Graveside services for Jesse Thomas Jeremy Rivas Jr. III, one-day-old son of Melissa Jimenez and Jesse Rivas Jr., were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, in Plainview Memorial Park Babyland with the Rev. Gerard Kenney, pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, officiating.
Burial arrangements were by Lemons Funeral Home.
The infant was born Jan. 2, 2000. He died Jan. 3, 2000, in UMC in Lubbock.
Survivors include his parents; his grandparents, Gloria and Jesse Rivas Sr., Tommy Jimenez and Dalia Olivera, all of Plainview, and great-grandparents, Emelio and Carmen Jimenez, Alida Estrada and Emelio Estrada, all of Plainview, and Chon and Juana Ybarra of Pecos.
Pallbearers were Cruz Vasquez and Felix Sifuentes.

Reta Samples
AMARILLO - Funeral services for Reta Samples, 96, were at 10 a.m. today in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Dickerson, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in Llano cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Samples died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000.
She was born in Celeste and had lived in Amarillo for 68 years. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church and the Joy Club.
In 1929, she married
Charles H. Samples in Lockney. He is deceased.
Survivors include two sons, Charles L. Samples of Bowie and Ted R. Samples of Lockney; a daughter, Jody Wise of Carrollton; a sister, Maurine Cathey of Stonewall; 11 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Bea Cearley
HALE CENTER - Funeral services for Bea Cearley, 92, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Rowland, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Cearley died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in Hi-Plains Hospital in Hale Center.
She was born Sept. 8, 1907 in Drasco and married
Carl Cearley on Aug. 14, 1929 in Wilmeth. He died Jan. 5, 1976. She moved to Hale Center from Winters in 1941 and was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Home Builders Sunday School Class. She had assisted her husband in farming.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Bill and Carlene Kirby of Plainview; a sister, Lillian England of Hale Center; two grandsons, Chip Kirby and his wife Cindy and Aaron Kirby and his wife Denice, all of Cotton Center; and four great-grandchildren, Courtney Kirby, Chance Kirby, Sarah Kirby and Kyle Kirby, all of Cotton Center.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

Angus Davis
OLTON - Graveside services for Angus Davis, 82, were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Olton cemetery with Rick Harper, minister of Main Street Church of Christ, officiating.

Mr. Davis died at 7:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, in Covenant Hospital Plainview.
He was born Nov. 7, 1917, in Spencer, Tenn. He moved to Olton in 1953 from Quanah. He was a parts man for International Harvest Corporation.
He was a member of Main Street Church of Christ and the Littlefield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.
On May 8, 1947 he married
Bernice Dickey in Vernon.
Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Mollie Lewis of Quanah.

Leopoldo ´Polo´ Juarez

Mr. Juarez died at 7:41 p.m. Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, in Covenant Hospital Plainview.
He was born Aug. 11, 1931 in Pearsall and moved to Plainview in 1956. He was a farm laborer and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He married
Maria Avila Juarez on Aug. 3, 1949 in Robstown. She died Aug. 2, 1992.
Surviving are a daughter, Clementina Rodriquez of Dallas; two sons, Antonio Juarez of Deming, N.M. and Alvaro Juarez of Dallas; a brother, Alturo Juarez of Robstown; three sisters, Bertha Salazar of Robstown and Josefina Pina and Olga Lopez, both of Corpus Christi; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Winnie Pearson
PETERSBURG - Funeral services for Winnie Pearson, 77, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Lowrey, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Petersburg cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.
Mrs. Pearson died the Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, in her home.
She was born July 27, 1922 in the Whitfield community in Swisher County and graduated from Plainview High School in 1938. She attended nursing school at the Plainview hospital in 1939. She married
Lester Pearson on Oct. 12, 1940. He died Sept. 17. 1978.
She lived in Kress and Plainview before moving to Petersburg in 1957. She was a secretary and bookkeeper at Allmon Cotton and Grain, which she and her husband co-owned and operated.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Gene Stinnett of San Antonio and Diana and Lynn Culp of Petersburg; a brother, Winfred Blackerby of Kress; a sister, Madelyn Hiles of Plainview; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A son, Bob Pearson, died Dec. 15, 1991.
Pallbearers will be Gary Stinnett, Jason Culp, Sam Pearson, Max Pearson, Rusty Gray and David Zint.
The family suggests memorials to the Bob Pearson Scholarship Fund.

Irene Schreier

Mrs. Schreier died Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, in Running Water Draw Care Center in Olton.
She was born April 28, 1909 in Lone Wolf, Okla. and married
W.K. “Bill” Schreier on July 12, 1934 in Plainview. He died July 5, 1998.
She was raised in Olton and graduated from Olton High School. She moved to Abernathy from Seagraves in 1942 and moved to Running Water Draw Care Center in Olton from Abernathy in November of 1994.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Quilting Club and Garden Club. She had served as president of the Abernathy PTA.
Surviving are two daughters, Joyce Dye of Canyon and Linda Ligon of Bryan; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
