Ruth Buchanan
Funeral services for Ruth Buchanan, 90, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Lemons Memorial Chapel with her son, the Rev. A.B. Buchanan, pastor of Heber Valley Baptist Church in Heber City, Utah, officiating.
Burial will be in Silverton cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Buchanan died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in St. Anthony´s Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla.
She was born Feb. 27, 1909, in Kennedale and grew up in Kennedale and Roscoe. She attended school in Silverton and graduated from Silverton High School. She moved to Brownfield in 1940, then to Plainview, and to Hale Center in 1955.
She worked for College Hill Day Care Center for 20 years and was a member of Plainview First Baptist Church where she taught a women´s Bible study class for many years.
On May 17, 1928, she married
Aldred Best Buchanan in Silverton. He died April 4, 1959.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha Ruth Buchanan of Oklahoma City and Frances Sams of Plainview; a son, A.B. Buchanan; two sisters, Wilda Lightsey of Oklahoma City and Louise Vaughn of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Thelma Trent
CHILDRESS - Funeral services for Thelma F. Trent, 86, of Lubbock, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Norman Rushing, pastor of First Baptist Church in Childress, officiating.
Burial will be in Carey cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Trent died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, in Lubbock.
She was born Feb. 14, 1913, in Greenville. She was a homemaker and had taught a Sunday school class at Pine First Baptist Church in Huntington and was a volunteer for the Democratic election returns.
Her husband, Elmer Trent, died Jan. 25, 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Jan Dickson of Lubbock; a son, Kenneth Trent of Paducah; four sisters, Cecil Robinson of Kress, Earnestine Sitton of Lubbock, Jo Dell Stallings of Claremore and Glenna Williams of Petersburg; a grandson; and a great-grandchild.
Harland Downs
LITTLEFIELD - Graveside services for Harland Downs, 77, of Abernathy, will be at 2 p.m. today in Littlefield Memorial Park with the Rev. Mike Wilcox officiating.
Burial arrangements are by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.
Mr. Downs died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born March 5, 1922, in Sentinel, Okla. She served with the U.S. Army during World War II and moved to Abernathy from Dimmitt in 1957.
He was a member of the American Legion.
On Oct. 5, 1944, he married
Glenna Smith in Clovis.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Harland S. “Sandy” Downs Jr. of Allen and Randy Lee Downs and Danny Glen Downs, both of Abernathy; and four grandchildren.

G.B. Shelburne Jr.
AMARILLO - Funeral services for G.B. Shelburne Jr., 86, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of College of Biblical Studies at Abilene Christian University with Lyndon Latham, associate minister of Anna Street Church of Christ in Amarillo, and Elmore Johnson, minister of Quaker Avenue Church of Christ in Lubbock, officiating.
Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Paint Creek cemetery south of Robert Lee with Tommy Williams, minister of the Northside Church of Christ in Robert Lee, officiating. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home of Robert Lee.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Clearlake Church of Christ with Larry Branurn, minister of the Pleasant St. Church of Christ in Springdale, Ark., and Jerry Reeves, minister of the New Beginnings Church in Clearlake officiating.
Mr. Shelburne died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, in Pasadena.
He was born Jan. 15, 1913, in Runnels County. He graduated from high school in Stanton and was valedictorian of his 1935 class at Abilene Christian University. While attending ACU, he edited the campus newsletter, led a debate team and broadcast sports for a radio station and began an almost 70-year career as a minister.
Mr. Shelburne helped start congregations of the Church of Christ in San Angelo and Corpus Christi and served as minister to three Abilene congregations.
On June 15, 1934, he married
Wilma Jean Key at Robert Lee. She died in 1992. He married
Gwendolene Peacock on May 30, 1993.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Ruth Ann Reamer of Houston; four sons, B. Shelburne of Houston, Gene Shelburne and Jim Shelburne, both of Amarillo, Curtis Shelburne of Muleshoe; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the South Houston Bible Institute or to favorite charities.
W.R. Bean
BROWNFIELD - Funeral services for W.R. Bean, 85, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Shady Oaks Church of God with the Rev. L. Edward Prince officiating.
Burial will be in Rochester cemetery in Rochester by Brownfield Funeral Home.
Mr. Bean died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000 in Brownfield.
He was born Aug. 4, 1914, in Rochester. He moved to Plainview in 1957, to Olton in 1958 and to Plains in 1968.
He was a farmer, a Mason and a member of First Baptist Church.
On July 10, 1934, he married
Maurine White in Rochester. She died April 3, 1996.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Bean of Brownfield; three grandsons; six great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Sybil Glaze
Funeral services for Sybil Glaze, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Neil Unwin, pastor of First Assembly of God Church, officiating.
Burial will be at 5 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
Mrs. Glaze died at 4 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, in Covenant Hospital.
She was born Jan. 10, 1919, in Stamford. She was a retired Licensed Vocational Nurse and had managed nursing homes in Lamesa, Brownfield, Lockney and Tulia.
She was a member of First Assembly of God Church.
On April 10, 1939, she married
Robert Kropp. He died Sept. 22, 1950. On Sept. 13, 1969, she married
David Glaze. He died Nov. 22, 1982.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Hanson of Midland; two sons, Robert Kropp of Carrollton and James Kropp of Oxnard, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Assembly of God Church, 1300 N I-27, Plainview, TX 79072, or to the Roaring Springs Youth Camp.
