Arthur L. Davis
Services for Arthur L. Davis, of Kilgore, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2001 at the Mt. Zion C.M.E. Church with Elder A.R. Mayfield and Rev. Perfit Atkins officiating. Burial will follow at Kilgore Memorial Gardens under the direction of Cunningham Funeral Directors.
Mr. Davis died Friday, April 20, 2001 at his residence.
He was born Feb. 8, 1919 to Caryline Small in De Berry and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also a retired carpenter.
Survivors include three sister, Annie Mae Palmer and Essis Brooks of Kilgore and Parlie D. Pearson of Shreveport, La.; one brother Freddie Dotty of Shreveport, La.; one son, Arthur Davis, Jr.; and several other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be from 12 until 1 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Grace Vise Tucker
Grace Vise Tucker died Sept. 7, 2002.
She was preceded in death by James Francis Tucker, her beloved Jimmy.
Grace taught first grade for many years at Condit Elementary, and was a member of St. Phillip’s Presbyterian Church and the Current Study Club.
She is survived by son, James Francis Tucker, II; daughter-in-law, Jenean Hill Tucker; and daughter, Twila Tucker Richardson; son-in-law, Charles Richardson, MD; grandchildren, Trey Tucker, Tiffany Tucker, Emily Blake and husband Jeff, Lucy Brittian and husband Michael; and sister, Jeanette Holt.
A memorial service will be held at St. Phillip’s Presbyterian Church Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. Donations can be made to your favorite charity.
GOLDIA MAE PROCHASKA
Services for Mrs. Goldia Mae Prochaska, 99, of F.M. 2011 (Rt. 11) Longview will be held at three o’clock p.m., Saturday, September 21, 2002 at the Danville Methodist Church in Kilgore with the Reverend Walter Magouyrk officiating. Burial will follow in the Danville Cemetery. Mrs. Prochaska passed away Monday in Longview.
She was born June 26, 1903 in Montgomery, Texas the daughter of the late Finnie and Etta McDonald. Mrs. Prochaska received her Teacher’s Certification from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacodoches, Texas. She taught elementary school in Anauhac and Simonton, Texas. Mrs. Prochaska married Frank Otto Prochaska on December 24, 1936 in Houston, Texas. She resided in Brookshire and Eldorado, Texas until moving to Gregg County in 1952 where she has resided for over half a century. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother in Eldorado, member of the Samuel Paul Dinkins Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and she was a member of the Danville Methodist Church. She was a loving and devoted mother, wife and homemaker.
Survivors include two sons Frank Otto Prochaska, Jr. and Charles David Prochaska both of Houston, Texas; two grandsons Chris Prochaska of New Orleans, Louisiana and Matthew Prochaska of Houston, Texas; one granddaughter Rachel Prochaska of Houston, Texas; one brother Charles S. McDonald of Tavares, Florida; a niece Gail McDonald of Austin Texas and a nephew James Burton McDonald of Fredricksburg, Texas.
Her husband Frank O. Prochaska, two brothers, Albert and James B. McDonald and a sister Juliet McDonald, preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from seven until nine o’clock p.m.
KENNETH W. JORDAN
Graveside services for Kenneth W. Jordan, 71, of Kilgore, were held at 10 a.m. today at the Hickory Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Earl W. “Buddy” Duggins officiating. Burial will follow under the directions of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
Mr. Jordan died Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002 at his home in Kilgore.
He was born Dec. 10, 1930 in Lamesa to G.M. and Irene Jordan. He was a longtime member of the Forest Home Baptist Church. Mr. Jordan was the owner and operator of Bee Line Well Service, Inc. in Kilgore and was very instrumental with the merger between Bee Line Well Services, Inc. and Tetra Applied Technologies, L.P. of Houston. He attended the Gaston School. Mr. Jordan also served in the United States Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, G.M. and Irene Jordan; one sister, Dorothy Goodwin; and one brother, George Jordan.
Survivors include his wife, Edalene Jordan of Kilgore; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lane and Joy Jordan of Kilgore and Kenneth W. Jordan, Jr. of Kilgore; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Billie Currie of Joliet, Ill. and Jo Terrier of Port Arthur.
Memorial donations may be made to the Marshall Taylor Scholarship Fund, Forest Home Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1340, Kilgore, Texas 75663.
Pallbearers were Kenneth W. Jordan, III, Lane Jordan, Jr., William Todd, Jimmie Currie, Danny Terrier and Tim Austin.
Charles R. Smith
Graveside services for Charles R. Smith, 74, of Kilgore, were held at 2 p.m. today at the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Kilgore with the Rev. Roy Hardin officiating. Burial followed in the Hickory Grove Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
Mr. Smith died Monday, Sept. 16, 2002 at his home in Kilgore.
He was born July 7, 1928 in Muleshoe, the son of Clarence and Mary Smith. Mr. Smith had lived in Kilgore since 1935. He was a retired truck driver from Bolt Fuel Co.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Chuck Copeland.
Survivors include his wife, Della Fae Smith of Kilgore; two sons, Aaron Smith and Jesse Davis; four daughters, Caroline White, Martha Copeland, Jeannie Smith and Rose Esquivel; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family.
Pallbearers were Lynn Phelps, Bubba Phelps, Dave Everett, Marshall Ridens, Albert Knight, Brian Smith and James Wooten.
HERMAN SMITH
Funeral services for Herman Smith, 79, of Liberty City are pending with Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
Mr. Smith died Wednesday morning in a Longview hospital.
JOHN EDWARD LONGMIRE
Services for John Edward Longmire, 81, Kilgore, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Boatman officiating. Full military honors will follow at the Danville Cemetery. Mr. Longmire died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002 in Longview, Texas.
Mr. Longmire was born Sept. 11, 1920, in Gadsden, Tenn. Mr. Longmire served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII, receiving numerous medals, including two purple hearts. He was a member of the First Pentecostal Church. Mr. Longmire retired after 35 years as a truck driver for American Supply Company.
Mr. Longmire is survived by six children, Stanley Longmire of Kilgore, Larry and Barbara Longmire of Kilgore, Gary and Paula Longmire of Jacksonville, Fla., Linda K. and Paul Joyner of Leverett’s Chapel, Jerry and Sherry Longmire of Houston, and Terry and Robbie Longmire of Liberty City; a half-brother, Grady Longmire of Gibson, Tenn.; a half-sister, Rachel Linebaugh of Humbolt, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren, Heather Mecka, Paul Joyner, Dwayne Longmire, Domenick Longmire, Shane Longmire, Jerry Longmire Jr., Amy Martin, Kim Longmire, Justin Longmire, Julie Longmire, Gary Longmire Jr., and Catherine Longmire; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
His wife, Pauline Longmire, preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends at the Rader Funeral Home Friday evening between 6 and 8 p.m.
Mary Larue Masters
Mary Larue Masters was born Oct. 3, 1911 on a farm near Rocky Mount Church just east of Overton, Texas and passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2002.
She was one of five children survived by her sister Helen Dennig of Lubbock.
She lived in Kilgore since the early “boom days” and was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1945. Cooking, talking on the phone, attending church, church socials and driving her car were some of her greatest pastimes. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, and she took great pleasure with everyone opening gifts and listening to Christmas music.
Her husband Calvin Masters along with her brothers Hiram, Bill and Wilburn Piercy and her sister-in-law Louise Piercy preceded her in death.
Mary was devoted to her daughter Clara Jean Thornton and grandchildren Casey, Mathew and Brant and her good friend and son-in-law Don, as well as her great-granddaughter Callie Milam and grandson-in-law Steve Milam.
Also surviving Mary is her devoted sister-in-law, Jackie Piercy of Lubbock along with her nieces and nephews Dwayne, Mike, Brian, Mark, Scott, Blair, Stacie and their children.
Mary had a very long and happy life surrounded by her family, friends and church but was ready and prepared to join her savior Jesus Christ. Her family and friends will remember her lovingly, as we know we will have an angel among us.
Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 2, 2002 at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with the Rev. David Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday night from 7 until 8 at the funeral home.
andrew GARRISON ‘CHIGGER’ CLARK JR.
Graveside services for Gary “Chigger” Clark, 52, Kilgore, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Longview with Charles Wilborn and Rev. Dick Cayce officiating.
Mr. Clark died Jan. 30, 2002, in Longview.
He was born Aug. 8, 1949, in Kilgore, and attended Kilgore public schools and San Marcos Baptist Academy. He was a Baptist and motorcycle enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andy and Johnnie Ruth Clark.
He is survived by a son, Keith B. Clark, Ben Wheeler; two sisters, Faye Wiggins Richards and Gail Shafer, both of Kilgore; two aunts and two uncles; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the East Texas Treatment Center, Kilgore.
MARGIE HOOPER
Funeral services for Margie Hooper, 81, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002 in the Macedonia Baptist Church, FM 850, Overton, with Rev. B.B. Brown and Rev. Willie Bryant officiating. Burial will be in the Pirtle Cemetery under direction of the Victory Funeral Services of Kilgore.
Mrs. Hooper died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2002 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview. She was born in Overton to James and Lizzie Hooper, the 11th of 12 children. At an early age, she accepted Christ and united with the Macedonia Baptist Church in Overton. In her continued walk with the Lord, she later united with the New Light of Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. J.C. Watkins as the pastor. She was a graduate of the London Colored High School, and spent most of her adult life as a loving sister and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Essie Thurmond, Myrtle Bell, Adeline Hooper and Itasca Hooper; and five brothers, James Hooper, Edward Hooper, Jeremiah Hooper, Isaac Hooper and Marcellus Hooper.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Hendrix and Elizabeth Choice both of Kilgore; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Saturday at Victory Funeral Services.
