Dr. H. Strauss Atkinson
AMARILLO -- Funeral services for Dr. H. Strauss Atkinson, 88, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Batson, pastor; the Rev. Dale Cain, pastor of First Baptist Church in Sundown; the Rev. Charles Davenport, pastor of First Baptist Church in Tulia; and Dr. Chester O´Brien, a Baptist minister, officiating.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Littlefield cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon and Happy.
The body will be at Brooks Funeral Home in Canyon from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. today.
Dr. Atkinson died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, in Amarillo.
He was born March 6, 1917, in Florence, Texas. He was born into the family of God by salvation through faith in Jesus Christ on Aug. 15, 1925, and was ordained in the ministry on Nov. 24, 1950, by First Baptist Church in Littlefield.
He attended Hardin-Simmons University, West Texas A&M; University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He received an honorary doctorate of divinity from Wayland Baptist University.
He pastored Texas churches in Moran, Kermit and Canyon and was interim pastor of many area churches. He served as director of missions for the Caprock-Plains Area in Plainview from 1970-83 and was honored with the Outstanding Missionary Leader Award by the Associational Missions Division of the Home Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
He preached in cities throughout the United States and many foreign countries. He served on numerous committees and boards of the Southern Baptist Convention and was a field representative for Baylor University. He presided at baccalaureate services at both Wayland Baptist University and Hardin-Simmons University. He actively served in the Ambassador Service for Amarillo Area Baptist Association as a mentor through December 2004.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie of Amarillo; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Dale Cain of Sundown; five sisters, Sybil Faught of Austin, Mary Pearl Roberts of Baytown, Elizabeth Sawyer of Florence, Billie Fern Goertz of Harrisburg, Ark., and Jacquita White of Fort Worth; two grandchildren, Lt. Comdr. David Ward and wife, Elke, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Pennee Shmitt and husband, Michael, of Houston; and four great-grandchildren.
His first wife, Trudy; a daughter, Mayla Ward; and a granddaughter, Tracie Densford, are deceased.
The family suggests memorials to First Baptist Church, 1208 S. Tyler, Amarillo, TX 79101, or Baptist St. Anthony´s Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176.

Micaela Gonzalez
PETERSBURG -- Funeral services for Micaela Gonzalez, 72, will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Petersburg with the Rev. Rene Perez officiating.
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in the church in Petersburg.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart cemetery in Rosebud. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview.
Mrs. Gonzalez died early this morning, May 13, 2005, in Lubbock.
She was born Jan. 20, 1933, in Rosebud, the daughter of Felix and Prima Tijerina. She married
Paul Gonzalez on Oct. 1, 1950, in Temple.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mary Helen Latimer of Bellville, Rosemary Salazar of Lubbock and Irene Wheat of Austin; one brother, Joe Tijerina of Rosebud; two sisters, Lucia Velasquez of Rosebud, Faye Sanchez of Rosebud; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Two brothers, Reyes and Charlie Tijerina are deceased.

Wayne O. Perkins
Funeral services for Wayne Overton Perkins, 64, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Bartley Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Shane Brooks, pastor or Freedom Fellowship Church in Lubbock, officiating.
Burial will be in Petersburg cemetery by Bartley Funeral Home.
Mr. Perkins died Friday, May 6, 2005, in Salinas, Calif.
He was born Jan. 18, 1941, in Louisa County, Va.
He moved to Plainview in 1989 from King George, Va. He was a past Mason in Virginia and was a truck driver.
Survivors include his fianceŽ, Sue Mulkey of Plainview; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Lonnie Wayne Perkins of Plainview and Dalton and Mindy Perkins of Charlotte, Va.; a daughter, Wanda Thompson of Spotsylvania, Va.; four brothers, Dalton Perkins of Charlottesville, Va., Calvin Perkins and Donald Perkins, both of Louisa, Va., and Allen Perkins of Richmond, Va; 19 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Jose Luz Ramirez
Funeral services for Jose Luz Ramirez, 95, were held Saturday in Col. Esperanza, Mexico with burial in the local cemetery.
Mr. Ramirez died May 6, 2005, in Alcala, Texas.
He was born May 10, 1909, in Santa Eulalia, Mexico. He married
Maria Dominguez in 1938. She died in 1960.
He was a farmer in Edmonson and in South Plains. He was a devoted father and grandfather.
Survivors include five daughters, Angela Ladin of Col. Esperanza, Dionicia Ramirez of Chihuahua, Mexico, Andrea Hernandez, Rosa Casino and Meredes Nunez, all of Plainview; two sons, Juan Ramirez of Killeen and Richard Ramirez of El Paso; 48 grandchildren; 102 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Three sons, Guadalupe and Robert Ramirez died in 1986 and Antonio Ramirez died in 1988.

Brian Walker
Funeral services for Brian Walker, 48, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Walker died Tuesday, May 10, 2005, in Covenant Hospital Plainview.
He was born May 14, 1956, in Plainview. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1974 and received a degree in agriculture education from Texas Tech in 1979.
He farmed most of his life and recently went to work for Karr Services in Plainview.
He loved to fly and golf and watch his daughter play basketball.
On Nov. 29, 1980, he married
Theresa Cowart in Plainview.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Landon Walker of Plainview; a daughter, Whitley Walker of Plainview; two brothers, Richard Walker of Conroe and Perry Walker of Plainview; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Eddie Huffhines of Hale Center; his mother, Marie Walker of Plainview; his mother-in-law, Juana Cowart of Plainview; two nephews, Jerod Walker of Dallas and Rhett Walker of Lubbock; three nieces, Heidi Inglet of Houston, Heather Gruhlkey of Kress and Holly Hingst of Plainview.
His father, Preston Walker, died Oct. 12, 1993.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Floyd E. Chaney Jr.
Memorial services for Floyd Everett Chaney Jr., 82, were at 10 a.m. today in Bartley Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tim Harper, chaplain of VistaCare Hospice, officiating.
Mr. Chaney died Saturday, May 21, 2005, at Prairie House Living Center.
He was born Oct. 25, 1922, in Muleshoe. He had lived in Plainview since his birth. He farmed in Edmonson and also worked for Noel Industries, Green Machinery and Brown & Root Construction.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II, a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled Veterans.
Survivors include two sons, Kenon Earl Chaney of Bedford and Bradford Eugene Chaney of El Paso; a daughter, Ennice Ann Glidwell of Mansville, Okla.; a brother, Horace Chaney of Mansfield; and two sisters, Faye Jett and Shirley Pomykal, both of Plainview.
