Jamison, Carl "Dewayne"
Graveside services for Carl “Dewayne” Jamison of 4331 C.R. 217 East, Henderson, Texas will be held at Rusk County Memorial Gardens, Highway 259, Henderson, Texas on Monday, January 26, 2004 at 10:00 a.m.cst. Open visitation will be Sunday, January25, 2004 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.cst. at Rader Funeral Home, Kilgore, TX.
Dewayne was born September 2, 1929 in Gray, Oklahoma to Carl and Cora Jamison. He was the baby of eight children, the last surviving member of his family.
On February 25, 1949 he wed Velma Louise Seay in Wheeler, Texas who preceded him in death on December 12, 2002 after 54 gracious years of marriage. To this union was born four children, 3 daughters; Sharolyn and Terry Tilton of Bullard, TX., Linda and Lonnie Hopson of Henderson, TX., Letitia and Craig Midgett of Amarillo, Tex.; one son Gary and Peggy Jamison of Ariton, Alabama. Gary preceded his parents in death at the age of 36 in 1989.
Dewayne was the proud grandpa of ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. One grandson Caleb Tilton preceded him in death exactly one year before on January 23, 2003.
Dewayne graduated high school at the age of 16, attended college for two years as a Texas Aggie, farmed and raised cattle in northwest Kansas for many years. He later moved his family to Henderson in 1974. He later worked for Tugco, where he later retired as a machinist. After retirement he kept busy with Jamison Stump Removal for many years.
He loved to have family and friends come to visit with him and Velma on the back porch and watch the cows.
Dewayne died January 23, 2004 after a long battle with bad circulation in his legs and had to have them both amputated. He leaves family and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family would also like to thank the many friends who called and came by to comfort Dewayne and Velma through out the years during their time of need. We would also like to thank Robert Harris a very special friend for all his help he has given them.
Pallbearers will be Lyle Tilton, Chad Tilton, Neil Tilton, Chris Hansel, Steven Hopson, and James Gossett.
Hamilton, Gladys
Services for Mrs. Gladys Hamilton, 97, of Kilgore will be Ten O’clock a.m., Thursday, January 29, 2003 at the Chapel at Rader Funeral Home under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with the Reverend Mark Hendrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery. Mrs. Hamilton passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2003 at the Gregg Home For The Aged.
Gladys Cullison Mays Hamilton was born September 3, 1906 in Indian Territory (now Wann, Oklahoma) to William and Jennie Cullison.
Gladys was a wonderful Christian lady who loved her Church family, relatives and friends. Her favorite hobbies were painting and fishing. She was a longtime member of the Kilgore Church of the Nazarene, and had lived in Kilgore since 1931.
Mrs. Hamilton is preceded in death by two husbands Lee Delion Mays in 1934 and Dell D. Hamilton in 1977, one son Melvyn Wayne Mays in 1999, daughter-in-law Mildred Mays in 1977, three sisters, four brothers and two-step sons.
Survivors include one grandson Gregory Lee Mays, great granddaughter Kristen Mays Holcomb, two great great granddaughters Carley and Dallas, one step daughter Muriel Smith, three step sons Durward Mays, Elmer Hamilton and Mack Allen Hamilton, four step daughters-in-law Perla Mays, Minnie Hamilton, Edna Hamilton and Katheryne Hamilton, several step grandchildren as well as many other loving family and friends.

Eunice Maye Terrell Randolph
Memorial services for Mrs. Eunice Maye Terrell Randolph, 74, of Kilgore will at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 5, 2004, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with the Reverend Clayton Hurst officiating. Mrs. Randolph passed away Monday, February 2, 2004 in Longview.
She was born April 25, 1929 in Rusk County, Texas. Mrs. Randolph attended the Laird Hill United Methodist Church. Mrs. Randolph was the last survivor of her parent’s nine children. She was a loving and devoted mother and homemaker.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law Julius Randolph of Kilgore and Jerry and Sandy Randolph of Kilgore; seven grandchildren Clinton James Randolph of Kilgore, Jaime Lynn Kamerman of Iowa, Glenda Michelle Schlief of Wisconsin, Tracy Lynn Aiken of Kilgore, Jennifer Carol Lackey of Kilgore, Micheal Paul Hill of Kilgore and James Hill Randolph of Kilgore; nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews as well as many other loving family and friends.
Mitchell, Cecil
Services for Cecil Mitchell, 91, of Kilgore will be ten a.m. Friday, February 6, 2004 at the St. Luke’s Methodist Church with the Reverend Robert Besser and Reverend Ralph Rudy officiating. Graveside services will follow at two p.m. at the Lynn Flat Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas. Mr. Mitchell died February 4, 2003 in Kilgore.
Mr. Mitchell was born on October 24, 1912 in Nacogdoches County to James and Jessie Mitchell. He grew up on the S.F.A. Campus in a girls boarding house. He worked as a Jr. high principle in Mexia, Texas and was an executive for American General Insurance Company. Mr. Mitchell taught Sunday School all his adult life and was a member of the Lions Club since WW II.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife Mozelle Mitchell of Kilgore; two sons Michael Ward Mitchell of Houston, TX., James Walton Mitchell of Houston, TX.; step-son Danno Drennan; a brother Thomas C. Mitchell of Harrisburg, P.A.; two sisters Emma Joe Myer of Marshall, Ruby Baine of Arlington, TX; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
Massad, Barbara
Service for Barbara Massad, 83, of Kilgore will be ten a.m., Monday, February 16, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Chris Vidacovich and William J. Ingersoll officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery. Following a long illness death came February 13, 2004 for Barbara Massad who was preceded in death by parents O. M. Bratcher and wife Bonnie Deanna Bratcher as well as an only brother, Frank B. Bratcher.
Barbara was born in Childress, Texas, August 18, 1921. Barbara Bratcher was married to Lester Arvil Patton in August 1938, and both attended Oklahoma City Business University. Mr. Patton enlisted in the Navy December 9, 1941; most of his military service was in the Solomon Islands until the end of the war. Mrs. Patton returned to Childress, Texas, where an Army Air Forces Bombardier School was located and was employed in Post Operations as a flight recorder. Mr. and Mrs. Patton and daughter Cheryl Ann Patton moved to Kilgore, Texas in October 1955 where he was employed as City Secretary until his death in November 1958.
Barbara Patton and Jordan M. Massad were married in June 1966. Mr. and Mrs. Massad owned two ladies apparel shops until the shops were sold in 1978. Mr. and Mrs. Massad owned and managed the Pioneer Building in downtown Kilgore until his death in January 1989. Mrs. Massad continued management of business until October 2001 when the building was sold.
Barbara Massad is survived by daughter Cheryl Laird and her husband Verner W. Laird II; grandson Verner W. Laird III and wife Jesses Chan Laird and great grandson William Chan Laird of Irving, Texas; grandson Dr. Roy Clinton Laird, Port Charlotte, Florida; three step grandchildren Joseph Korkmas of Irving, Texas, Marc MacConnell of Houston, Texas and Kelsey MacConnell of Houston, Texas.

Anderson, Jim
Services for Mr. John M. “Jim” Anderson, 76, of Kilgore will be held at two o’clock p.m., Monday, February 16, 2004 at the Highland Park Baptist Church in Kilgore with the Reverend Riley Pippen officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Memorial Gardens cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. He died Friday morning at Roy H. Laird hospital in Kilgore.
Jim was born April 3, 1927 in Jeff Davis County Georgia the son of the late John and Sarah Anderson. Some of his many accomplishments included owning his own barbershop in Premont, TX and later, as a professional musician he played and toured with many western swing bands. He was the foreman for the Howell Coastal Bermuda Ranch and later retired from the Kilgore Police Department as a dispatcher. He sang in the choir at Highland Park Baptist Church in Kilgore and was a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge #101.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years Pat Anderson of Kilgore; two sons and a daughter in law Jimmy and Jo Ann Anderson of Centerville, GA and Lynn Sanders Anderson of San Antonio; a daughter and son in law Rene and James Hill of Kilgore; two sisters, Lena Hunter of Kilgore and Julia Hill of Atlanta, GA and a brother Talmadge Anderson of Hazlehurst, GA; grandchildren and spouses Donald and Allie Anderson of GA, Alyssa Dorman of Kilgore, April and David Knox of Deridder, LA, Jennifer Anderson of Lake Charles, LA and seven great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 4 until 5:30 p.m.
Phillips, Thomas
Mausoleum service for Thomas Phillips, 74, of Kilgore will be 12 noon, Monday, February 16, 2004 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Longview, Texas with Reverend Dr. William J. Ingersoll officiating. Mr. Phillips died Friday, February 13, 2004 in Kilgore.
He was born October 24, 1928 in Conroe, Texas. Mr. Phillips’ family moved to Kilgore in the early 1930’s. He was a graduate of Kilgore High School. Mr. Phillips served our country during WWII in the United States Navy. He attended Kilgore College and Texas A&M University. Mr. Phillips worked for Dowell and Acid Engineering. He was a 32 degree mason, a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge #101, the Sharon Shrine Temple and the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Mary Phillips of Kilgore; a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Francye Phillips of Kilgore; grandchildren, Stephen and Amanda Phillips of Plano, Texas, Shannon and Robert Guttry of Longview, Stacye and Aaron McCollum of Lewisville, Texas; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Carpenter, Louise
Memorial services for Louise Carpenter, 73, of Kilgore, Texas will be two p.m. Monday, February 9, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Charley Stansell officiating. Mrs. Carpenter died Thursday, February 5, 2004 at her residence.
She was born on October 10, 1930 in Malakoff, Texas to Margaret and Howell Spicer. She married James Carpenter in 1946. Her son Jay Carpenter precedes her in death.
Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her husband James “Pop” Carpenter of Kilgore; her son and daughter-in-law James Jr. and Gail Carpenter of Longview; daughters and sons-in-law Sharon Gray of Longview, Janice and Jerry Brown of Longview, Linda and Chris Hardee of Liberty City, Gay and Frank Duncan of Kilgore, Terry Ragan of Longview, Karen and Terry Barton of Longview; a brother Raymond Spicer of Longview; sisters Evelyn Pitts of Longview, Betty Spicer of Corpus Christi; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Forth, David
Services for David Ray Forth, 51, of Kilgore will be held Monday, February 9, 2004 at Eleven O’clock A.M. in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore with the Reverend Frank Matthews and David Hampton officiating. Burial will follow in the Danville Cemetery. Mr. Forth passed away Friday, February 6, 2004 in Kilgore.
David was born October 31, 1952 in Midland, Texas the son of Fred and Dorothy Hill Forth. Mr. Forth had been a resident of Kilgore for many years and was a member of the Kilgore First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Theda Forth of Kilgore, son, Josh Forth of Kilgore; daughter, Heather Forth of Kilgore; parents Fred and Dorothy Forth; two stepdaughters, Michelle Huffman and Monica Mitchell both of Kilgore; brother, Greg Forth of Henderson; sister Susan Hooten of Kilgore; five grandchildren.
Cecil, Jack
Jack William Cecil of Kilgore, Texas passed away February 9, 2004 after a lengthy illness. Jack was Born August 30, 1919 in Asher, Oklahoma to Marion D. and Lydia M. Cecil. He was a long time resident of Kilgore and a member of St. Lukes’ United Methodist Church. Jack retired in 1986 after 30 years of service from Tri State/ Baker Hughes Tool Companies. He was an avid sportsman and loved the outdoors. He was a WWII veteran serving in the Merchant Marines.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Hyahwanah Cafer Cecil; 3 children Lydia Ford of Dallas, Randy Cecil and wife Neva, of Richardson and Cynthia Siebert of Kilgore. Mr. Cecil has 4 grandchildren, Theresia Woolsey of Austin, Shannon Siebert Hendrick and husband Mike of Kilgore, Toby and Todd Cecil of Richardson; and 2 great-granddaughters Stephanie and Alycia Woolsey of Austin.
Funeral Services are 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 11, 2004, at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Reverend Robert Besser officiating. Interment will follow at Kilgore Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M. Tuesday, February 10, 2004, at Rader Funeral Home.

Nix, John H.
Services for Mr. John H. Nix, 80, of Marshall, formerly of Kilgore, will be two o’clock in the afternoon, Thursday February 19, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Bill Webb officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Nix passed away Monday in Marshall.
Mr. Nix was born October 28, 1923 in Brown Springs, Arkansas to the late Hansell and Beatrice Foster Nix. He was a member of the Summit United Methodist Church in Marshall. Mr. Nix was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved squirrel hunting, fishing and gardening. Mr. Nix served in the United States Army during WWII where he was a member of the 45th Infantry Division of the Thunderbirds. He was the recipient of numerous decorations and citations including the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, American Defense Service Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with five Bronze Stars and Bronze Indian Arrowhead and Good Conduct Medal. He was stationed in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, Belgium, Holland, Luxemburg and France where he was wounded. Mr. Nix was also involved in the Anzio Beachhead invasion. He was a lifetime member of the D.A.V. and V.F.W. Mr. Nix was a member of the Danville Masonic Lodge #101.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Betty Nix of Marshall; three children and their spouses David H. and Mellisa Nix of Jefferson, Beverly and Edgar Rachal of Kilgore, Joni and Dallas Rogers of Marshall; one brother Chalma Nix of Azle; ten grandchildren John David Nix, Angie Nix, Clay Kumlangngam, Kahlan Alley, Renee White, Robin Tucker, Carrie Loy, Dallas Rogers, Jr., Carmen Hinton and Karen Broyles; seventeen great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family.
The family of Mr. Nix will receive friends Wednesday evening from six until eight p.m. at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore.
