K.A. Stratton
FRITCH Funeral services for K.A. Stratton, 74, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors´ Ivy Chapel.
Burial will be in Llano cemetery.
Mr. Stratton died Friday, Feb. 6, 2004, in Amarillo.
He was born in Swisher County. He had been a control specialist in electric motor repair.
He was president and CEO of G.E. Jones Electric Co from 1976-98 and was a member of Southwestern Chapter and ESA president from 1972-73. He was a former member of REACT and was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church.
On Sept. 16, 1949, he married
Norma Vivian Jones in Amarillo.
Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Linda Stratton of Amarillo; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Sam Wands of Amarillo and Lori and Bobby Sizemore of Springfield, Mo.; a sister and brother-in-law, Genevia and Eddy Dunn of Amarillo; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Cleta Stratton of Tulia; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.

Ramona G. Betancur
ABERNATHY Funeral Mass for Ramona G. Betancur, 77, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Isidore Catholic Church with the Rev. Arnold Bravo, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Abernathy cemetery by Abell Funeral Home.
Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the same church.
Mrs. Betancur died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 1, 1925, in Cuba, N.M. She moved to Abernathy in 1947.
She was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, the Altar Society and Crusillistas.
In 1948, she married
Magadelano Q. Betancur in Lubbock. He died Oct. 29, 2002.
Survivors include two sons, Arturo Betancur of Lubbock and Johnny Gonzales of Arlington; a daughter, Candy Vasquez of Abernathy; a brother, Filimon Gonzales of Rio Rancho, N.M.; three sisters, Adelina Padilla of Gallup, N.M., Martina Chavez of Bernalillo, N.M., and Pabla Gonzales of Albuquerque, N.M.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Gregory Raissez

Mr. Raissez died at 7:45 a.m. Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, in Covenant Medical Center Lubbock.
He was born June 23, 1952, in Boise City, Okla. He was a lifelong resident of Lockney and a member of San Jose Catholic Church.
On April 15, 1972, he married
Alexandria Muniz in Lockney.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Amanda Raissez and Ashley Raissez, both of Lockney; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Angie Raissez of Plainview, Matthew and Samantha Raissez of Lubbock and Joshua Raissez of Lockney; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Isabel and Mary Ann Raissez of Rotan and Alfonso and Nieves Raissez of Lockney; six sisters and three brothers-in-law, Belen Hernandez of Casa Grande, Ariz., Hortence and Reynaldo Moralez of Edinburg, Monia Elona and Robert DeLaGarza of Dallas, Rosaira Saenz of Floydada, Ester and Frank Muniz of Lockney and Felipa Raissez of Plainview; and two grandchildren.
One brother and one sister are deceased.

Pearl Schreier
OLTON Funeral services for Pearl Schreier, 101, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyle Streun, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Schreier died at 1:37 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, in Runningwater Draw Care Center.
She was born April 9, 1902, in Dixie, Okla., the daughter of Thomas Thadeous and Emma Rosa Lee Burgess Payne. After her mother´s death, she lived with relatives. She attended school in Wellington and graduated in 1921. She attended Southwestern State Teachers College in Weatherford, Okla., and taught grades one through four at Pleasant Hill, then fourth grade at Welliington. After moving to Olton in 1925, she taught first and second grade.
On June 19, 1927, she married
Walter Schreier. He died Dec. 31, 1960.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Wellington where she was involved with teaching Vacation Bible School, junior department, adult women´s class, worked in the church library for more than 20 years and served on many committees and ministries.
She was a member, officer and state delegate of the Sandhills Home Demonstration Club, a charter member and officer of Olton Garden Club, president of Olton Council of Women´s Clubs, Women´s Auxiliary of VFW and activities at the American Legion, a volunteer at Runningwater Draw Care Center and helped organize the rock clubs in Plainview and Lubbock. She and her husband spent their retirement years as a “rock hounds” hunting rocks.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosalyn Sorley of Olton.
The family suggests memorials to Runningwater Draw Care Center or to the Olton Volunteer Ambulance Association.

Kierra Ron´a Taylor

Miss Taylor died Sunday, Feb. 15, 2004, at Northwest Texas Healthcare System in Amarillo.
She was born Dec. 2, 1989, in Dallas. She was a student at Estacado Junior High and a member of United Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents, Kim Taylor of Dallas and Donna Taylor of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Kimberly Nails of Plainview and Kristen Taylor of Denver, Colo.; her grandparents, Betty and Charles Nails of Plainview, Mrs. Jeri Shaw and Willie G. Taylor Jr., both of Dallas; and an aunt, Peggy Coleman of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Lester James
Funeral services for longtime community leader, former city councilman and former Wayland trustee Lester W. James Sr., 94, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mr. James died at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997, in Prairie House Living Center.
He was born Sept. 25, 1903, in Stratford. He grew up in Plainview and graduated from Plainview High School in 1921 and from Wayland Junior College. He attended Rice University and graduated from Baylor University in 1925 with a bachelor of business administration degree.
Mr. James started to work at the Guaranty State Bank in 1925 and on Jan. 1, 1934, organized the Home Building & Loan Association (after 1951 it became Plainview Savings & Loan Association), after the banks in Plainview had failed during the Depression. He operated the Savings and Loan until retiring in July of 1982. For several years afterward he was involved in investments.
He was a member of First Baptist Church where he had served as secretary of his Sunday school class for 39 years.
He served as a trustee for Wayland Baptist University for nine years and provided endowed scholarships and a professorship at Wayland and also provided scholarships at Baylor.
Two years ago, he and his son, Bobby, provided the signs at the Quincy Street entrance to Wayland.
He was a member of the Plainview Rotary Club since 1932, serving two terms as president and received the first Paul Harris Fellow presented to the Plainview club.
He was elected to the Plainview City Council in 1945, served as director of the Plainview Chamber of Commerce, and was a director of the Texas Savings & Loan Association.
On March 21, 1925, he married
Laura Clark in Waco. She died Dec. 8, 1984.
Survivors include one son, Lester W. “Bobby” James and his wife, Ruth of Plainview; four grandchildren, Katie Wellman and Wade James, both of Plainview, and Robert and David James, both of Coleman; and three great-grandchildren, Alyese Lee Anthony, Ellyn Ruth Anthony and James Foster Anthony, all of Plainview.
A son, Allen James, died Aug. 7, 1988.
