OVERTON — Services for Clarence King, 81, of Overton, are pending with Southern Funeral Home in Henderson.
Mr. King died Wednesday, April 25, 2001.
Grace Vise Tucker
Grace Vise Tucker died Sept. 7, 2002.
She was preceded in death by James Francis Tucker, her beloved Jimmy.
Grace taught first grade for many years at Condit Elementary, and was a member of St. Phillip’s Presbyterian Church and the Current Study Club.
She is survived by son, James Francis Tucker, II; daughter-in-law, Jenean Hill Tucker; and daughter, Twila Tucker Richardson; son-in-law, Charles Richardson, MD; grandchildren, Trey Tucker, Tiffany Tucker, Emily Blake and husband Jeff, Lucy Brittian and husband Michael; and sister, Jeanette Holt.
A memorial service will be held at St. Phillip’s Presbyterian Church Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. Donations can be made to your favorite charity.
Pearline Jackson
Services for Pearline Jackson of Kilgore will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002 at Fredonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Gray, pastor; Rev. Rickey Bell, eulogist; and Rev. B.B. Brown officiating the burial. Burial will follow at Kilgore Memorial Gardens under the direction of Cunningham Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jackson died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002 in Tyler.
She was born to Robert and Mary Anthony Miller in San Augustine, and was a graduate of The Madam Walker School of Cosmetology in Dallas. She worked in the home of Mr. and Mrs. E.C. Elder and was a beautician at the Peacock Beauty Salon for over 50 years and retired in 1988. She joined Macedonia Baptist Church, later known as Morning Star Baptist Church under the pastorage of Rev. J.J. Robinson. Mrs. Jackson served as missionary president, a member of the choir, and Sunday school teacher until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Jackson; one sister, Marble Hawley; and one brother, Quincy Miller.
Survivors include one daughter, Jacqueline Smith of Tyler; one son, Rayfeal Thompson of Dallas; two grandsons; one great-grandson; one sister, Gertrude Limbrick of San Diego, Calif.; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A wake will be held at the funeral home from 7 until 8 p.m Friday.
Barbara Pentecost Hicks
Services for Barbara Pentecost Hicks, 54, of Garland, formerly of Kilgore, will be noon Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002 at Kilgore Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlton Dean and Rev. Gary Walker officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services.
Mrs. Hicks died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2002 at Baylor University Medical Center in Garland.
She was born March 1, 1948 to Edison and Alzader Pentecost. She graduated salutatorian from North Chapel High School in Kilgore and attended the University of North Texas on an academic scholarship majoring in chemistry and minoring in biology. She was affiliated with several churches including Kilgore Baptist Church and Arlem Grove Baptist Church in Henderson. After moving to Garland she was a faithful member of Christ Fellowship Baptist Church. She was known by many as “Baby, Mama, Granny, Stepmom, Aunt Barbara, Big Barb, Bob, and Hicks.”
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband, Willie D. Hicks; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Cheryl Lacy; two daughters and a son-in-law, Deidra and Chris Dorsey and Deanna Lacy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Earnestine Pentecost and Rodney and Vera Pentecost; one sister, Marsha Pentecost; six grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one aunt; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
Public viewing will be from noon until 8 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mary Ellen Humble
Services for Mary Ellen Humble, 90, of Kilgore, will be 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2002 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Father Stephen Butts officiating. Burial will follow in Lindale Cemetery.
Mrs. Humble died Tuesday morning in Jacksonville.
She was born to John Burwell and Ruth Jones Pope Feb. 11, 1912 in Austin. Their home was located at 1806 Rio Grande. She was a 1929 graduate of Austin High School and a 1933 graduate of the University of Texas, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She and her husband owned and operated the Western Auto store in Kilgore. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and a member of Ladies Altar Guild. She enjoyed hunting, fishing and aviation.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Humble, Sr.; and a brother, John Burwell Pope, Jr.
Survivors include a niece, Sally Pope Fowler of Austin; a nephew, John B. Pope of Corpus Christi; a step-son, Doug Humble, Jr. of Athens; seven great-nieces and nephews; and three step-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kilgore.
Era Dee Dry
Memorial services for Era Dee Dry, 88, of Kilgore, will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of East Texas Funeral Home in Longview.
Mrs. Dry died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002 at a local nursing home.
She was born Dec. 20, 1913 in Hughes Springs.
Survivors include two nephews, James W. Kenney of Kilgore and Charles Kenney of Fort Smith, Ark.; one niece, Gracie O’Quinn of Fort Smith, Ark.; and several great-grandnieces and nephews.
Arch C. “Dutch” Harris
Services for Dutch Harris, 92, of Kilgore will be 1 p.m., Thursday afternoon at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Robert Besser and Ralph Rudy officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery. Mr. Harris died Monday night in Kilgore. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Mildred, his parents, his brothers, Bill and Ralph and his sister, Evelyn.
He was born Nov. 14, 1910 in Springfield, Mo. Mr. Harris was a graduate of Boynton, Okla. High School where he played basketball. He was in the Civil Service during WWII and worked as a fuels inspector for the Air force. In 1946 he and his brother, Ralph, came to Kilgore and started Harris Bros. Co. Mr. Harris had been a member of the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church over 50 years. He was a longtime member and past president of Roy H. Laird Country Club as well as past president and former director of the East Texas Oil Men’s Golf Association.
Mr. Harris was well known for his integrity and love of people. He was a gentleman with a big smile and “Grandad” will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew him.
Mr. Harris is survived by a daughter, Sheri King Bell and her husband Dale of Magnolia, Ark.; a sister, Coralyn Edmonds of Kilgore; a grandson, Randy King and his wife Tina and their children Brian King of Fort Worth, Kelle King Marcott and husband Brian of Lufkin, and Lindsey King of Kilgore; granddaughter, Kandy King Bradshaw and her husband Mark and their sons, Houston and Will of Camden, Ark.; granddaughter, Cynthia Bell Boswell and her husband Jim and their son Chris of Magnolia; and a host of other family and friends. Mr. Harris’ family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregivers and special friend.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, East Texas Treatment Center or a charity of choice.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening between 5:30 and 7 p.m. at Rader Funeral Home.
Evelyn Tyler
Memorial services for Evelyn Tyler, 79, of Katy, formerly of Kilgore, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, 2003 at the First Assembly of God Church in Kilgore with the Revs. Brian Nutt and Leland Burkett officiating.
Mrs. Tyler died in Sunbridge Katy Care Center in Katy on Monday, Jan. 27, 2003.
Mrs. Tyler was born March 10, 1923 to Sterling and Nora Howell in Non, Okla. She married Carl “Push” Tyler in July 1983. She received her beautician license in 1959 and operated her own hair salon in Dallas for many years. She was a proud member of the First Assembly of God Church in Kilgore.
Mrs. Tyler is survived by her daughter, Lawanna Lloyd of Katy, Texas; step-daughter, Patsy Gersteman of Baytown, Texas; step-son, George Tyler of Baytown; three sisters, Alma DiDonato of Dallas, Texas, Thelma Clute Robertson of Tyler, Texas, Verna Reaves of New London, Texas; brother, Bruce Howell of Red Oak, Texas; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003.
Bobby Ray North
Services for Bobby Ray North, 50, of Marshall were 10 a.m. today, Jan. 29, 2003 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore with the Rev. Dale Reed officiating. Burial followed in the Kilgore Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Emmett Capt, Ray Kennedy, Bill Kennedy, Mark Gibson, Jim McFarland, and Bill Ledbetter. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Perry, Roger Germany and Bill Germany.
Mr. North died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003 in Marshall.
He was born Feb. 16, 1952 in Pasadena and lived in Marshall since 1989. He had worked in the oil industry for many years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Aubrey North; and a brother, Roger North.
Survivors include his wife, mother and step-father, three sons, three granddaughters, one grandson, one cousin, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Mary La Nell Woolverton
Graveside services for Mary La Nell Woolverton, 40, of Newton, formerly of Kilgore, will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 in the Millville Cemetery in Rusk County with the Rev. David Hampton officiating.
Mrs. Woolverton died Monday, Jan. 27, 2003 in Newton.
She was born March 8, 1962 in Zwolle. Mrs. Woolverton attended Kilgore public schools and graduated from Mansfield High School, she also attended Kilgore College and Stephen F. Austin University. Mrs. Woolverton worked as a bookkeeper.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Anne English; and her sister, Rebecca Hampton.
Survivors include her daughter, McKallea Ann of Newton; father, Tom Ray English of Henderson; sister and brother-in-law, Glenda and John Keith of Corpus Christi; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Everett and Neosho English of Longview, Jeff and Laura English of Oklahoma and Mike and Sue English of Mount Enterprise.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
Donald Mitchell Meabon
Memorial services for Donald Mitchell Meabon, 87, of Kilgore will be 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003 at the Knowles Chapel at the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Meabon died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003 at his home in Kilgore.
He was born Nov. 17, 1915 in Robison, Ill. the son of Grandin and Maude Meabon. Mr. Meabon was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of the class of 1937 at Texas A&M with a degree in Petroleum Engineering. While attending Texas A&M he also served as Captain of the Ross Volunteers. After graduation he worked for the Otis Pressure Control, Inc. from 1937 until 1941. He installed safety equipment in gas and oil wells, supervised and fought well fires and capped wild wells. Mr. Meabon was responsible for bringing Red Adair into the Otis Company in 1938. Mr. Meabon served in the United States Army during the European Theatre in WWII. He was stationed in Northern France, Rhineland, Normandy and Central Europe. During the Normandy invasion Mr. Meabon was wounded and received the Purple Heart. He was also the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and the EAME Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars. After the war he returned to Kilgore and worked as an independent oil operator and later as a consulting petroleum engineer.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mildred Kemp Meabon of Kilgore; one daughter and son-in-law, Ann Meabon and Joe White of Kilgore; one granddaughter; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cahterine McDonald of Wichita Falls and Mona and Joe Hunt of Wichita Falls; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Memorial Fund at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church or to Hospice of Longview.
