Cynthia Ann Passmore
ALBUQUERQUE, NEW MEXICO - Cynthia Ann Passmore, 55, of Albuquerque, New Mexico and formerly of Galveston County, Texas, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2003, after a brave battle with cancer.
Cynthia was born June 30, 1948, in Mobile, Alabama, the daughter of the late Robert and Laurene Gilmore of Galveston. She was raised in Galveston and later married
Jon B. Passmore and moved to Taos, New Mexico where he was an obstetrician/gynecologist until his death in 1975. Cynthia became a registered nurse and spent many years caring for patients and enjoyed her last job at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque. Eventually the doctors and nurses she worked with lovingly cared for her until her death.
Survivors include her only son, Jon Passmore of Albuquerque; a sister and brother-in-law Gail and Richard Wright of Waco, Texas; a brother, James Gilmore and wife JoAnne of Galveston, Texas; a brother Milton Gilmore and his wife, Cynthia Lee of Palmer, Alaska; nieces and nephews and a large family of friends at Lovelace Hospital and Hospice.

Richard Arnold Roderick
GALVESTON — Richard Arnold Roderick, 69, died November 23, 2003, at his residence in Galveston, Texas.
Dick was born December 18, 1933, to William and Dora Kimbel Roderick, in South Paris, Maine. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict, earning his honorable discharge in 1953. He moved to Galveston in 1960 where he owned and operated a household appliance store. He loved animals and was a constant contributor to the Lasker Children's Home until it closed and many other charitable children's efforts in Galveston.
preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Roderick, Dick is survived by his daughters, Karen Kump, of Connecticut and Karla Stein, of California; sister, Marlene Grimes, of Maine; 3 grandchildren, a nephew and many friends.

GALVESTON — Katie Mae Askew Robertson, 66, passed away November 11, 2003, at John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 1, 2003, at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church, 2728 Ave. K, Galveston, Texas, with Rev. Dexter Henderson officiating. Graveside services will follow at Mainland Memorial cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 30, 2003, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a wake to be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Katie was born August 11, 1937, to Willie and Katie Freeman Askew, in Port Arthur, Texas. She was employed as an X-ray Technician at St. Mary's Hosptial, retiring after 23 years of dedicated service. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
preceded in death by her father, Katie is survived by her daughter, Charity Mims Askew, of Galveston; son, Mark Anthony Askew and wife, Tara Monique, of Galveston; mother, Katie Askew, of Beaumont; sister, Margaret Renfro, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Jearell Askew, Mahogony Askew, Soraya Askew, Jashawn Askew and Shawnte Askew; great granddaughter, Erion Williams; numerous others relatives and friends.

Frances Cardona, 72, of Texas City, passed away Monday, November 24, 2003, at Mainland Medical Center. She was born March 9, 1931, in Sugarland, Texas, to Lucio and Delphina Luna.

GALVESTON — David Patrick Martin, age 37, passed away Monday, November 24, 2003, at his home. He was born January 22, 1966, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
David was an avid athlete winning numerous awards in surfing, basketball and golf. He took his first of many U.S. Surfing Championships at the age of 13. David graduated from Texas A & M University May of 1989, and worked at American National Insurance Company for 12 years as Regional Sales Director.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Lynn Martin; son, Tyler David Martin; step-daughter, Jada Lynn Adcock; step-son, Lyman Joseph Mann, III; and sister, Moira Martin.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2003, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., at J. Levy & Bro. Funeral Home, with a Rosary to begin at 7:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 1, 2003, at 10:00 A.M., at J. Levy & Bro. Funeral Home, with Brother Rick Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet cemetery in Dickinson, Texas.

Margaret L. "Lula" Bilbrey, 78, of Texas City, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2003, at Mainland Medical Center in Texas City.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2003, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Tollison officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Memorial Park. Visitation will be 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2003, at Emken-Linton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bilbrey was born October 3, 1925, in Burlington, Texas. She was retired as Manager of the Cafeteria, at Northside Elementary School for over 20 years, and worked for several years as a teller at Mainland Bank in Texas City.
Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, John D. Bilbrey; her son, John D. Bilbrey III and wife, Laurel; her daughter, Lynette Martin; three brothers, Louis Murff and wife, Darlene, Robert Murff and wife, Sara, Ed Murff and wife, Ruth; her sisters, Salome Vickers, Lee Johnson and husband, Kyle, Catherine Davis and husband, Bill; her sister-in-law, Irene Murff; her grandchildren, Julie Bolner and husband, Jeff, Alison Martin, Melissa Fairchild and numerous other relatives.

Karen G. Levy
Karen G. Levy died Sunday, after a rigorous battle with cancer.
She was born on March 31, 1945. Karen retired from the U.S. Postal Service after a career of 15 years, and resided in League City with her family for the past year and a half, having moved from Galveston Island.
She is survived by her husband, Harry H. Levy, III; daughter, Michele L. Poche’ and husband, Jimmie; grandson, Tavi Lasker Poche’; step-sons, Harry Levy, IV, Marc D. Levy and Robert L. Levy and their wives and nine children; and her sister, Linda G. Krumholz of Charlotte, North Carolina.
A graveside service will be officiated by Rabbi James Kessler, at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2003, at Hebrew Benevolent Society cemetery at 43rd and Avenue L, Galveston.
