Jesse L. Hayes
Services for Jesse L. Hayes, 96, of Kilgore will be Three O’clock p.m. Friday, March 15, 2002 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore with the Reverend David Hampton and Reverend Earl “Buddy” Duggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery. Mr. Hayes died Thursday in a Kilgore.
He was born September 23, 1905 in Indian Territory, Oklahoma the son of the late Jesse and Gertrude House Hayes. Mr. Hayes had been a resident of the Kilgore area since the early 1960’s. Mr. Hayes worked for various companies in the East Texas Oil Field. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kilgore where he was a member of the Masters Sunday School Class. Mr. Hayes was a member for over fifty years of Danville Masonic Lodge #101, where he was a past Worshipful Master, past Priest of Kilgore Chapter #449, past Commander of Kilgore Commandeer #104, member of the Sharon Temple, Knights Templar, Knight of the York, Security of Honor, life member of Knights Templar Eye Foundation and a Thirty-Second Degree Scottish Rite Mason.
He is survived by his three sons, Jesse O. Hayes of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jim L. Hayes of Kilgore and Garland A. Hayes of Stuttgart, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
His wife Irene Hayes preceded him in death.
The family will receive friends at the Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore, Thursday evening between six and eight p.m.

John Paul Pepitune
Services for Fireman John Paul Pepitune, 22, stationed on the USS George Washington, will be two p.m., Monday, March 18, 2002 at the Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore, Texas with the Reverend Jonathan Latham officiating. Full Military Honors will follow at the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Rusk County, Texas. Mr. Pepitune died March 13, 2002 as the result of an automobile accident January 24, 2002.
He was born August 11, 1979 in Metairie, Louisiana. John Paul attended Jefferson and St. Tammany Parish Public Schools. He was in the Job Corp before joining the Navy. He was a Baptist.
Mr. Pepitune is survived by his mother and step-father, Catherine and Roger Appledorn of Frisco, Texas; father, John O. Pepitune of Metairie, Louisiana; sisters, Michele Young of Tacoma, Washington, Heather Rome of Austin, Texas; grand-parents, Glenna and Tracey Moser of Kilgore, Orlando Joseph and Emily Pepitune of Metairie; great-grand-parents, Russell Lee of Kilgore, Lillian Elizabeth Jobe of Las Vegas, Nevada; numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Rader Funeral Home Sunday evening between six and seven-thirty p.m.
Ethel G. Miller
Graveside services for Mrs. Ethel G. Miller, 89, of Kilgore will be two p.m. Monday, March 18, 2002 at East Lawn Cemetery in Salem, Illinois. Mrs. Miller passed away in Kilgore, Thursday evening, March 13, 2002.
Mrs. Miller was born November 24, 1912 in Salem, Illinois to Earnest and Mary Garner. She had lived in the East Texas area since 1982. Her husband Byron Rollie Miller preceded Mrs. Miller in death in 1936.
Mrs. Miller is survived by her three sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Susan Miller of Gambier, Ohio; Ernie and Annabelle Cruse of Sugar land, Texas; Jerry and Katherine Miller of Kilgore, Texas; Brother and sister-in-law Richard and Lois Garner of Salem, Illinois; Naomi Williams of Salem, Illinois; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore from six to eight p.m. Friday evening.
Larry Richardson
Services for Larry Richardson, 52, of Kilgore will be ten a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2002 at the First Baptist Church with the Reverend David Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in the Danville Cemetery. Mr. Richardson died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 in Temple, Texas.
He was born January 29, 1950 in Palestine, Texas. Larry attended Tyler Public Schools and was a 1968 graduate of John Tyler High School. He obtained his bachelors and masters degree, studying at Texas A&M and Sam Houston State University. He moved to Kilgore in 1978 to work for Acid Engineering where he eventually became Vice-President. Mr. Richardson had a number of oil and gas interests in the East Texas Area. He was a current owner of Bolt Fuel Oil and President of CUDD Pressure Control. Larry was a member of the First Baptist Church, Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and the API. Mr. Richardson was a charitable person who enjoyed Golfing, Farming, and his Family.
He is survived by his wife, Polly Richardson of Kilgore; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Adam Hugh and Brandy Richardson of Kilgore, Clayton Hugh Richardson of Kilgore; one grandson, Dylan Michael Hugh Richardson of Kilgore; mother, Wynell Melton of Tyler; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Matt Holmes of Tyler; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Catherine Horne
Graveside services for Catherine Horne, 90, of Tyler, formerly of Kilgore will be eleven a.m., Friday, March 15, 2001 at the Kilgore Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Michael Dent officiating. She died Tuesday, March 12, 2002 in Tyler, Texas.
Mrs. Horne was born July 12, 1911 in Freison, Louisiana. She moved to Kilgore in 1933. Mrs. Horne was a member of the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church before moving to Tyler in 1967. She was a member of the Marvin United Methodist Church and a life member of the United Methodist Women.
She is survived by two daughters, Ovada Horne of Tyler, Betty Byers of Murrieta, California; one son, Kenneth Horne of Tyler; one granddaughter, Susan Gonzales of Murrieta, California; one great-grandson, Bryan Gonzales of Murrieta, California; one sister, Dorothy Collins of Shreveport, Louisiana, several nieces and nephews.

Maudie Davis Rayford
Services for Mrs. Maudie Davis Rayford, 86, of Temple, formerly of Kilgore will be held at three o’clock p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at the First Baptist Church in Kilgore with the Reverend David Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
Mrs. Rayford was born September 6, 1915 in Coleman, Texas the daughter of the late William and Mamie Helton. She died Monday, March 11, 2002 at the Temple Meridian Healthcare facility. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kilgore and had been a fifty-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Preceding her in death were two husbands, Clyde Cotton and B.M. Davis; a son, William “Bill” Cotton and five brothers, Loy, Charles, Dutch, King and Bailey Helton.
Maudie is survived by her husband Vernon L. Rayford of Temple; a son, Larry W. Cotton, his wife Yolanda and children Patricia, Raul and Jose; five grandchildren, Bob Cotton and wife Jana, David Cotton, John Cotton and wife Traci, Jim Cotton and wife Jamie all of Austin and Judy Cotton Mills and husband Dan of Johnson City; stepdaughter-in-law, Robby Dale Nelson and her daughter, Stephanie Clark; nine great grandchildren, Ashley Cotton, Amber Cotton Gardner, Kate Sawyer, Tess Mills, Bailey Mills, Kenzi Cotton, Ben Cody Cotton, Austin Davis Cotton and Bentley Cotton. She is also survived by two great great grandchildren, Tori Cotton and Nolan Gardner. Maudie was loved by many especially by Margaret Hoskins, Nancy Hundley, Robert Rayford, Janet Cotton Bizzell and Margaret Crim.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Bob Cotton, David Cotton, John Cotton and Jim Cotton, Dan Mills and great grandson Ashley Cotton.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday night from six until seven o’clock p.m.
Billie Sonier
Graveside services for Mrs. Billie Sonier, 87, of Kilgore will be held 2:00P.M. Monday, March 11, 2002 at Rusk County Memorial Gardens near Henderson. Mrs. Sonier died Saturday, March 9, 2002 in a local nursing center.
Mrs. Sonier was born May 17, 1914 in Ohio County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Cleveland and Beatrice Baize. She had been a resident of the Kilgore area since the 1930’s. Mrs. Sonier worked for many years for the Streamliner Restaurant in Kilgore. She was a member of the Nazarene faith and the Rebecca Lodge #216.
Two husbands, James Sonier and Jack Masters, son, J.C. Thompson; two sisters Morene Blue and Clara Pike preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jewel Thompson of Huntington, Texas; son, Larry Gillispie of Phoenix, Arizona; several grandchildren and great grandchildren, niece Betty Gillis of Longview and nephew Sonny Blue of White Oak
Ward Spain
Services for Mr. Ward Spain, 95, of Kilgore will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 9, 2002 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with the Reverends Rusty Silvertooth and Dave Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Spain was born September 20, 1906 in Yellville, Arkansas the son of the late Jim and Laura Spain. He died Wednesday, March 8, 2002 in a Kilgore nursing facility. Mr. Spain was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Kilgore.
Four children Annell Vanoy, James Henry Spain, Evelyn Earline Givens and Alva Roy Cooper and four brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of fourty eight years, Oliva Spain of Kilgore; four children and their spouses Harold and Joan Spain of Etoile, Texas, Roger and Betty Spain of Palestine, Texas, Catherine and James Silvertooth of Kilgore, Texas and Laura Sullivan of Liberty City, Texas; a sister, Inez Ray of Kilgore; twenty grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday night from six until eight at the funeral home.
Tiffany Dawn Ellen Smith
Services for Tiffany Dawn Ellen Smith, 19, of Liberty City will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2002 at the Riverside Cemetery with Pastor Michael Moon officiating. Miss. Smith died Tuesday, March 5, 2002 in Liberty City, Texas.
She was a beautiful young woman who was gifted in poetry, art and music. A beloved daughter, sister and friend, whose presence will be greatly missed. Her presence was that of a bright star; which shone all around her, with grace and splendor that will continue on forever for those who loved her. Her great grandfather Alvin F. Smith preceded Tiffany in death.
Survivors include her father and stepmother Billy Joe and Robyn Smith of Mangum; mother Lahna DeBaun of Longview, Texas; two brothers Jacob Ryan Smith of Mangum, Micah Foster of Kilgore, Texas; stepsister Bridget Fergerson of Mangum; stepbrother Jack Brandon White of Mangum; Grandmother Mary Hardy of Mangum; grandfather Stan Smith of Grants Pass, OR; great-grandmother Eva Lee Taylor; Uncle Steven James Smith and aunt Kathy Smith of San Diego, CA; uncle Johnny Mapula of San Diego, CA; numerous aunts uncles and cousins.
W.H. (Billy) Hendricks
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mr. W. H. (Billy) Hendricks, 86 of Kilgore at 11:00 a.m., Friday March 8, 2002 at Christ The King Catholic Church with Father John Whitsell officiating. Burial will follow at the Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Hendricks passed away March 5, 2002 in Longview.
He was born March 15, 1915 in Ft. Worth, Texas the son of the late James E. and Cora Hendricks. Mr. Hendricks was retired from the Tyler Meat Packing Company. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Mr. Hendricks was a devoted and loving husband and father.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years and mother of his children Juanita Hendricks; four children and their spouses William J. and Diane Hendricks of Carrollton, Texas, David P. and Patricia Hendricks of Dallas, Texas, J. Scott and Patricia Hendricks of Arlington, Texas and Mary Kay Hendricks of Houston, Texas; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family.
Father Carlos Rangel will recite a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home with the family receiving friends afterwards.
Thomas Hearne
Graveside memorial services for Thomas Hearne, 74, of Rusk County, Texas will be four p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at the Hickory Grove Cemetery with the Reverends Dick Dobbins and Charlie Stevens officiating. Mr. Hearne died Sunday evening at his home.
He was born in Missouri on January 28, 1928 to Graham and Julia Drennan Hearne. Mr. Hearne attended Crim’s Chapel Schools and was a graduate of Henderson High School. He earned a Bachelors Degree from Stephen F. Austin State College in Nacogdoches after serving in the Amphibian Forces in the U. S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Hearne retired from Rusk County Electric Cooperative and was a member of the Cross Roads United Methodist Church.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Julie Gale and Larry Tanner of Rusk County, Elizabeth Ann (Liz) and Chuck Johnson of Rusk County; two grandsons, Eric Scott Tanner of Houston, James Crews Johnson of Rusk County; a sister-in-law, Betty Jo Walker of Rusk County; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of many years Annie Bell Black Hearne.

Zell Goodloe
Funeral services for Mrs. Zell Goodloe, 77, of Kilgore formerly of Irving will be held two p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2002 in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Brian Nutt officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery. Mrs. Goodloe died Sunday in Longview.
Mrs. Goodloe was born in Calion, Arkansas on August 7, 1924 to her late parents Ellis and Minnie Avant. She was a graduate of Leverett’s Chapel High School and Kilgore College. Mrs. Goodloe was a bookkeeper for Rogers Truck Lines. She had lived in Kilgore since 1982 moving from Irving. While living in Irving Mrs. Goodloe worked as a secretary with the Irving Independent School District. She was member of the First Assembly of God Church in Kilgore.
Mrs. Goodloe is survived by her husband Laurel Goodloe of Kilgore; son, Larry Goodloe of Kilgore; brother, E.A. Avant, Jr. of Kilgore; granddaughter, Jessica Goodloe of Kilgore; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends
She was preceded in death by her daughter, BeBe Jo Barrett.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from six until eight p.m.
