H.G. ‘George’ Hale
Graveside services for H.G. “George” Hale, 85, of Kilgore, were held at 2 p.m. today in the Kilgore Cemetery with Rev. James Griffin officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Mark Miller of Kilgore, friends at the Country Place Village, as well as longtime friends in the Think Tank Coffee Club, which meets daily at the Char-Burger in Kilgore.
Mr. Hale died Tuesday, Han. 22, 2002 in Tyler.
He was born April 13, 1916, to John W. and Leona Miller Hale in the Brewster Community near Clarksville and attended the Brewster Schools and Clarksville High School. After 30 years of employment with the Johns-Manfield Corp., He retired in 1981 as a field representative in the pipe division.
He was preceded in death by his wife, and seven brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include three daughters, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Services for brother and sister Lillie Mae McCoy Gill and Elmer “Preacher” Montgomery, both of Longview, will be held Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002 at 11 a.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church in Kilgore with Reverends K.B. Henry, Sr., J.E. Lister and William Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
Survivors include two sisters, Johnnie Woodberry of Kilgore and Verniece Boozer of Capital Heights, Md.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Don “Bubba” Staton
HENDERSON — Services for Don “Bubba” Staton, 34, of Henderson, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2001 at the Crawford-A. Crim Chapel with George Conway officiating. Burial will follow in the Rusk County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Staton died Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.
He was born Dec. 14, 1966 in Lockheart. He was owner of Staton’s Landscaping and Sprinkler Service.
Survivors include his wife, DeeAnn Staton of Henderson; one daughter, Haven Staton of Henderson; one son, Cullen Staton of Henderson; one sister, Phyllis Andrews of Longview; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Shana Staton of Oak Hill; mother and step-father, Gwinda and Foy Beldin of Longview; father and step-mother, Jessie and Deloris Staton of Navasota; maternal grandmother, Lela Wood of Luling; paternal grandparents, Donald and Nettie Lee Staton of Dale; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Janet and Tod Dickerson of Kilgore; and several nieces, nephews and uncles.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Charles R. Smith
Graveside services for Mr. Charles R. Smith, 74, of Kilgore, will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon, Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Kilgore with the Rev. Roy Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Smith passed away Monday morning at his home in Kilgore.
He was born July 7, 1928 in Muleshoe, Texas, the son of the late Clarence and Mary Smith. Mr. Smith had lived in Kilgore since 1935. He was a retired truck driver from Bolt Fuel Co.
Survivors include his wife, Della Fae Smith of Kilgore; two sons, Aaron Smith and Jesse Davis; four daughters, Caroline White, Martha Copeland, Jeannie Smith and Rose Esquivel; six grandchildren, Aaron Jr., Brian, Renee, Kim, Kenneth and Jack; nine great-grandchildren and a host of other loving family.
His parents and his grandson Chuck Copeland preceded Mr. Smith in death.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m.
Kenneth W. Jordan
Graveside services for Kenneth W. Jordan,71, of Kilgore, will be ten o’clock in the morning Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002 at the Hickory Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Earl W. “Buddy” Duggins officiating.
Mr. Jordan passed away Saturday afternoon at his home in Kilgore, Texas.
Mr. Jordan was born Dec. 10, 1930 in Lamesa, Texas to the late G.M. and Irene Jordan. He was a longtime member of the Forest Home Baptist Church. Mr. Jordan was the owner and operator of Bee Line Well Service, Inc. in Kilgore and was very instrumental with the merger between Bee Line Well Services, Inc. and Tetra Applied Technologies, L.P. of Houston, Texas. He attended the Gaston School. Mr. Jordan also served in the United States Navy.
Mr. Jordan is survived by his wife, Edalene Jordan of Kilgore; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lane and Joy Jordan of Kilgore and Kenneth W. Jordan, Jr. of Kilgore; four grandchildren, Kenneth W. Jordan, III of Plano, Lane Jordan, Jr. of Denton, Kalli Jordan of Kilgore and Kathlene Jordan of Waco; two sisters, Billie Currie of Joliet, Ill. and Jo Terrier of Port Arthur, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, G.M. and Irene Jordan; one sister, Dorothy Goodwin; and one brother, George Jordan.

The Jordan family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
Lucille Philpot Smith
Services for Lucille Philpot Smith, 87, of Liberty City, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002 at the Rader Funeral home Chapel in Kilgore with Minister Leamon G. Keele officiating. Burial will follow in the Friendship Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith died Sunday at her residence.
She was born Nov. 2, 1914 in the Joy Community in Smith County, the daughter of the late William and Kate Philpot. She was a graduate of Sabine schools, a member of the Oakdale Church of Christ and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul “Bud” Smith; and a son, Joe Jack Smith.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Rose Spencer of Liberty City; three grandchildren, Joseph Scott Smith of Fort Worth, Michael Kevin Smith of Decorah, Iowa, and Lisa Spencer Pearson of East Mountain; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Elmore of Longview; and a brother, James L. Philpot of the Joy Community; several nieces, nephews and other loving family members.
The family will recieve friends at the funeral home Monday night from 7 until 9 p.m.
JUNIOR RAY FLEMING
Private services for Junior Ray Fleming, 69, of Kilgore will be held at a later date under the direction of Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home in Overton.
Mr. Fleming Died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at his residence.
He was born Jan. 30, 1933 in Price to John and Ruby Thomas Fleming. He married Betty Loraine Beasley on Oct. 18,1952 in Overton and moved to Kilgore in 1984. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from LeTourneau in 1995 after working there for 30 years.
He is preceded in death by one brother, James Edward Fleming; and a son, Doyle Clyde Fleming.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Loraine Fleming of Kilgore; two sons, Wesley Fleming and Roy Lee Fleming both of Kilgore; two sisters, Inez Davis and Emma Jean Fitzgerald of Lake Palestine; one grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mozzie Rae Tompkins
MARSHALL — Services for Mozzie Rae Tompkins of Marshall, formerly of Beckville, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002 at the Lipsey Family Funeral Home Chapel in Carthage with the Revs. Harold Teague and Wayne Minter officiating. Burial will follow in the Youngblood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Tompkins, Kyle Colston, Terry Cook, Sidney Cox, Jack Ellett, Robert Gentry, John Pate, Garry Hunt and Shane Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be Clinton Tompkins, Stewart Tompkins, Wesley Tompkins, Markel Waldrop, Dale Waldrop, Larry Wyatt and Scott Foster.
Mrs. Tompkins died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at Briarcliff Nursing Center in Carthage.
She was born Jan. 28, 1920 in the Brooks Community in Panola County and was the daughter of Claudy Ray and Tennie Williams Waldorp. She lived most of her life in Panola and Harrison counties. She was a member of Union Arbor Freewill Baptist Church of Beckville and attended Bel Air Baptist Church in Marshall in recent years. Mrs. Tompkins loved working in her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A. Tarzan Tompkins, in 1984.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Diann Tompkins of Kilgore; one daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Lester Stegall of Marshall; one brother, Ray Waldrop of Carthage; two sisters, Winnie Gentry of Carthage and Margie Wyatt of Gary; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Peggy Ruth White
Services for Peggy Ruth White, 53, of Kilgore, were 2 p.m. today, Sept. 24, 2002 at the Church of the Nazarene. Burial followed in the Kilgore Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore.
Pallbearers were John Leach, Kelly Leach, Milton Frazier, Joey Sparkman, Mark Heisel, and Logan Underwood. Honorary Pallberar was Kevin R. Hickenbothan.
Mrs. White died Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002 in Kilgore.
She was born April 2, 1949 in Atlanta and lived most of her life in Kilgore. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and was employed with Southern Plastics of Kilgore.
Survivors include her parents, three daughters and sons-in-law, two brothers and sisters-in-law, four grandchildren, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
