Bennie Ray Hood
BAY CITY -- Funeral services for Bennie Ray Hood, 64, former Plainview resident, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Bay City with the Rev. Michael Zimmerman officiating.
Burial will be in Cedarvale cemetery in Bay City by Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
Mr. Hood died Tuesday, April 26, 2005, in Houston.
He was born March 5, 1941, in Plainview, the son of Homer Lawerence and Alma Jane Walker Hood. He had lived in Bay City since 1999 and was a retired carpenter from Phillips 66 in Old Ocean.
Survivors include his wife, Eloise Hood; two sons and daughters-in-law, Shawn and Paula Hood and Brandon and Shelby Hood, all of Bay City; and two grandchildren.
His parents, a sister, Bobbie Jo Morrison, and a brother, Dewey Clydean Hood, are deceased.

Mollie Gertrude Miller
Funeral services for Mollie Gertrude Miller, 95, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Lemons Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joe Weldon, retired Baptist minister, officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Miller died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, in St. Annīs Nursing Home in Panhandle.
She was born Mollie Gertrude Carr on Dec. 7, 1909, in Lindsey, Okla., and married
J.E. Miller on Feb. 1, 1928, in Purcell, Okla. They moved to Plainview in 1931 and she worked for the Plainview school district food service from 1954-74 when she retired. Her husband died May 28, 1961, and she moved to Amarillo in 2001 to make her home with a daughter.
She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Barr of Amarillo and Wanda Martin of Fort Wayne, Ind.; a brother, John Monroe Carr of Amarillo; two sisters, Ada Masterson of Dell City, Okla., and Martha Pybas of Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Ada McBeth; a granddaughter, Janis Ford; and a great-grandson, Vance Ford, are deceased.
The family suggests memorials to Parkview Baptist Church, 405 S. Broadway, Plainview, TX 79072.

Bobby Vallin
Funeral Mass for Bobby Vallin, 61, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Reynaldo Reyes, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Vallin died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, in Covenant Medical Center.
He was born May 27, 1943, in San Antonio.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy Norton of Plainview; two daughters, Diana Vallin of Fort Sam Houston and Tina Vallin of Plainview; one son, Alex Vallin of Denver, Colo.; three sisters, Nina Farias and Gloria Hernandez, both of Plainview, and Diana Castillo of San Antonio; four stepchildren, Cheryl Robles of Phoenix, Ariz., Pam Morris of Pampa, Glen Norton of Seattle, Wash., and Marlin Norton of Utah; and 15 grandchildren.
Two brothers, Juan and Jose Vallin, are deceased.
Lola Mildred Willard
Funeral services for Lola Mildred Willard, 86, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kress First Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Vernon, pastor of First Baptist Church in Levelland, officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Willard died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, in Prairie Acres Nursing Home in Friona.
She was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Plainview. She enjoyed quilting and selling arts and crafts. She was a member of the Kress Crochet Club and Kress First Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Jone Sanders of Saverna Park, Md.; two sons, Jess Willard of Dalhart and Dee Willard of Friona; two sisters, Margaret Kay of Edmonson and Elizabeth Dixon of Plainview; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
A brother, Henry Gaines, is deceased.
Joe Harrell
OLTON -- Funeral services for Joe Harrell, 68, are pending with Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home.
Mr. Harrell died at 11:55 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2005, in Runningwater Draw Care Center.
Dr. Vance Clapp
Memorial services for Dr. Vance Clapp, 90, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating.
His body has been donated to the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center.
Lemons Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
Dr. Clapp died late Saturday, April 23, 2005, in Santa Fe House where he had been a resident since 1998.
He was a deacon at First Baptist Church.
He was born Jan. 13, 1915, in Hitchita, Okla. He graduated from Colorado Springs High School in 1932 and attended Anadarko Business College where he studied accounting and business. He worked as a shipping and accounting supervisor for Baker Hanna & Blake Colo., in Oklahoma City and later was with Swift and Company Dairy and Poultry Plant in Oklahoma City as a cost accountant.
He served with the U.S. Navy from 1942-46, supervising payroll operations.
He worked for the Examiner-Inspector for the Santa Barbara Defense-Rental Area from 1946-48 and then became a student at the University of Denver from 1948-53 and received three degrees -- a bachelor of science, master of science and doctor of education.
He was a teacher-counselor at Central High School in Pueblo, Colo., until 1955 and was assistant professor of business administration at Oregon State University until 1959.
From 1959-80, he was with Wayland Baptist University where he was a business teacher and was in administrative positions that included head of Department of Business Administration; director of Special Services; and dean of the Hawaii campus. He retired with the rank of professor emeritus of business administration in 1980. He served as dean of South Plains College in Plainview from 1980-82.
He and his wife, Bertha, were married
Dec. 24, 1938, in Oklahoma City. She died Oct. 31, 1996.
Survivors include a sister, Juanita King of Miami, Okla.; a brother and sister-in-law, William Donald and Julie Clapp of St. Louis, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
Five siblings, Fern Segal, Hazel Baker, Clark Clapp, Lorraine Neville and Gladys Clapp, are deceased.
Memorials are suggested to the Vance and Bertha Clapp Memorial Fund at Wayland Baptist University.

Wilma Florence Courtney
Funeral services for Wilma Florence Courtney, 89, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church Chapel with Dr. Lewis Holland, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.
Ms. Courtney died at 3 p.m. Monday, April 25, 2005, in Covenant Hospital Lubbock.
She was born Sept. 17, 1915, in Aldrich, Mo., the daughter of Moyland Ed and Bessie Wollard Courtney. She moved with her parents to the Bellview community southeast of Plainview in 1919. She attended Bellview school and was graduated from Plainview High School and attended Lippertīs Business College.
Ms. Courtney was a member of the Plainview Business and Professional Womenīs Club and served as president in 1957. She was pianist for the Red Hots musical group. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Harmony Sunday School Class and Iva Wheeler Circle.
Ms. Courtney was secretary for the Dan MacNaughton Insurance Agency and later served as deputy in the Hale County Clerkīs office, retiring in 1994.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Thomas Lee and Jean Snelling Courtney of Allen; her sister-in-law, Carolyn Courtney of Plainview; nephew Charles Courtney and his wife, Tonya, of Edmonson; her nieces, Vanessa Courtney Bingham and husband, Bob of Arlington and Constance Courtney Westfall and husband Monte of Southlake; and great-nieces and nephews, Jacob and Travis Courtney; Christopher, Courtney and Allison Bingham; and William and John Westfall.
Her parents, and a brother, Moyland Henry Courtney, are deceased.
