Edward E. Collins
LONGVIEW — Services for Edward E. Collins, 82, of Longview were held Saturday, March 9, 2002 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home. Entombment followed at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Collins died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 in an Alexandria, La. hospital.
He was born Dec. 21, 1919 in Hope, Ark., to the late James Floyd and Annie Elizabeth Elmore Collins. Mr. Collins had been a resident of Longview for the past 55 years. During WWII he served in the U.S. Army-Air Corp. Mr. Collins was the owner and operator of the Hut Café in Longview for over 20 years, and was a member of the Alpine Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of over 53 years, Lorene Collins of Longview; a son, James Edward Collins of East Mountain; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia Elizabeth and Gil Jackson of Longview and Jeannie and Wayne Morgan of White Oak; a sister, Hazel Rucker of Kilgore; a brother and sister-in-law, James Floyd and Dorothy Collins of Liberty City; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions will be made to the Alpine Church of Christ Educational Library.

Carl J. (Carlyle) Goodgame
LONGVIEW — A rosary for Carl J. (Carlyle) Goodgame, 80, of Longview will be recited Sunday, March 10, 2002 at 7 p.m. at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Longview. A mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 11, 2002 at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Father Ben Smylie officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Park Cemetery.
Mr. Goodgame died Thursday, March 7, 2002 in a local hospital.
He was born Sept. 12, 1921 in Camden, Ark. and had lived in Longview since 1931. He owned Carlyle Jewelers and was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Mr. Goodgame was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and had reached the third and fourth degrees.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlyle and Anna Goodgame; a brother, Paul Goodgame; and a sister, Julie Croteau.
Survivors include his two nephews, David B. Goodgame and James A. Goodgame, both of Tyler; and one niece, Carol Goodgame of Dallas.

Ward Spain
Services for Ward Spain, 95, of Kilgore, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with the Revs. Rusty Silvertooth and Dave Bishop officiating. Burial followed in the Kilgore Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Michael Spain, Chris Spain, Aaron Andrews, Tea Andrews, Lance Silvertooth and Chad Silvertooth. Honorary pallbearers were Caleb Silvertooth, Lynn Spain and Cody Davidson.
Mr. Spain died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 in a Kilgore nursing facility.
He was born Sept. 20, 1906 in Yellville, Ark. to Jim and Laura Spain and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Kilgore.
He was preceded in death by four children and four brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, four children and their spouses, a sister, 20 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Shannon Willoughby
Services for Shannon Willoughby, 85, of Shreveport, La., will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2001 at the Broadmoor United Methodist Church with the Rev’s. Steven Spurlock, Quinn O’Bannon and Dr. George Pearce, Jr. officiating. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. in the Kilgore City Cemetery in Kilgore, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Shreveport, La.
Honorary pallbearers will be A.G. Hammette, III., Hank Anderson, Jimmy Wallace, Jimmy Allen, Dr. Ed. Thomas, Tom Landrum, Dr. William Baldridge, Doug Page, Francis Barnett, Jim Thompson, Glenn Whitten, Phillip Jackson, Stanely Vickrey and Gordon Rountree.
Mr. Willoughby died Monday, April 30, 2001 at Christus Schumpert Grace Home following a brief illness.
Mr. Willoughby was born in Kilgore, Texas, and he was retired as the owner/operator of Willoughby Gulf and Broadmoor Exxon. He was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church and a former member of the Optimists Club where he was a past president and Lt. Governor of District 7. Mr. Willoughby was a former member of the Bayou Gasoline Retailers Association and was in the U.S. Navy as a Lt. Flight Instructor during WWII.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Wyche and Franklin Lenora Reynolds Willoughby; four brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary (Mac) Stark Willoughby of Shreveport, La.; one son, Shannon Willoughby, Jr. of Shreveport, La.; one daughter, Francye Willoughby Phillips and husband Dan of Kilgore, Texas; grandchildren, Shannon Guttry and husband Dr. Robert of Longview, Texas, Stacye McCollum and husband Aaron of Lewisville, Texas, and Stephen Phillips of Austin, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Robert King Guttry and Wesley Willoughby McCollum.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Broadmoor United Methodist Church Organ Fund or the charity of the donor’s choice.

Tyler Christopher Alexander
Services for Tyler Christopher Alexander, 3, of Lindale, Texas will be two p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2001 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Mark Huffhines officiating. Tyler passed away Saturday, April 28, 2001 as the result of an automobile accident.
Tyler was born February 7, 1998 in Livingston, Texas to his parents Craig C. and Kristin Alexander. He was an energetic young child and loved by all who knew him. He will be remembered and missed by everyone he knew.
He is survived by his parents, Kristin and Craig C. Alexander of Lindale, TX; paternal grandparents, Craig W. Alexander of Lindale, TX and Diane Alexander and Wesley Simpson of Bullard, TX; great-grandparents, Sue and Joe Hendrix of Kilgore, TX, Henry and Janet McCarty of Liberty City, TX, Jerome and Emma Nell Denmon of Liberty City, TX; a great-great-grandmother, Lillie Ashby of Liberty City; an aunt, Carla Griffith of Liberty City, TX; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and other loving family.
His grandfather Billy Joe Hendrix preceded Tyler in death.
The family will receive friends at the Rader Funeral Home Wednesday evening between 6 and 8 p.m.

Danny “Joe” Bales
GLADEWATER — Graveside services for Danny “Joe” Bales, 38, of Kilgore will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 4, 2002 at White Oak Cemetery with Rev. Wade Duck and Larry W. Osborne officiating.
Born on Dec. 9, 1963 in Littlefield, Texas, he died on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002. He was a graduate of Gladewater High School and a pump repairman in the oil industry.
He is survived by his son, Dillon Bales of White Oak; mother and father, Billy and Molly Bales of White Oak; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Darla and David Wallace of Gladewater and Sherri and Terry Berry of White Oak; three nephews, John David Wallace of Gladewater, Kyle Duffee of Hallsville, and Wesley Berry of White Oak; one niece, Lauren Berry of White Oak; a special friend, Margaret Khan and her three children; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and a host of friends.

Viola Splawn
Services for Viola Splawn, 90, a 50-year resident of Kilgore, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with the Rev. Riley Pippen officiating. Burial will follow in the Danville Cemetery.
Mrs. Splawn was born Sept. 25, 1911 in Henderson to Stephen and Carrie Burns. She worked for many years as a registered nurse.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include three sons, Sam Splawn of Iowa Park, Melvin Splawn of Hearne and Mike Splawn of Kilgore; a brother, Velton Burns of Dallas; two sisters, Rosie Rolland and Carrie Moon both of Longview; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

David L. Metz
HENDERSON — Services for David L. Metz, 62, of Henderson, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 at Bryan Funeral Home Chapel in Henderson with Brother David Britt of Crims Chapel Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Crims Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Troy Whitlock, Tommy Rickman, Richard Pilgrim, Tony Steel, Bill Ward and Howard Williams.
Mr. Metz died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002 at the East Texas Medical Center in Tyler.
He was born Feb. 6, 1939 in Akron, Ohio. He was a member of the Baptist faith, employed as an operator and was a Vietnam Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Audrey Watson; and one brother, James Metz.
Survivors include his wife, Maurine Metz of Henderson; daughters, Patty Pilgrim of Henderson and Kathy Gates of Hallsville; sons, Leslie Marburger of Crevecouer, Ill., John Marburger of Leslie, Mo. and Carl Marburger of Greenville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.

Virgie Bridges
HAWKINS — Services for Virgie O. Bridges, 83, of Hawkins, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2002 at Little Mound Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery under the direction of Beaty Funreal Home in Hawkins.
Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Bridges died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002 in Tyler.
She was born Nov. 14, 1918 in Upshur County to John Clifton and AnnaBelle LaRue Clifton and she was a lifelong resident of East Texas where she was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Bridges; one sister, Alice Lind Bauchanan; and three brothers, Billy George Clifton, Adrain Dow Clifton and Byron Clifton.
Survivors include two sons, Johnny Ray Bridges of Hawkins and Donald Wayne Bridges of Hawkins; two daughters, Patricia (Susie) Ford of Hawkins and Linda Owen of Buffalo, Wy.; one brother, Jim Clifton of Lone Star; two sisters, June Wilkins of Kilgore and Jeane Callan of Big Sandy; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home in Hawkins.

Pambly Bernice (Bea) Dotson
Services for Pambly Bernice (Bea) Dotson, 85, of Kilgore, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2002 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with the Deacon Cliff Brunson officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Dotson died Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002 in Tyler.
