Merry Lee Owens
Funeral services for Merry Lee Owens, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Beard Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Homer Pacely, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Coaxberry cemetery in Navasota by Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview
Mrs. Owens died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at her residence.
She was born Feb. 7, 1917, in Anderson. She had lived in Plainview since 1937, moving from Navasota. A housekeeper, she was a member of Beard Chapel Methodist Church, the Women´s Study Club and the Adult Women´s Study Club.
She married
Charles Owens on Nov. 5, 1951, in Clovis, N.M. He died in 1970.
Survivors include an aunt, Rebecca White of Caldwell; 11 cousins, Barbara Millines and Lizzie Reynolds of Oxnard, Calif., Charles Austin White, Jerrel White, Nancy Hearne, Belzeora Thomas and Mac Arthur White and Howard and Letonia White of Houston, Luvenia James of Navasota, Herman Debose of Anderson and Dorothy Powell of Baytown; and a niece, Hazel McCray of Plainview.
A brother, Drue Debose, is deceased.

Ruby Marie Willis
HURST Funeral services for Ruby Marie Willis, 87, will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Chapel.
Graveside services will be at Little Elm cemetery in Denton County. Arrangements are by Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
Mrs. Willis died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, in Fort Worth.
She was born Feb. 17, 1916, in Denton County and was a retired school cafeteria worker.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy M. Willis of Waco; four sons, Gary D. of Decatur, David J. Willis of Austin, Freddy N. Willis of Plainview and Carroll G. Willis of Hurst; six grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Her parents, brothers and sisters are deceased.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to missions organizations of choice or to All Saints Hospice.

Joice Winnell Young
Funeral services for Joice Winnell Young, 64, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Seth Ward Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Ritter officiating.
Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Young died at 11:42 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at her residence.
She was born July 8, 1939, in Mills County. She married
Elvin Young on June 21, 1959, in Plainview. He died Feb. 16, 2001.
Mrs. Young graduated from Plainview High School in 1957 and attended Watson Business School in Plainview.
Mrs. Young worked for Kmart for 21 years.
She was a den mother of Cub Scout Pack 201 in Kress and was inducted into the Haynes District Boy Scouts Hall of Fame in February 1994.
She was active in Kress PTA, leader of Act Teens for First Baptist Church in Kress, member of the Home Demonstration Club and an active member of Seth Ward Baptist Church.
Her father, Thomas E. “Tom” Clover died on April 8, 1992.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie and Mike Ferguson of Plainview; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Thomas and Debbie Young of Plainview and Lester Young of Kress; her mother, Altha Clover of Plainview; five sisters and three brothers-in-law, Bonnie and L.V. Youngblood of Weatherford, Nelda and Donnie Hopkins of Jacksboro, Eunice and Kenneth Frost of Arlington, Sue McKinney of Amarillo and Judy Clover of Dallas; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; five nieces; five nephews and one aunt, Nettie Daugherty of Austin.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Lemons Funeral Home.

Edgar Hammond
FLOYDADA Funeral services for Edgar M. Hammond, 83, will be at 2 p.m. today at Moore-Rose-White Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Anthony D. Sisemore, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be Monday at New Hope cemetery in Milam by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home of Floydada.
Mr. Hammond died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Floydada Rehab and Care Center.
He was born Jan. 24, 1920 in Iola to Morrison and Margaret Hammond. He graduated from Iola High School in 1939. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving in New Guinea, Southern Philippines and was awarded two Bronze Stars.
He married
Doris Marie Shue on Dec. 7, 1946, in Kountze.
He worked in the shipyards and sheet metal business before moving to Floydada in 1952 and establishing Hammond Sheet Metal Company as owner and operator. He retired in 1986 after installing heating and air conditioning for 34 years in countless homes and businesses in Floyd and surrounding counties.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Oddfellows and the city council.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda and Wesley Johnson of Spring and Rebecca Hammond of Viterbo, Italy; two grandchildren, Trisha Gonzales and husband, Danny, of Port Neches, and Charles Marler and wife, Emily, of Round Rock; seven great-grandchildren; five nieces and one nephew.
Two brothers, Cleo Hammond and George Hammond; a son-in-law, Richard Marler; and two great-grandsons, Jacob Marler and Justin Marler, are deceased.

Dr. Guy Kindred
DALLAS Funeral services for former Plainview physician Dr. Guy Ben Kindred, 73, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Restland Memorial Chapel.
Dr. Kindred died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, after a brief battle with gioblastoma multiforme.
He was born on Feb. 2, 1930 in San Angelo, the youngest of seven children of Wynema Botts and William Harvey Kindred. His father was minister of the First Christian Church in San Angelo and an evangelist.
He graduated from San Angelo Lakeview High School in 1947 where he was an outstanding athlete and began college at Sul Ross State University, majoring in geology.
He later earned degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and Southwestern Medical School in 1962.
In 1961, he married
Miriam Stephens and they moved to Plainview where he joined the Medical Center Clinic as a general practitioner.
While in Plainview he fulfilled a lifelong desire to fly and also served as an FAA Flight Examiner. In 1972, he returned to Dallas to do a residency in psychiatry at Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital and became Board Certified in 1975.
He was on staff at Medical City, Baylor Hospital, Presbyterian, Richardson General, UT Southwestern, Charter and Timberlawn.
An expert skier, he was past president of Dallas Ski Club, member of Bent Tree Country Club and Chandlers Landing Yacht Club. He was a lifetime member of the Texas Ex Alumni Association.
Survivors include his wife, Miriam; a son, Gary Ben; a daughter, Valli; two sisters, Dorothy Collier of San Angelo and Ruth Johansen of Hawaii; three grandchildren, Stephanie Riggs, Jason Kindred and Sara Kindred; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Roy, Robert, and Jim; his sister, Mary Kindred Lawson; and two sons, Byron Dennis and Guy Stephen.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. today at Restland Funeral Home and suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or Brain Tumor Research.
