MELBA TUCKER MCGAUGH
Services for Melba Tucker McGaugh, 76, of Longview will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Randy Carter officiating. Burial will be at Rosewood Park under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Mrs. McGaugh died Tuesday, March 2, at a Longview hospital following a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 25, 1928 at Hampton, Ark., to Robert E. and Catherine Hannigan Tucker. A resident of Longview for 52 years, Mrs. McGaugh was an active member of the First Assembly of God Church, a homemaker, a real estate broker and member of the Longview Board of Realtors. She was an outstanding person and a wonderful mother who will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Floyd McGaugh of Longview; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Kristi McGaugh of Houston and Edwin and Pam McGaugh of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Brian Nutt of Kilgore; grandchildren, Olivia McGaugh, Blake Smelley, Tucker and Caleb McGaugh, Colin and Emily Nutt; brother and sister-in-law, Max and Dorothy Tucker of Garland; brother-in-law and wife, Charles and Gail McGaugh of St. Louis; sisters-in-law, Louise Tucker of St. Louis and Gladys Tucker of Little Rock, Ark. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home, 1617 Judson Rd., Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions in Mrs. McGaugh’s honor may be made to the Heart for the Harvest Building Campaign c/o the First Assembly of God Church in Longview.

CALLIE BEAN THOMPSON
Graveside services for Callie Bean Thompson, 92, a woman of Cherokee Indian heritage, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2004 at the Kilgore Cemetery with the Revs. Ralph Rudy and Pam Besser officiating. Burial is under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. She died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 in Kilgore.
Mrs. Thompson was born Aug. 18, 1911 in Kilgore, the daughter of the late Nat and Candase Bean, an early pioneer family of Kilgore. She worked 17 years as a librarian for the Kilgore Public Library as well as teaching school. Mrs. Thompson was a 69-year member of the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and attended the Suzana Wesley Sunday School Class. She was a class of 1932 graduate of Texas A&M at Commerce.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Douglas Thompson of Kilgore and Thomas and Sandra Thompson of White Oak; sister, Lucy Bean Jones of Plano; two grandchildren, Mark Thompson of Kilgore and Jordan Starr Corcoran of Big Sky, Mont.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family.

MARION J. WATSON
Services for Marion J. Watson, 28, of Henderson with Southern Funeral Home of Henderson. She died Wednesday, march 3, 2004.

RUTH WOOD
Services for Ruth Wood, 54, are pending at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore. Mrs. Wood passed away Thursday, March 4, 2004 in Kilgore.

BARBARA SPARKS RILEY
Services for Barbara Riley, 56, of Carthage, formerly of Kilgore, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dale Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Long Branch Cemetery, Panola County. Mrs. Riley died Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at her home in Carthage following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 2, 1947 in Carthage. Mrs. Riley was a homemaker and a member of the Carthage Missionary Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Angie Reid Jorgensen and her husband Richard Jorgensen of Plano; son, Bobby Darrell Reid of Carthage; mother, Mae Kelley of Carthage; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Malcolm Sparks of Henderson, Eddie and Linda Sparks of Kilgore and Larry Sparks of Carthage; granddaughters, Ellen Reid and Anna Windsor of Kilgore; three aunts; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Riley; father, Ernest Sparks; and granddaughter, Patricia Faith Butts.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore Friday evening between 6 and 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Greater Hospice of Texas, 1905 West Loop 281, Longview, Texas.

BILLIJEAN DICKSON FARMER
Graveside services for Billijean Dickson Farmer, 82, of Kilgore were Saturday, April 24, 2004 at the Kilgore City Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. William J. Ingersoll officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mrs. Farmer died Saturday, April 24, in a Kilgore nursing home.
She was born Aug. 13, 1921 in Marlow, Okla., the daughter of the late Kelly and Fay Dickson. On Aug. 27, 1937 she married Tom Farmer who preceded her in death earlier this year. She was a homemaker and a Presbyterian.
Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Winter and Jack Elder of Kilgore; a nephew, Dr. Jack Elder of Longview; a niece, Susie Merritt of Kilgore; and several cousins.

BOBBY JOE GUESS
Services for Bobby Joe Guess, 58, of Longview were 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004 at the Highland Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Riley Pippen officiating. Burial was in the Pirtle Cemetery. Mr. Guess passed away Wednesday in Longview after a courageous battle with cancer.
Pallbearers were Mark Guess, Chris Duncan, Clayton Shannon, Jerry Grafton, Cory McLaughlin and Chris Guess.
Bobby was born Nov. 23, 1945 in Kilgore. He was a member of the Highland Park Baptist Church and worked at Trinity Industries. Mr. Guess was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He also loved bowling, golfing and fishing.
His daughter, Karen Ann Criswell, and his father, Lawrence Ray Guess, precede Mr. Guess in death.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Guess of Longview; a daughter and son-in-law, Kim and John Taliaferro of White Oak; his mother, Thelma Guess of Kilgore; a granddaughter, Allison Taliaferro of White Oak; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Lawrence and Jan Guess of Richmond, Eddie and Carmen Guess of Kilgore and Michael and Mary Ann Guess of Grand Prairie; a sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Tom Forester of Blackstone, Va.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family.
Memorials may be made to the Heartsway Hospice at 1306 Pine Tree Rd., Longview, Texas 75604.

LOREN F. BEEBE
Services for Loren F. Beebe, 86, were 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24, 2004 at the Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Beebe officiating. Burial was in the Danville Cemetery. Mr. Beebe went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 21, in Kilgore.
Pallbearers were Donald Martin Beebe, Sherman Allan Beebe, Loren Beebe, Jerry F. Cummins, Martin Benjamin Beebe and Jerry Chanek.
He was born Feb. 28, 1918 in Ochelata, Okla, to Fred and Edith Beebe. His family moved to Kilgore in the early 1930s. Mr. Beebe attended Kilgore public schools before he served his country in World War II as a naval SeaBee. He worked for Humble Oil Company and afterwards as a welder and pipe fitter, which took he and his family throughout the United States building power plants. Later in life he owned and operated his own construction company.
Mr. Beebe was very influential in many people’s lives. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. Mr. Beebe was an avid golfer and longtime member of Oak Forest Country Club.
Mr. Beebe is survived by his wife, Elva O. Beebe of Kilgore; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Loren Beebe of Gladewater, Donald and Carolyn Beebe of Kilgore and Alan Martin Beebe of Longview; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Jerry Cummins of Gladewater and Maeva and Leroy Chanek of Port Lavada; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald M. Beebe; and a sister, Mildred Gionta.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Baptist Church, 135 Peavine Road, Kilgore, Texas 75662.

WILLIAM A. “BILL” PHILLIPS
Services for William A. “Bill” Phillips, 90, of Kilgore will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with the Rev. Jonathan Latham officiating. Burial will follow in the Bradford Cemetery in Troup. Mr. Phillips passed away Tuesday, June 8, in Kilgore.
Mr. Phillips was born in Madisonville on Aug. 16, 1913 to the late James Edgar and Bertha Lee Phillips. He was a longtime resident of the Kilgore and East Texas area. Mr. Phillips was a retired field foreman from East Texas Salt Water Disposal Co. after many years of service.
Mr. Phillips is preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lois Walker Phillips, who passed away in 1989; two sons, William Burton Phillips and Milton Ray Phillips; and two grandsons, Mark Travis Phillips and Richard Alan Potoczek.
He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Sue Phillips Potoczek of Spring Grove, Ill.; son and daughter-in-law, Travis Wayne and Dianne Phillips of Houston; two sisters, Emma Garrett of Athens and Elva Livingston of Houston; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; as well as many other loving family and friends.
The Phillips family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore Thursday, June 10, from 6 until 8 p.m.

WILMER LEE JACKSON
Funeral services for Wilmer Lee Jackson, 83, of Kilgore will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2004 at New Birth Fellowship Church with the Rev. Gary Walker officiating. Burial will be in the Kilgore Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements are under the directions of Victory Funeral Services. She quietly and peacefully departed this life on Sunday, June 6.
Wilmer Lee Webb Jackson was born May 17, 1921 to the late Henry and Annie Lee Cobb Webb in Smith County. She attended Smith County public schools with the later high school years spent at Douglas High School.
A member of Kilgore Baptist Church, her work life consisted of stints as a cook and a launderer along with her hobbies of quilting and sewing.
In 1940, she married Johnny B. Jackson and they had three children.
Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, James Jackson; five sisters, Everlena Wallace, Lessie Mae White, Christine Pool, Dezell Webb and Verdell Webb; and one great-great-grandchild.
She leaves precious memories with her two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Raymond Moseley and Johnnie and Joe Johnson, all of Kilgore; three sisters, Thelma Williams and Cleo Vault, both of Kilgore, and Connie Trumble of Houston; six grandchildren, Charlene Jackson, Ray Don Moseley, Dewayne Johnson, Melinda Johnson, Kim Johnson and Loretta Johnson; 14 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and one step-daughter, Lenny Hooper; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be from noon until 8 p.m., and the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 11, at Victory Funeral Services.

RODNEY WADE STRUBE
Funeral services for Rodney Wade Strube, 43, of Arlington will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2004 at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Glen Hickman and Ricky Null officiating. Burial will be in the Proctor Cemetery in Proctor with Comanche Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mr. Strube died June 9 in Proctor.
The family will receive friends at Comanche Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
Mr. Strube was born on Sept. 24, 1960 in Columbus to Wayne Strube and Maxine (Henry) Strube. For nine years he was employed as an area manager by A&P Amusements in Kilgore. Mr. Strube was a Baptist.
He was united in marriage to Julie Johnson on June 20, 1992 in Arlington.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, A.J. and Sarah Henry and J.D. and Mildred Strube, and his mother-in-law.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Johnson Strube of Arlington; parents, Wayne and Maxine Strube of Proctor; sister, Debbie Head of Kilgore; brother, Kent Strube of Coppell; and four nieces and five nephews.
The family requests memorials be made to Comanche Community Hospice, 211 South Austin, Comanche, Texas 76442.
