DON KRUSE
Services for Don Kruse, 59, of Longview were 2 p.m. Thursday, March 18, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Kilgore with the Revs. David Hampton, Frank Mathews and an uncle, the Rev. Dale Stinson, officiating. Burial followed in the Danville Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Kruse died Monday, March 15, in Kilgore.
Pallbearers were Jim Miller, A.P. Merritt, Scott Wright, Joe Travis, Dale McKinnon, Sonny Spradlin, David Carlisle and Casey Smith.
He was born Oct. 16, 1944 in Simms, the son of the late Gussie and Gladys Kruse. He graduated from Kilgore College and the University of Houston, and on Feb. 15, 2003 he was inducted into the Kilgore College Hall of Fame for basketball. He played one year professionally for the Houston Rockets basketball team. He later served on the board of directors at Kilgore College and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kilgore. He had worked for Merritt Tool for 36 years and was an avid sportsman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Skaron Skipper Kruse, and a daughter, Courtney Kruse Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Rikki Kruse of Longview; two daughters, Kellie Kruse and Amber Boswell of Longview; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Melba Johnson of Texarkana and Ruth and Dwight Byrd of Simms; two nieces, Lisa Johnson; two nephews; and several in-laws.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Kilgore or the Kilgore College Athletic Department for the completion of the field house.
DOUGLAS LYNN CLINKSCALES
Services for Douglas Lynn Clinkscales, 71, of The Woodlands will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at Crossroads Baptist Church in The Woodlands with pastor Larry York officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. Mr. Clinkscales went to be with the Lord on May 16 after a courageous battle with cancer.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at Forest Park The Woodlands.
Doug was born to Albert and Gladys Clinkscales on August 6, 1932 in Jefferson, Texas. He attended school in Kilgore, Texas and served four years in the U.S. Navy. He married Janet Bates and moved to Houston in 1957. He was employed for 47 years with Hughes Tool Company now known as Baker Hughes. He served the Lord as deacon in several Baptist churches. Doug will always be remembered for his faith in the Lord, love for his family, honesty, integrity, and his servant heart.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lounette Wilkins.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Janet Bates Clinkscales; sons, Douglas Jay and wife Beth, and Joel Lynn and wife Teresa; five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Daniel, Michael, Hannah and Caleb; brothers, Larry and wife Joann, Tommy and wife Barbara, and Rodney and wife Jean; three sisters, Billye and M. C. Silvertooth, Peggy and Archie Tehan and Patsy Hanson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Clinkscales, Ricky Silvertooth, Howard Husley, Richard Abrahams, Anton Zahradnik and Jack Tipton. Honorary pallbearers will be friend Bill Hulsey and the deacons of Crossroads Baptist Church.
The family wishes to thank the army of prayer warriors from Crossroads Baptist Church as well as Hospice nurse Leigh Gray. In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family request memorials be made in his name to the Building Fund at Crossroads Baptist Church, 6565 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands, TX 77381.
DORIS TYLER SHELTON
Graveside services for Doris Tyler Shelton, 82, of Kilgore will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Jonathan Latham officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mrs. Shelton died Monday, May 17, 2004 at the Gregg Home for the Aged.
Mrs. Shelton was born April 28, 1922 in Rising Star, the daughter of the late Allie and Agnes Tyler. She was a member of the Forest Home Baptist Church and had owned and operated the Campus Lunch Cafe across from the Kilgore High School.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Benjamin Olvin Shelton Jr. of Kilgore; son, Robert “Bob” Benjamin Shelton and wife Alice of White Oak; two daughters, Ruth Ann Smith and husband Ronny of Jefferson and Mary Loraine Hearn of Kilgore; two sisters, Cleta Parsons of Wichita, Kan., and Easter Burna Scott of Hewitt; a brother, Jack Tyler of Brownwood; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 18, at the funeral home.
OSTINE CAMPBELL
Services for Etta Ostine Campbell, 77, of Kilgore will be10 a.m. Thursday, May 20, 2004 at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Freeman Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Campbell died Monday, May 17, in Kilgore.
She was born Feb. 13, 2004 in Center. Affectionately known as “Granny” to her family and friends, Mrs. Campbell was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose legacy includes the memory of her time as a devoted caregiver to her ailing husband. She loved her family and her church, blessing all who knew her with her quick wit and creative talents as a skilled seamstress and wonderful cook. She took great joy in simple pleasures, tending her flowers and in times past, spending her leisure time on the lake catching crappie and bass.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sondra and David Spinks of Kilgore; son, Dan Campbell of Cedar Hill; two sisters, Bobbie Ryals of Woodville and Nancy Glasgow of Haughton, La.; two grandchildren, Chris and Gail Spinks of Pasadena, Calif., and Brad and Ashley Spinks of Canyon Lake; a great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Campbell.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Wednesday evening between 6 and 7:30.

WILL TURNER BABER
Funeral services for Will Turner Baber, 83, Tyler, formerly of Overton, were 2 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2004 in the Cottle-Pearson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in the Overton City Cemetery. Mr. Baber died Saturday, May 15, in a Tyler nursing home.
He was born Sept. 2, 1920 in Paul's Valley, Okla., to the late Lester and Louise Stokes Baber. He is a veteran of the U.S. Marines and worked in pipeline construction for 41 years as a diesel mechanic. His work took him abroad frequently and throughout the continental United States. His last job was on the Alaskan pipeline.
He had lived in Overton for over 35 years and he was a 50-year member of the Masonic Blue Lodge # 671, Hughes Springs and a 32nd degree Mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Jane Baber, on Oct. 22, 1993; a son, Lester Baber; and two brothers, Robert Baber and Joe Baber.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Baber of Fort Worth; a step-son, John Tucker of Overton; a brother, Jack Baber of Tyler; a sister, Frances Arrington of Stephenville; grandchildren, John Baber and Darin Baber; step-grandchildren, Ramona Reed and John William Tucker; two step-great-grandchildren;; a step great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Brian Baber, Ben Arrington, Dan Baber, Shane West, Francis Brown and John Patrick.
MARY FLORENCE CRAWFORD
Funeral services for Mary Alexander Crawford, 70, of Longview will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Jerusalem Baptist Church with the Rev. J.H. Creal officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Springs Cemetery in Scottsville. Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services.
Mary Florence was born Feb. 25, 1934 to Johnnie and Rachel King Alexander in Scottsville. She departed this earthly life on June 12, 2004 at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.
At an early age she united with Shiloh Baptist Church in Scottsville and later joined Longview Baptist Temple where she remained a member until her demise.
She attended Village Creek schools, and her adult life was spent as a devoted wife and homemaker, loving sister and friend to all she knew.
Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a sister, Johnnie Faye Allen; and four brothers, Jack, Perry, Floyd and Smith Alexander.
She leaves to cherish her memories six sisters, Angie Davis, Gladys Mayo, Lubtra Pittman and Ruth Turner, all of Longview, Eula Alexander of Marshall and Minnie Lee Davis of Scottsville; a brother, Raymond Alexander of Oakland, Calif.; one uncle; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will be from noon until 6 p.m. on Friday, June 18, at Victory Funeral Services.
FAYE BRYANT-BARRETT
Funeral services for Faye Bryant-Barrett will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004 at New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. K.B. Henry officiating. The family hour will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 18, in the Stanmore Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in New Hope Community Cemetery.
Mrs. Barrett’s survivors include two brothers and their spouses, Robin and Ann Bryant and Horace and Wilma Bryant, all of Kilgore; sisters, Judy Cotton of Kilgore and Maye Raye of Kansas City, Mo.; a nephew, John Bryant of Kilgore; and a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services for Earl Wayne Brooks, 45, of Kilgore are pending with Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Brooks died Wednesday morning at Laird Memorial Hospital in Kilgore.

NICHOLE PATTON GRIFFIN
Services for Nichole Patton Griffin, 19, of Kilgore were 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with the Rev. Mike Maxwell officiating. Nichole passed away Sunday, June 13, in Kilgore.
Pallbearers were John David, Steven Patty, Lee Dickerson, Chris Griffin, Chris Malone, Brandon Parrish, Dano Offild and Eddie Patton.
Nichole was born in Longview on Oct. 26, 1984, the daughter of Billy and Julie Patton. She attended Kilgore schools and Kilgore College. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter and sister. Nichole enjoyed life to the fullest and especially spending all the time she could with her husband and daughter. She will always be remembered as a Daddy’s girl.
Nichole is preceded in death by her father, Billy Patton; two grandfathers, James Donald Patton and John Russ; and a great-grandfather, Winston Fleming.
Nichole is survived by her husband, Jameson Griffin of Kilgore; daughter, Jadyn Daelynn Griffin of Kilgore; mother, Julie Patton of Kilgore; two brothers, Donald and Matthew Patton, both of Kilgore; mother-in-law, Melba and husband Mike Miles of Kilgore; father-in-law, J.D. and wife Lynda Griffin of Hooks; grandparents, Nadine Russ of Kilgore and Jane and Gene Powell of Longview; great-grandmother, Mattie Fleming of Tyler; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
