HART -- Graveside services for James Robert “J.B.” Cates, 38, of Wildorado, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hart cemetery with Dr. Ron Miller, pastor of Palo Duro Baptist Church in Wildorado, officiating.
Burial arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
Mr. Cates was a former Hart, Plainview and Floydada resident and served in the U.S. Army.
Among his survivors are two daughters, Randi Lee Cates and Lindsey Paige Cates, both of Cotton Center.

Benancia Velasquez
LOCKNEY -- Funeral Mass for Benancia “Nachita” Martinez Velasquez, 94, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in San Jose Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim McCartney, pastor, officiating.

Lillian Bailey
Graveside services for Lillian Bailey, 81, were at 2 p.m. today in Parklawn Memorial Gardens with Dennis Hartley, minister of Dare to Believe Ministry Outreach, officiating.
Arrangements were by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bailey died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005, in Covenant Hospital.
She was born April 4, 1924, in Clovis, N.M., the daughter of Mary Green and Joseph Benjamin Whitener. She moved to Plainview in 1979 and had worked as a residential painter.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and Seth Ward Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosie Ann Heyen of Washington state; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, Durwood Bailey, died in 1987 and a son, Rocky Dean Purpner, died in 1998. Two brothers and three sisters also are deceased.
The family suggests memorials to the American Legion Auxiliary, 111 Ash St., Plainview, TX 79072.

Pete McLaughlin
Pete McLaughlin, 99, passed from this life into heaven on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.
A memorial service to honor his life was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Temple with Dr. Thomas Allen officiating. Interment service was at Bellwood Memorial Park.
Mr. McLaughlin was born in Plainview, Texas, the son of Samuel R. and Martha Waddill McLaughlin. He married
the love of his life, Nela White, on Aug. 25, 1930, in Plainview. Last month the couple was pictured on NBC´s Today Show after celebrating 75 years of marriage.
Mr. McLaughlin was a farmer in Hale County for more than 50 years before moving to Temple in 1978. He was manager of Northwest Hills Mini Storage Warehouse until 1986, then managed a car wash until 1996. He was a member of the Petersburg School Board in the late 1940s. In addition, he belonged to the Plainview Masonic Lodge and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Plainview and Temple. While living in Temple he volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
A son, Jim McLaughlin, preceded his father in death. Survivors include his wife, Nela, of Calvert, a son, Dr. Bill McLaughlin of Walcot, and daughters Marzee Lee of Calvert and Kay Roberts of Temple.
Mr. McLaughlin was Grandpa to 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. His grandchildren are Lezlie Thompson of Abernathy, Wes McLaughlin of Slaton, Valorie Mahler of Olney, Jill Clough of Arlington and Wade McLaughlin of Amarillo. Also, Michael Lee of Calvert, Rebecca Nash of San Angelo, Lexie Mathison of Irving, and Dr. Elizabeth Roberts and John Roberts Jr. of Temple.

Josephine Holmes

Mrs. Holmes died at 5:22 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005, in Covenant Hospital.
She worked for Suzanne´s Hallmark Gift Shop and was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Holmes was born April 6, 1922, in Cedarville, N.M., to Carl M. and Mary Marsh Evans.
She married
Clinton Holmes on May 7, 1938, in Clovis, N.M.
Survivors include two daughters, Eva June Logan of Fort Worth and Barbara Faus of Odessa; one son, Freddie Holmes of Plainview; three sisters, Mary Jane Thurman of Jacksboro, Dorothy Morton of Edmonson and Athalee McKallip of Amarillo; five grandsons, Cary Logan of Hurst; Bill and Jerry Faus of Lubbock; Paul Butler of Portland, Ore.; and James Holmes of Plainview; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and three sisters, Ivydell Curtis, Oleta Hamblin and Jerry Yonaka.
