta, Georgia; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Joseph Burdell Bunting, of Poquoson, Virginia; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be June's grandsons John Payne, Jr., James Dodge, III; Philip Dodge; Jeremy Johnson; and Stewart Dodge.
Honorary pallbearers will be June's granddaughters, Jamie Dodge, Annamary Johnson, and Sarah Dodge.
June's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. David Bessman, Madonna Berry, RN, Dr. Cindy Dunn, Dr. Elsa Bello-Reuss, and the nursing staff at the Hematology Department at UTMB.

GALVESTON - Curtis Penn Wade, III, 59, of Galveston, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, November 19, 2003.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 22, 2003, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Father Ron Pogue officiating. A cremation and burial will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, December 1, 2003, at Houston's VA National cemetery.
Curt was born November 29, 1943, to Althea and C.P. Wade, Jr. of Galveston. He was a graduate of Ball High School and Sam Houston State University. He then served in the US Air Force stationed at Cameron Bay in Vietnam. Following his service in Vietnam, he spent the majority of his career in automobile sales, mainly at Flower's Motors where he received numerous acclamations and awards for his sales performance. Some of his hobbies and interests included golf, hunting and fishing, playing pool, and gaming.
Curt is survived by his parents; wife, Jeannine Wade, of Galveston; son, Curtis Penn Wade, IV (Ivey), daughters, Ashley T. Wade of Houston; Stephanie Colelli and husband, Craig, of League City; brother Lance T. Wade and wife, Carol; sister Althea "Suzi" Elderman and husband, Joe; sister, Adrienne Mendoza and husband, Robert; brother, Mark "Clay" Wade and partner, Paul Mendoza; granddaughter, Meredith Colelli; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be David O'Donohoe, Joseph "Pepeā" LeBoeuf, Israel Ochoa, Sonny Vaiani, Morris LeBlanc, and Ralph Bowers.

GALVESTON - Clara Louise Lockett Whitworth passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, November 19, 2003, at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston with her three daughters by her side. She was 86. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 21, 2003, at Edgewater Chapel, 2228 Seawall Blvd., Galveston, Texas, with Rev. Ray Pinard officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale cemetery in Houston, Texas under the direction of Carnes Brothers Funeral Home of Galveston.
Clara was born in Houston, Texas on September 27, 1917, to Ada Mary Lockett (Morin) and Thomas Lockett.. Clara graduated from San Jacinto High School and was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad as a comptometer operator for a number of years and then organized and ran the Tom C. Whitworth Co. until retirement. Our special thanks to the Staff at Edgewater Methodist Retirement Community Special Care Unit and particularly to Jane Keel and the Reverend Ray Pinard for all of the loving care that our Mother received during her eleven years in Galveston. The family would also like to thank the University of Texas Medical Branch, it's nurses and doctors for their exemplary care and kind attention.

Catherine Louise "Ma" Osminer Lehew
BAYVIEW - Catherine Louise "Ma" Osminer Lehew, 91, passed away peacefully at her Bayview home on November 20, 2003.
Born October 8, 1912, Ma is survived by two grandchildren, Tamara Lehew Hearn and husband John and Thomas Robert Lehew all of Bacliff; seven great-grandchildren, Tammy Hearn Weir, John Dwayne Hearn, James Dudley Hearn all of LaPorte, Katrina Davidson of Nassau Bay, Jimmie Crowhurst of League City and Michael and Thomas Robert Lehew of Edinburgh; and eight great great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Thommie Lee and two sons, Eugene Tommie and Robert Joseph, a granddaughter Teckla Crowhurst, and two great grandchildren Crystal Lehew and Benjamin Davidson.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Forest Park East cemetery, League City, Texas with Rev. Carl Newmann of Bayshore Friends Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. on Saturday.

TEXAS CITY - Leslie John Schroeder, born March 22, 1930, in Galveston, Texas, passed away at his home November 20, 2003. He was retired after thirty-nine years of employment from Union Carbide. In his lifetime, Mr. Schroeder was a Korean War Navy Veteran, a Boy Scout Leader, a Little League Coach and an active sportsman. He was instrumental in forming and coordinating the Texas City "City By The Bay Tours", publishing the newsletter for the Carbide Retiree Corp Texas City Chapter, and contributed to various activities for the Memorial Lutheran Church of Texas City.
Les is survived by his wife of fifty years, Gwen; his three children, Les, Terry and Kathy; his sister Charlene; his three grandchildren, Ryan, Carly and Lauren; many nieces and nephews and many friends. We will miss him as a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and uncle as well as a dedicated member of the community.
Visitation will be Saturday, November 22, 2003, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2003, at Memorial Lutheran Church of Texas City.

Helene Brynston Rapp
GALVESTON - Helene Brynston Rapp, 82, departed this life peacefully on Friday, November 21, 2003, surrounded by members of her family.
Born in California to Gustav and Nettie Brynston, she moved to Galveston in 1928, when her father purchased the Purity Ice Cream Company at 1102 Postoffice Street.
Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Raymond R. Rapp, Jr.; sister Maxine and husband Joe Arenas of Galveston; son Donald G. Rapp and wife MaryAnn of Houston; grandchildren Michael of League City and Melissa of Houston; son Gary R. Rapp and wife Kathleen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren Joel of Denver and Leah of Colorado Springs; son Barney J. Rapp and wife Peggy of Galveston; grandchildren Brian of Corpus Christi and Erin of Houston; son John T. Rapp and wife Carolyn of League City, grandchildren Aspen and Julie of League City; daughter Madeline A. Newcomb and husband Richard of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren Kelly of Tampa and Ian of St. Petersburg.
Helene attended Sacred Heart Academy in Galveston, graduating in 1938. She attended Incarnate Word College in San Antonio where she received a degree in Philosophy and studied Art, specializing in painting china.
For many years she taught Sunday school as a member of Sacred Heart Parish; taught special need students at the Moody School on Offats Bayou; participated as an active member in the Galveston County Texas A&M Mothers Club (her four sons graduated from the College Station campus) and served as a volunteer tour guide at the Bishop's Palace. She and Raymond traveled throughout United States and the world and enjoyed sharing their experiences with family and friends.
Helene had a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. The family expresses thanks to Dr. Sally Borucki and to Dr. John Calverly at UTMB for their assistance and care. Most importantly thanks to Regency Hospice and especially Mary James, R.N. for her care and personal generosity.
Visitation will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 14th & Broadway on Sunday, November 23, 2003, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with rosary at 7 p.m. led by her son, Deacon Don Rapp.
Funeral mass will be at Sacred Heart Church on Monday, November 24, 2003, at 9:30 a.m. with Father Frank Fabj officiating. Interment will follow at Old Catholic cemetery under direction of Malloy & Son Funeral Home.
Helene's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of floral arrangements, donations to the Maintenance Fund for Sacred Heart Church on the occasion of it is 100th anniversary are suggested.
