Cecil McKay
Graveside services for Cecil McKay, 85, of Plainview, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Silverton cemetery.
Burial arrangements are by Myers-Long Funeral Directors of Quitaque.
Mr. McKay died Thursday, May 11, 2000, in Lubbock.
He was born April 22, 1915, in Detroit, Texas. He had worked as an auto salesman in Bakersfield, Calif., for more than 40 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Turkey and was active in the Hale County Senior Citizens Center in Plainview.
On June 24, 1942, he married
Edna Grimland in Tulia.
Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Ruby Folley of Wellington, Colo.
Three sisters, Mollie Chambers, Ada Smith and Addie Phillips, and three brothers, Lon McKay, David Lee McKay and Delbert McKay, are deceased.

Hester W. Moore
FLOYDADA - Funeral services for Hester West Moore, 92, of Hereford, were at 10 a.m. today in Moore-Rose-White Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Wendell Horn, pastor of First United Methodist, officiating.
Burial was in Floyd County Memorial Park.
Mrs. Moore died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in Westgate Nursing Center in Hereford.
She was born Feb. 13, 1908, in Floyd County, the daughter of the late John L. and Marcella McCarty West. She attended schools in Floydada and graduated from Floydada High School. She graduated from the Baylor University School of Nursing and received a bachelor´s degree from Scarritt College in Nashville, Tenn.
She was a missionary nurse and had taught in mission hospitals in China for about three years before she traveled to the Philippines. She was working in Manila when it fell in 1942 and spent time in an internment camp until she was rescued in 1945.
She was named “Nurse of the Year” by the South Plains Chapter of Texas Graduate Nurses Assn., in 1960 and was a recipient of the Texas Panhandle Distinguished Service Awards for Women presented by West Texas State University.
She had been a longtime resident of Floydada and had served as president of the 1929 Study Club, was a member of the women´s division of the Floydada Chamber of Commerce, Homemaker Home Demonstration Club and First United Methodist Church.
On March 4, 1953, she married
W.I. Moore in Abilene. He died Feb. 15, 1990.
From 1956 to 1973 she and her husband were foster parents to 24 multi-racial children.
Survivors include a sister, Ione Matthews of Rosewood, Calif.; three nephews and three nieces, including Dale West of Pampa, Ann Bean of Lubbock and Johnny West of Floydada.
A brother, John Key West, died in 1995 and a sister, Vaughn Murff, died in 1991.
The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 719, Floydada, TX 79235; or to any children´s organization.

Guadalupe Rocha
SMYER - Funeral Mass for Guadalupe Rocha, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Teresa´s Catholic Church in Carlisle with the Rev. Aidan Maguire officiating.
Burial will be in Smyer cemetery by Head Family Funeral Home in Levelland.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today funeral home chapel.
Mrs. Rocha died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, in Slaton.
She was born Nov. 9, 1916, in Silao Guanajuato, Mexico. She moved to Texas in 1932 and to Smyer from Martindale in 1955. She was a homemaker and a Catholic.
On Feb. 22, 1932, she married
Miguel Rocha in Mexico.
Survivors include four sons, Manuel Rocha of Petersburg, Salvador, Eliseo and Juan Rocha, all of Smyer; two daughters, Consuelo Gutierrez of San Antonio and San Juana of Smyer; 25 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Ms. Smith died Thursday, May 11, 2000, in Covenant Lakeside Medical Center in Lubbock.
She was born April 24, 1961, in Lubbock. She graduated from Abernathy High School in 1979 and moved to Dallas in 1993 from Lubbock. She was a member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents, Jim Bob and Roifae Smith of Lubbock; two brothers, Kevin Lee Smith of Midlothian and Robert Roy Smith of Lubbock; and her grandmother, Vera Miller of Abernathy.

Velma Clark

Robert E. “Bob” Clark on Aug. 26, 1953. She was a bookkeeper for several Lubbock businesses and was a member of the Bacon Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Mike of Vancouver, Wash.; two daughters, Brenda Turner of Plainview and Cheryl Graham of Dallas; a brother, Curtis Smith of Hurst; four sisters, Juanita Overstreet of Tecumseh, Okla., Bea Miles of Arlington, Dorothy Betts of Mesquite and Catherine Crane of Tupelo, Miss.; and three grandchildren.

Anita Cox

Vernon Cox on June 29, 1957, in Stanton. She attended school in Grady and graduated from Stanton High School. She worked for Farm Service Agency for 20 years and was a member of the Downtown Church of Christ.
A daughter, Vickie Ann Klein, died July 18, 1997.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Vernon Jr. and Billy Don, both of Stanton; eight sisters, Aline Couch of Abilene, Reba Walker of Plainview, Minnie Garnel of Midland, Betty Curry of Kerrville, Ollie Curry of Junction, Neoma Mitchell of Centerville, Mo., Thelma Overby of Belton and Joyce Hanson of Lamesa; and 11 grandchildren.

Rose Ellen Gregg

Mrs. Gregg died Jan. 21, 2000, in Dallas.
She was born Rose Ellen Copeland, the daughter of the late Melvin W. and Beulah Copeland, on Sept. 14, 1911, in Pickton. She had worked as a nurse for more than 40 years in Plainview. She was a member of Rylie Road Church of Christ.
In 1930 she married
Noah Couch. He died in 1961 in Plainview. In 1965 she married
Lowell Gregg in Tulia.
Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Leavern Grubbs of Dallas, Hazel Everett of Lodi, Calif., Shirley Wedgeworth of Hobbs, N.M., Opal Robinson of Fayetteville, Ark., and Nancy Couch of West Fork, Ark.; three sons, Ira Dale Peoples of Henryetta, Okla., Charles Couch of Irving and Jack Couch of Berwick; one brother, Woodrow Copeland of Dallas; two sisters, Annie Pearl Burnett of Quinlan and Lillian Smith of Loco Hills, N.M.; and 24 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Three siblings, Margie Parker and Opal Bishop, and Jody Copenald, are deceased.
