Pierce, Robert R.
Graveside services for Mr. Robert R. Pierce, 81, of Kilgore will be held at four o’clock p.m., Saturday February 28, 2004 at the Isabelle Chapel Cemetery at Mt. Enterprise under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. He died Thursday, February 26, 2003 at his residence.
He was born July 15, 1922 in Mt. Enterprise, Texas the son of the late Delmar and Allie Pierce. He was a United States Army Veteran and had worked in aircraft manufacturing for the LTV Company.
His brother Griff Pierce preceded him in death.
Survivors include a sister, Anne Mae Chapman of Henderson; nieces and nephews, Shirley Pierce of Longview, Beverly Haney of Henderson, Robert L. Pierce of Kilgore, Michael Lee of Henderson and Karen Davis of Kilgore.

Thompson, Callie
Graveside services for Mrs. Callie Bean Thompson, 92, a woman of Cherokee Indian heritage will be held at ten o’clock a.m., Friday, March 5, 2004 at the Kilgore Cemetery with the Reverends Ralph Rudy and Pam Besser officiating. Burial is under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. She died Tuesday, March 2, 2004 in Kilgore.
Mrs. Thompson was born August 18, 1911 in Kilgore, the daughter of the late Nat and Candase Bean, an early pioneer family of Kilgore. She worked 17 years as a Librarian for the Kilgore Public Library as well as teaching school. Mrs. Thompson was a 69 year member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and attended the Suzana Wesley Sunday School Class. She was a class of 1932 graduate of Texas A&M at Commerce.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law Douglas Thompson of Kilgore and Thomas and Sandra Thompson of White Oak; sister Lucy Bean Jones of Plano; two grandchildren Mark Thompson of Kilgore and Jordan Starr Corcoran of Big Sky, Montana as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family.

Riley, Barbara
Services for Barbara Riley, 56, of Carthage, formerly of Kilgore, will be held at eleven a.m., Saturday, March 6, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dale Reed officiating. Burial will follow in the Long Branch Cemetery, Panola County, Texas. Mrs. Riley died Wednesday, March 3, 2004 at her home in Carthage following a lengthy illness.
She was born April 2, 1947 in Carthage. Mrs. Riley was a homemaker and a member of the Carthage Missionary Baptist Church in Carthage, Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Angie Reid Jorgensen and her husband Richard Jorgensen of Plano, Texas; a son Bobby Darrell Reid of Carthage; her mother, Mae Kelley of Carthage; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Malcolm Sparks of Henderson, Eddie and Linda Sparks of Kilgore, Larry Sparks of Carthage; two granddaughters, Ellen Reid and Anna Windsor of Kilgore; three aunts, Nig Davenport and Fern Birmingham of Carthage, Texas, and Vera Marshall of Nacogdoches. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Riley, father Ernest Sparks, and granddaughter, Patricia Faith Butts.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore Friday evening between six and eight p.m.

Smith, Richard E.
Funeral service for Richard E. Smith, 59, of Kilgore will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, March 10, 2004 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore with Brother Paul Silvey and Brother Tom Brown officiating. Mr. Smith died Sunday, March 7, 2004 in a Longview hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born December 28, 1944 in Laird Hill, Texas son of the late Ples and Carrie Smith. Richard was a self-employed truck drive. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandpa and will be loved and remembered forever. Richard’s kindness will be dearly missed by all of those who were blessed to know him.
He is survived by his bride of 35 years Janie Smith of Kilgore; two sons, Clayton Smith of Huntsville, TX., Jake Hester and wife Connie of Longview; daughter, Tina Brown and husband Tom of Richardson, TX.; grandchildren, Hannah, Natalie, Courtney, Nate, Wesley, Marcee and Bethany Brown all of Richardson, TX.; special cousin, Jerry Reeves of Indian Springs, NV.; sister, June Montana of Kilgore; several nieces, nephew ,cousins and one aunt.
Pallbearers will be Jerome Denmon, Danny Raven, Bill Salmon, Dale Easterling, J.B. Light and Rocky Bumgardner
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m.

Conner, Virginia Lynn
Graveside services for Virginia Lynn Conner, 65, of Kilgore will be held on Friday, March 12, 2004 at the Kilgore City Cemetery at 10:15am, with a memorial service to follow at 11:00am at First Christian Church, Kilgore with Reverend Bill Blanks officiating.
She was born on February 19, 1939 in Alice, Tx., to Maurine (Bolt) and Irvine Hunter, and passed away on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 in Kilgore. Virginia, known as Gigi to her 7 grandchildren, graduated from Kilgore High school in 1956, and attended North Texas State University. In 1957 she married Tom Conner, also of Kilgore. Upon Tom’s graduation from Texas A&M in 1961, Virginia and Tom set upon an adventure that would take them and their 3 boys literally around the world. Virginia, Tom and the boys moved from Texas to Louisiana and back to Texas, to Germany, to Virginia, to Saudi Arabia, back to Virginia, and finally back home to East Texas.
Each new place she lived brought its own excitement and memories. From the excitement of the first job out of college in Fort Worth, to the brief time of caring for twin infant girls in New Orleans her life was filled with hope. From the tulips of Amsterdam to the peaks of the Alps, from the castles along the Rhine River to white Christmases celebrated in the midst of the Kriskringle market in Nueremberg, Virginia’s life was filled with the creation of lifelong family memories. From the apple orchards of Virginia to the star filled nights of the Arabian Desert, her life was filled with fun and wonderment. And from the rolling hills of the Shennandoah Valley to the familiar sights and sounds of east Texas, Virginia’s life was filled with the love of family and friends. She always praised God for His goodness and thanked Him for the love and grace that she received from Him through His Son, Jesus The Christ.
At each new place, Virginia was always fully engaged. From volunteering to help those in need to leading the charge at countless school fund raisers. She spent many years in the insurance business including owning her own agency, and worked in the school system both overseas and in the U.S. She was appointed as the first ever female school board member in Frederick County, VA.
She is survived by her husband, of 47 years, Tom Conner, three sons and daughters-in-law; Chris and Polly Conner of Ft. Campbell, Ky., Ross and Janice Conner of Olathe, Ks., and Judd and Sharon Conner of Gulf Breeze, Fl.; sister, Julie Westrom of Dallas; two brothers and sisters-in-law; David and Katie Morgan of Spokane, Wa., and Daniel and Carol Morgan of Tyler; grandchildren Ross, Jake, Kylie, Michael, Sam, Maddie, and Joe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends and family at Rader Funeral Home from 6 - 8pm on Thursday evening.

Burns, Jr., LeeRoy
Funeral service for LeeRoy Burns, 56, of Kilgore will be held Two O’clock in the afternoon, Thursday, March 11, 2004 in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore with Brother James Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Kilgore Memorial Gardens. Mr. Burns died Monday, March 8, 2004 at the V.A. Hospital in Dallas.
He was born June 25, 1947 in Kilgore son of the late LeeRoy and Anna Burns. LeeRoy was a member of Elder Estates Baptist Church. He worked as a meat cutter for Safeway warehouse in Garland and later in life worked as a machinist and then as an independent truck driver. Mr. Burns served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of James Ladd Burgess Masonic Lodge of Dallas and was a Shriner. LeeRoy will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Fannie Mae Burns of Kilgore; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vicki Fleming and Eddie of Kilgore and Lisa Stewart and Blaine of Kilgore; Sister and Brother-in-law, Ann Cagle and Billy of Klondike, Texas; three granddaughters, Malayna Cheyenne Stewart, Desiree` Fleming and Kamryn Aleigha Stewart all of Kilgore; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6 – 8 p.m.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Elder Estates Baptist Church in Kilgore.

Frederick, Joyce Lambeth
Services for Joyce Lambeth Frederick, 67, of Tatum will be held at four o’clock p.m., Monday, March 15, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel in Kilgore with the Reverend A.D. Spears officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore City Cemetery. She died Wednesday March 10, 2004 at her residence.
She was born April 6, 1936 in Gregg County, Texas the daughter of the late Bob and Lottie Lambeth. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church in Longview.
A husband, Marion Curnutt preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter in law Royce Frederick of Longview and Bobby and Susan Curnutt of Kilgore; a brother J.B. Lambeth of Brazil; five grandchildren, Shalen Curnutt of Oak Hill, Amber Curnutt, Whitney Curnutt, Bobby Curnutt, Kyle Curnutt all of Kilgore and one great granddaughter.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from three until five o’clock p.m.

Jenkins, Rans
Graveside services for Rans Jenkins, 82, of Kilgore will be ten a.m., Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at the Rusk County Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Buddy Duggins officiating. Mr. Jenkins passed away Sunday morning, March 14, 2004 at his home.
He was born November 17, 1921 in Paris, Texas. Mr. Jenkins was a graduate of Paris High School. He served our country in WWII as a 1st Lieutenant in the U. S. Army. After the war he moved to Kilgore where he worked for Gulf Oil Company. Mr. Jenkins re-enlisted in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Jenkins Pump Company and Service Electric before his retirement. Mr. Jenkins was a longtime member of Forest Home Baptist Church. He was a 50-year member of the Danville Masonic Lodge. Mr. Jenkins was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Lavelle Jenkins of Kilgore; a daughter, Randi Jenkins of Kilgore; a sister, Pat Dockery of Paris, Texas; his mother-in-law, Annie R. Dorsey of Henderson; five grandchildren, Annie Pack, Laine Pack, Olivia Pack, Alex Pollick and Josh Pollick all of Kilgore; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Home Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Monday evening between six and seven-thirty p.m.

Spicer, Mary
Graveside services for Mary Spicer, 88, of Dallas will be at Two O’clock in the afternoon Tuesday, March 9, 2004, at Kilgore City Cemetery with the Reverend David Hampton officiating.
Mrs. Spicer passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 7, 2004. She was born April 26, 1915, in Oenaville, Texas the daughter of Joseph and Marie Stanecek. She served over thirty years as a Registered Nurse and will live on in the hearts of the many lives she touched. Her tremendous love of life, family, and friends, generosity, kindness, loyalty sense of humor, and beautiful smile will be remembered and cherished by all that knew her.
Mary was a beloved mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter; Bonnie, three grandchildren; Chris, Jennifer, and Katherine, four great-grandchildren. As well as a sister; Dale, and two brothers; Joe and Robert.

Kruse, Don
Services for Don Kruse, 59 of Longview will be held at two o’clock p.m., Thursday, March 18, 2004 at the First Baptist Church in Kilgore with the Reverends David Hampton, Frank Mathews and an uncle Reverend Dale Stinson officiating. Burial will follow in the Danville Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Kruse died Monday, March 15, 2004 in Kilgore.
He was born October 16, 1944 in Simms, Texas the son of the late Gussie and Gladys Kruse. He graduated Kilgore College and the University of Houston and on February 15, 2003 he was inducted into the Kilgore College Hall of fame for basketball. He played one year professionally for the Houston Rockets basketball team. He later served on the board of directors at Kilgore College and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kilgore. He had worked for Merritt Tool for 36 years and was an avid sportsman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Sharon Skipper Kruse and a daughter Courtney Kruse Smith.
He is survived by his wife Rikki Kruse of Longview; two daughters Kelli Kruse and Amber Boswell of Longview; two sisters and a brother in law Melba Johnson of Texarkana, TX and Ruth and Dwight Byrd of Simms, TX; mother and father in law Thomas and Ann Barkett of Longview; sister in law Kathy Wright and her husband Scott of Hawkins; a brother in law Scott Skipper and his wife Kellye of Longview; former mother in law Mrs. Jack Skipper of Kilgore; two nieces, Lisa Johnson and Lauren Skipper; two nephews, Cody Skipper and J. T. Skipper.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday night, March 17 from six until eight o’clock p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church in Kilgore or the Kilgore College Athletic Department for the completion of the field house.

Milner, Mike
Graveside Services for Mike Milner, 89, of Kilgore will be ten a.m., Wednesday, March 24, 2003 at Kilgore Cemetery with the Rabbi Neal Katz officiating. Mr. Milner passed away Monday, March 22, 2004 at Hospice Home Place in Tyler.
He was born September 9, 1914 in Cork City, Ireland son of Michael and Margaret Milner. Mr. Milner served in the United State Navy during World War Two. He was a gentle soul and we will miss him.
He is survived by his wife, Lilyan Milner of Kilgore; son, Harry P. Milner of Kilgore; daughter, Maureen Milner Simpson and husband Ken of Tyler; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from six until seven p.m. Tuesday.
