James E. "Frito" Killian
Services for James E. “Frito” Killian, 62, of Kilgore will be two p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2003 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend James Griffin officiating. Mr. Killian died Friday, April 19, 2003 in Kilgore.
He was born December 4, 1940 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Killian was a diesel mechanic who formerly operated Killian Truck Service, he had worked for Bolt Fuel Oil and was currently working for Rig Master.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Killian of Kilgore; four children, Steve and Cheryl Dixon of Granbury, Texas, Cathy and Lon Hinton of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Janie Mitchell and Terry Marze of Liberty City, Paul and Wendy Dixon of Kilgore; a sister, Bobbie Silcott of Lubbock; grandchildren, Jeremy Mitchell, Cara Hinton, Stephanie Mitchell, Dustin Dixon, Emily Dixon, Amy Hinton, Molly Dixon, Cody Dixon, Brendan Dixon; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Mr. Killian was preceded in death by his brother and sisters, David Killian, Norma Williams, Reba Jones and Tessie Burba.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Monday evening between six and eight p.m.

Norman "Shorty" LaRoux
Graveside services for Mr. Norman “Shorty” LaRoux, of Kilgore will be held
Four O’clock p.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2003 at the Danville Cemetery with the Reverend Paul Phillips officiating. Mr. LaRoux died Saturday at Laird Memorial Hospital.
Shorty was born in Zwolle, Louisiana son of the late Tommy and Ada LaRoux. He has been a longtime resident of Kilgore working for over 35 years as a machinist for Parts Headquarter and was currently working for Marshalls Do It Best Hardware. He served in the United States Army during World War Two active with the European Theater during which he received numerous Campaign Awards.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years Nettie LaRoux of Kilgore; three brothers, J.T.LaRoux of Synder, Texas, Carlton LaRoux of Blanchard, Louisiana and DeWitt LaRoux of Tyler; one sister, Helen Peacock of Dallas, Texas; several nieces and nephews and host of friends. His son Eddie LaRoux, parents, five brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.

George Babes
Memorial services for George Babes, 90, of Gladewater will be four p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2003 at the First Baptist Church of Liberty City with the Reverend Bruce Wells officiating. Burial was in the Danville Cemetery.
Mr. Babes was born April 26, 1912 in Chicago, Illinois to Romanian parents. He was taken back to Romania as an infant and lived there until he was 14 years old. Mr. Babes spoke five languages. He married Violet Joy Bronaugh in 1946. Mr. Babes was an advertising salesman.
He is survived by his wife Joy Babes of Gladewater; five daughters and sons-in-law, Chris Baker, DDS of Lexington, Kentucky, Georgia and Danny Hastie of Glasewater, Sara and Ken Martin of Arlington, Texas, Vi and Jay Hudlow of Irving, Texas, Rachel and David Epperson of Dallas; a son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Ruth Babes of Magnolia, Texas; 21 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Liberty City.

Tressie Deason
Graveside services for Mrs. Tressie Deason, 93, of Kilgore will be held at ten o’clock a.m. Friday, April 25, 2003 at the Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery with the Reverend David Hampton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mrs. Deason died Wednesday morning in a Kilgore care facility.
She was born August 2, 1909 in Cotton Valley, Louisiana, the daughter of the late William and Maggie Avery. She was a florist, a member of the order of the Eastern Star and a member of First Baptist Church in Kilgore where she sang in the Prime Timers choir and was a member of the Miriam Sunday School class.
Her husband Leon A. Deason preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Leon A. “Dick” Deason of Houston; one daughter and son-in-law, Shalia and Jerry Pybas of Kilgore; three grandchildren and their spouses, Frances and Angus Davis of Houston, Dana Warneke of Austin, Leah and Chad Gorman of Kilgore; four great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other loving family members.
Visitation will be Thursday night from six until eight o’clock p.m. at the funeral home.

James Lloyd Billings
Services for James Lloyd Billings, 76, of Kilgore will be two p.m., Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Earl W. “Buddy” Duggins officiating. Burial will follow in the Danville Cemetery. Mr. Billings passed away Sunday morning at his home in Kilgore.
Mr. Billings was born June 2, 1926 in Harmon, Louisiana. His family relocated to the Kilgore area during the “Boom” years. Mr. Billings attended Leverett’s Chapel School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. After returning from the service he remained in the Kilgore area, retiring from King Tool Company in Longview in 1989. Mr. Billings was a member of the Rocky Mount Lodge, No. 63, AF and AM in Overton, and a member of the Forest Home Baptist Church.
Mr. Billings was preceded in death by his parents J.C. and Annie Lee Billings and his sister Louise Billings Birnie.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Neta Billings of Kilgore; one daughter and son-in-law Brenda and John Terry of Richardson; one son and daughter-in-law J.D. and Wanda Billings of Kilgore; three grandchildren Shawn Billings and wife Rebecca of Kilgore, Michael Terry and April Terry both of Richardson; two great grandchildren Jake and Cassie Billings both of Kilgore; one sister and brother-in-law Helon and Sonny Farmer of Satsuma, Al.; several nieces and nephews as well as aunts including Bernice Jones of Huntsville, TX, Minnie Miller and Evelyn Billings both of Winfield, La.; a special cousin Pat Cox of Crowley, TX; and many close friends and neighbors including, Larry Proctor and Jon Patridge.
The Billings family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. He will be remembered most for his sense of humor and his passionate love and devotion to his family.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and Forest Home Baptist Church Building Fund.

Sidney L. Terry
Services for Sidney L. Terry, 74, of Kilgore will be ten a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2003 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Bill Blanks officiating. Full military honors will follow at the Gum Springs Cemetery, Longview, Texas. Mr. Terry died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 in Tyler, Texas.
He was born August 5, 1928 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Sidney attended Longview High School. Mr. Terry was a career military man. He married Betty Bond in England in 1953. Mr. Terry retired from the United States Air Force on September 13, 1968 after a distinguished career of 23 years. Upon retirement from the military, Sidney pursued his interest in antiques and had a shop in England. Sidney and Betty moved to Clemson, South Carolina in 1982 and opened an antique shop in Pendleton, South Carolina. In the fall of 2001, Sidney and Betty settled in Kilgore. He was a member of the Christian Church and the Disable American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Terry of Kilgore; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Laura Terry of Seneca, South Carolina; a sister Millie Harper of Longview; a brother and sister-in-law, Percy and Margaret Terry of Greenville, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Steven, John, and Abigail Terry all of Seneca; several nieces, nephews and cousins

Shannon Gray
Services for Shannon Gray, 49, of Kilgore will be two p.m., Monday, May 5, 2003 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends Jarmon Hobbs and Danny Westbrook officiating. Burial will follow in the Danville Cemetery. Mr. Gray died Friday, May 2, 2003 in Longview.
He was born February 17, 1954 to Sam and Eula Mae Gray in Longview, Texas. Shannon lived in the Kilgore are all of his life. He was a self-employed contract welder, owning and operating Gray’s Welding Service 25 years. He was a motorcycle enthusiast who loved to ride Harley Davidson Motorcycles with his closet friends. Shannon was an outdoor person enjoyed to hunt and be on the lake.
He is survived by his wife, Eunice Gray of Kilgore; two daughters and a son-in-law, Christina and Caleb Rybeck of Dallas, Shahna Gray of Kilgore; a sister and brother-in-law, Lynette and Danny Branch of Sandia, Texas; a nephew, Shane Gibson of Kilgore; his special companion “Buddy” and a host of special friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon between two and four p.m.

Mary Coffey
Services for Mary Coffey, 88, of Kilgore will be two p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2003 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Chris Vidacovich and Reverend Dr. William J. Ingersoll officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery. Mrs. Coffey died Thursday, May 8, 2003 in Kilgore.
She was born January 5, 1915 in Laredo, Texas. Mrs. Coffey graduated high school in Farmersville, Texas. She was the first lady of Kilgore in 1957. Mrs. Coffey volunteered for the Red Cross where she taught first aid. She had been active in PTA. Mrs. Coffey was a docent at the East Texas Oil Museum. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ where she taught Sunday school over 50 years.
Mrs. Coffey is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence and Libby Laird of Kilgore, Verner and Cheryl Laird of Kilgore; a daughter and son-in-law, Carole Ann and James Miller of Dallas; a brother and sister-in-law, Roland and Margaret Johnson of Abilene, Texas; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Verner Laird and Jean Coffey; grandsons, Slade Newman and Lance Laird.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chandler Street Church of Christ.

Homer T. Simmons
Memorial services for Homer T. Simmons, 72, of Alvarado, Texas will be two p.m., Saturday, May 24, 2003 at the Full Gospel Tabernacle, Alvarado, Texas with Brother Robert Blaze officiating. Mr. Simmons died Tuesday, May 13, 2003 in Kilgore.
He was born February 27, 1931 in Deadwood, Texas. Mr. Simmons attended public schools in Marshall, Texas. He worked in the construction business driving dump trucks and a crane operator. Mr. Simmons enjoyed playing dominos, especially 42 and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Haneva Simmons of Alvarado; two daughters, Ruby Insell of Arlington, Texas, Elizabeth Fagan of Corsicana, Texas; two sons, John Hays of Grand Prairie, Texas, Billy Hays of Cleburne, Texas; two sisters, Georgie Lee Mayfield of Kilgore, Jeanie Baze of Alvarado; one brother, Frank Simmons of Keithville, Louisiana; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jordan Health Services and Greater Hospice of Texas.

Sherry L. Green Simon
Cremation arrangements for Sherry L. Green Simon, 52, of Longview, formerly of Vinton, Louisiana are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mrs. Simon died Friday, May 9, 2003 in Longview.
She was born October 3, 1950 in Orange, Texas the daughter of the late James and Lathell Green. Mrs. Simon was a Volunteer Fire Fighter in Vinton as well as a former co-owner of the Fly by Night Bird Toy Company. She enjoyed raising and showing exotic birds.
Three cousins Andy Hawkins and his wife Valerie of Kilgore, Tony Leach of Stephenville and Dorothy Ruth Ramirez of Austin; several nieces and loving family as well as her former husband Dean Simon of Vinton, Louisiana survive her.
Her brother Roger D. Green precedes her in death.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Mrs. Simon will be held at three o’clock p.m., Sunday, May 18, 2003 at the Pirtle Cemetery pavilion near Kilgore with the Reverend Riley Pippen officiating.

Willie Lockridge
Graveside services for Willie Lockridge, 88, of Kilgore will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at the Woodmen Cemetery, DeKalb, Texas, with the Reverend Gary Boswell of Westview Christian Church in Shreveport, Louisiana, officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 20, 2003, from 6 until 8 p.m. Mrs. Lockridge died, Sunday, May 18, 2003 in Kilgore.
She was born November 5, 1914 in DeKalb, Texas the daughter of William Edgar and Luvnina Anthony Chasteen of DeKalb, Texas. She had lived in Kilgore the past ten years and was a resident of the Gregg Home for the Aged. Mrs. Lockridge lived in Shreveport from 1945 to 1993. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Sam F. Lockridge. She will be laid to rest next to him.
Mrs. Lockridge is survived by her son Roger W. Lockridge and his wife Sarah, of Longview; a grandson, Samuel Scott Lockridge and his wife, Kelli, and their 3 children Daniel , Zachary, and Johnathan of White Oak, a granddaughter, Connie Stewart, and her husband, Mark, and his two children, Rene and Mark of Houston, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 4 brothers, Joe Chasteen, Homer Chasteen, L.O. Chasteen, and A.G. Chasteen. She also had 4 sisters, Lilly Harbor, Minnie Miller, Laura Gaither, and Nina Darnel, who preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church, Westview Christian Church, 7188 Greenwood Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71119; Gregg Home for the Aged, 144 FM Road 1252 West, Kilgore, Texas, 75662 or the charity of choice.
