Cole, Wanda
Services for Mrs. Wanda E. Blevins Cole, 92, of Kilgore will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 25, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverends James Henderson and Bill Gilmore officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery. Mrs. Cole passed away Tuesday morning, March 23, 2004, in Kilgore.
Mrs. Cole was born August 5, 1911 in Alma, Arkansas to the late James Arthur and Addie Lee Blevins. She was a longtime faithful member of the Eastview Baptist Church. Mrs. Cole was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker.
Mrs. Cole is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-eight years James Thomas “Tom” Cole who passed away in 1999.
Survivors include three sons and one daughter. Dwight Cole of Emerald Bay in Smith County, James Jr. and Clyda Cole of Longview, Ronnie and Judy Cole of Kilgore, Lee Ann and Bill Gilmore of Arlington; one brother and sister-in-law, Itis and Dorothy Blevins of Alma, Arkansas; one brother-in-law Glen Pound of LaJoya, California; nine grandchildren, Ron Cole, Ronna Kay Cole, Bryan Cole, Tamie Cole, Dena Woodard, Gena Matthews, Kim Gilmore, Mike Gilmore, and David Gilmore; fifteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Burkett, Samuel
Masonic Graveside Services for Samuel F. Burkett, 90, of Kilgore will be held Ten O’clock in the morning, Friday, March 26, 2004 at Kilgore Memorial Gardens Hwy. 31 West in Kilgore. Mr. Burkett passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2004 in a Longview nursing center.
Mr. Burkett was born November 16, 1913 in Livingston County, Illinois son of Grover and Lozena Burkett. He worked as a Construction Superintendent for Roy W. Green Company. Mr. Burkett was a member of Danville Masonic Lodge #101. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star.
Mr. Burkett is survived by his three sons, Keith Burkett and his wife Theresa of Kilgore, Darryl Burkett and his wife Carla of Kilgore and Samuel Myron Burkett of Plano; daughter, Martha Finnegan of Streator, IL; sister, Hazel Marie Manning of McKinney; three half-sisters, Dorothy Davis and Norma Ruth Hardy of Mount Carmel, IL and Wilma Moore of Ellery, IL.; half-brother, Grover Burkett of Dundas, IL; three grandchildren, Monica Burkett of Tyler, Chris Burkett of Longview and David Burkett of Longview. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice Irene Burkett; sister Muriel Dady; two brothers, Lloyd Burkett and Kenneth Burkett; and two half sisters Shirley Williams and Carolyn Murphy.
The Family wishes to express special gratitude to Wesley, Gary and Joe Green and families of Longview, Gloria and Ronald Cochran and to the staff of Highland Pines Nursing Home of Longview.

Farmer, Tom
Graveside services for Mr. Tom Farmer, 92 of Kilgore will be held at two o’clock p.m., Friday, March 26, 2004 at the Kilgore City Cemetery with Reverend Dr. William J. Ingersoll officiating, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mr. Farmer died Thursday, March 25, 2004 in a Kilgore nursing home.
He was born February 3, 1912 in Ft. Worth, Texas. Mr. Farmer married Kelly and Fay Dickson’s daughter, Billijean, August 27, 1937. He was a Barber and the Southwest AAU Heavyweight lifter in 1940.
Survivors include his wife Billijean Farmer of Kilgore and a sister in law and her husband Winter and Jack Elder of Kilgore; several nieces and nephews including Dr. Jack Elder of Longview and Susie Merritt of Kilgore.
Hendrix, Janice
Services for Janice Owens Hendrix, 51, of Kilgore will be held at two o’clock p.m., Monday, March 29, 2004 at the Full Gospel Assembly Church with the Reverend Roy Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. Mrs. Hendrix passed away Thursday, March 25, 2004 at her home in Kilgore.
She was born January 9, 1953 in Kilgore, the daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Owens. She worked as a cook in many of the restaurants around Kilgore and was a faithful member of the Full Gospel Assembly Church in Kilgore.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Robert Hendrix, Jr. of Kilgore; two children, Robert Hendrix III and Sherrie Segura both of Kilgore; her sister Patsy Gordon and a brother Jimmy Owens both of Mabank and a brother Michael Owens of Kilgore; three grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other loving family.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 3 until 5 o’clock p.m.

McGill, Herman
Services for Herman McGill, 78, of Irving formerly of Kilgore will be four p.m., Friday, April 2, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, Kilgore, Texas with the Reverend Chris Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in the Kilgore Cemetery. Mr. McGill passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004 in Irving, Texas.
Herman Douglas McGill was born in Smackover, Arkansas on December 21, 1925. After his father and mother, Willie Floyd McGill and Minnie Ola McGill moved to Texas, Herman grew up in the East Texas piney woods. He graduated at 16 years of age from Rocky Mount High School near New London, Texas. Herman was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 20 years and was a regular Guest speaker for many AA functions. He loved people and was known for his kindness and desire to help others. Mr. McGill owned and operated a television service company. After his retirement he worked for his son Barry as an installation supervisor.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Joanne McGill of Bowie, Texas, Pete and Linda McGill of Tatum, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jim Wilson of Lake Dallas, Texas; two brothers, Willie McGill of Kilgore, Bob McGill of Miles, Texas; five grand children, Ricky Richardson, Scott Wilson, Tim McGill, Jennifer Harris, and Tracey Taylor; four great grandchildren, Taylor McGill, Isabella McGill, Van Isaac Taylor, and Caleb Scott Harris; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members. He will be greatly missed by all
His sister, Irene Hayes, preceded Mr. McGill in death.

Waller, Syble
Services for Syble Waller, 85, of Kilgore will be ten a.m., Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Byron Allen and Reverend Freeman Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in the Crims Chapel Cemetery. Mrs. Waller died Thursday, April 1, 2004 in Kilgore.
She was born December 17, 1918 in Rusk County, Texas. Mrs. Waller was a member of the Laird Hill Baptist Church and a hairdresser for many years.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Glenda (Dene) Waller of Kilgore; daughter and son-in-law, Frankie and Mike Shotwell of Kilgore; daughter-in-law, Jimmie Faye Waller of Laird Hill; sister, Willie Moreland of Irving, Texas; four sister-in-laws; three brothers-in-law; many grand and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Waller was preceded in death by her husband Willis Waller; son, Woodrow Waller; two brothers; two sisters; an infant son and a grandson, Allen Waller.

Mr. Roger Weathersby
Funeral Services for Mr. Roger Weathersby, 53, of Longview will be held Two O’clock in the afternoon, Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore with the Reverend Jim Kennedy and Reverend Jason Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery in Longview. Mr. Weathersby passed away Friday in Shreveport.
Roger Weathersby was born July 16, 1950 in Abilene, Texas. He had been a resident of the Longview-Kilgore area for over twenty years. Mr. Weathersby was currently working in Kilgore at The Donut Shop, but had worked many years at Axelson Company and also had worked at many restaurants around the area.
Mr. Weathersby is survived by his wife, Linda Weathersby of Longview; one son Andy Weathersby of Liberty City; four step-sons, Eddy Eades and his wife Mary of Gilmer, Billy Eades and his wife Audra of Kilgore, Joe Boehm of Livingston and James Phillips and his wife Rhonda of Kilgore; step-daughters, Shirley Holman of Liberty City and Lisa Bloomfield and her husband James of Arlington; one sister, Rebecca James and her husband Harvey of Abilene; brother, Russell Weathersby of Tuscola; ten grandchildren, Chris Thornton, Amanda Thornton, Alex Eades, Cody Eades, Travis Eades, Sara Eades, Maegan Eades, Sarah Gregg, Carl Gregg and Tiffany Phillips; one great grandson, William Allen Thornton.

BILLY RAY MCGEE
Graveside services for Billy Ray McGee, 63, of Kilgore will be held Monday, April 5, 2004 at Two o’clock in the afternoon at the Walnut Grove Cemetery near Garrison, Texas with the Reverend James Johnson officiating. Mr. McGee passed away Thursday in a Houston, Texas hospital.
Bill was born September 2, 1940 in Longview the son of the late Charley and Lillian McGee. Mr. McGee had been a resident of Kilgore for many years and worked as a truck driver. He will be remembered the love he had for his family and spending countless hour playing with his grandchildren.
Mr. McGee is survived by his son, Allen McGee of Greensboro, North Carolina; two sisters, Grace Harp of Houston and Bettie Floch of Huffman; two brothers, Charles McGee of Kilgore and Bobby McGee of Crosby; two grandchildren, Shelby McGee and Alex McGee both of Kilgore. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen McGee; son, Charles Ray McGee and a brother Jackie McGee

Cook, Pat
Services for Pat Cook, 92 of Benton, Arkansas, formerly of Kilgore, Texas will be ten a.m., Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at the First Christian Church with the Reverend Bill Blanks officiating. Burial will follow in Kilgore Cemetery. Mrs. Cook died Friday, April 30, 2004 in Benton, Arkansas.
She was born September 28, 1911 in Kirvin, Texas to J. B. and Maud Teer. She moved to Kilgore, Texas in 1934. Mrs. Cook was a longtime member of the First Christian Church where she was active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She retired from the Kilgore Independent School District.
Mrs. Cook is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Patsy Weatherford of Benton, Arkansas, Sherry and Bill Spurgeon of Alexander, Arkansas; a daughter-in-law, Betty Cook of Silverdale, Washington; one sister, Delle Erskine of Tehuacana, Texas; and, one brother, Henry Teer of Fairfield, Texas, fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lymon Hall Cook and a son Richard Cook.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore Monday evening between six and seven-thirty p.m.

McWhorter, Precious Mary Jane
Services for Precious Mary Jane McWhorter, 94, of Longview will be two p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2004 at Rader Funeral Home Chapel of Kilgore with the Reverend A.D. Spear and Reverend Tim Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in the Grice Cemetery, Grice, Texas. Mrs. McWhorter died Thursday, April 29, 2004 in Longview.
She was born April 1, 1910 in Temple, Oklahoma. Mrs. McWhorter attended public schools in Mineola, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana. She moved to Longview in 1934 where she raised her family. Mrs. McWhorter was a member of the United Pentecostal Church. Later in life, she moved back to Mineola and went to nursing school where she obtained her LVN. She was a homemaker and a seamstress.
Mrs. McWhorter is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Edith V. and Deo E. Welch, Jr. of Longview, L. Claudette and Earle Stairs of Lehigh, Florida, Alice G. and Charles Dryden of Longview; a son-in-law, Farris Stanford of Longview; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lin McWhorter and a daughter, Lois Lewellin Stanford.
