Devon Luke Searsy
Let it be known, Devon Luke Searsy loved Jesus and Jesus loved Devon. Devon Luke Searsy was born on July 24, 1998, and died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004. Many lives are lived as merely a footnote in the great book of life; Devon lived a complete chapter in his short 6 years.
Just look into his baby blue eyes, a touch of his curling blonde hair and glance at his always optimistic smile, you could see that life was his passion as he was always the first to rise and the last to bed. From sports to roller coasters, he would try them all. The only things that were ever in his way were the opinions others had of what he couldnīt do.
In the past year Devon realized a great talent in gymnastics; today he is Godīs gold medalist. Devon loved everyone, especially his mommy and his daddy, and he will be missed.
Devon was preceded in death by a great-grandfather, Hollis Borland of Ropesville, and great-grandparents, Johnie and Bonnie Chilton.
Devon is survived by his mother, Lynette Borland Searsy of Ropesville and friend, Shawn Reeves of Lubbock; father, Josh and Misty Searsy of Lubbock; grandparents, Larry and Louella Borland, Larry and Pete Searsy and Renee and Ronnie Brown, all of Lubbock; great-grandparents, Dorothy Borland of Ropesville, Bob and Billie Morton of El Paso, James Means of Ropesville, Gene and Maxine Searsy of Kress and Florene Coldeway of Highland Haven; aunts and uncles, Lisa and Jesse Lee of South Riding, Va., Lori and Jay Richardson of Ropesville and Jeremy and Kaci Searsy of Plainview; as well as four cousins that loved him dearly, Caleb, Skyler and Bethany Richardson and Jonathan Lee.
The family would like to thank the hundreds of people that have shown Godīs love during these trying times.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, Sept., 26, 2004, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home of Lubbock.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at South Plains Church of Christ, 6802 Elkhart, Lubbock. Burial will follow in Ropesville cemetery.
