Jerald R. Martin
Funeral services for Jerald R. Martin, 79, were held at 10:30 a.m. today in First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating.
Burial was in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors.
Mr. Martin had been in failing health several years and passed away suddenly at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born March 19, 1926, in the Pecan Grove community near Gatesville. After graduation from Gatesville High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married
Clara V. Bannister on Oct. 16, 1948. The Martins moved to Plainview in 1952.
Mr. Martin was a well known masonry contractor in the South Plains area for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Plainview, American Legion and the Gideon Association.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Mike Harder of Plainview; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry D. and Lynn Rader Martin of Longview; five grandchildren, Amy and husband Brent McGavock and Jordan and wife Ashley Harder of Lubbock, Andy and wife Ashley Harder of Dallas, Emily Martin of Dallas and Laura Martin of Lubbock; and one great-grandchild, Caroline McGavock of Lubbock.
He was preceded in death by his father, Marteen Martin in 1956; his stepfather, W.H. Clark in 1991; and his mother, Monette Clark in 1999.
The family suggests memorials to Exodus Prison Ministry, in care of First Baptist Church, 205 W. Eighth, or the Senior Citizens Center of Plainview, 1107 Smyth, both in Plainview, TX 79072.

Ray Purcell
LUBBOCK -- Funeral services for Raybon “Ray” H. Purcell, 83, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Broadway Church of Christ with Bill Starcher and Harvie Pruitt officiating.
Military graveside services will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park by Sanders Funeral Home.
Mr. Purcell died Wednesday, June 29, 2005, in Lubbock.
He was born Nov. 18, 1921, in the Hood community near Gainesville in Cooke County. He attended Gainesville High School and graduated from the University of North Texas in Denton.
He moved from Plainview to Lubbock in 1982. He was the manager of the Plainview Social Security Office until his retirement in 1982. He later managed the Plainview-Hale County Airport until June 1986, and worked as a consultant for the airport until Jan. 1, 1995. The street leading to the Plainview Airport was named Purcell Drive in his honor in 1985.
He was a World War II Air Force veteran and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, five Air Medals, two Purple Hearts and the Presidential Citation. He flew 51 missions and was shot down twice.
He was a member of the Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow in Rotary International. He was a member of all Masonic bodies and was a 32nd-degree Mason. He had been honored with the Masonic Golden Trowel.
Mr. Purcell had been a member of the Plainview Chamber of Commerce and served on the board for eight years. He served as a director of the Plainview Rotary Club and South Plains Open Heart Club. He was a past president of the Central Plains Scottish Rite Association.
He married
Laura Peacock in 1982. He was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ where he and his wife were members of Classic Nine Bible Class.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Danny Allen of Dallas; a daughter, Patti Logue of El Reno, Okla.; two stepsons, Mike Peacock of Grapevine and Terry Peacock of Littleton, Colo.; a stepdaughter, Debbie Hickman of Lake Jackson; a sister, Mildred White of Borger; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
His parents, three brothers and two sisters are deceased.
Visitation will be from 6-8 tonight at Sanders Funeral Home.

Sharon Boatman
AUSTIN -- A Celebration of Life for Sharon Boatman, 65, daughter of Leoma Thompson and sister of Sonya Thompson of Plainview, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Metropolitan Community Church with the Rev. Louis deSpain, pastor, officiating.
The family will hold a private service to distribute her ashes.
She died June 18, 2005, in Austin.
Mrs. Boatman was born to Mr. and Mrs. Guy Thompson on Sept. 20, 1938, in Abernathy.

Charles I. Simpson

Lillie Clements
Funeral services for Lillie Bess Clements, 93, were held Wednesday in Pleasant Valley Methodist Church with the Rev. Sam Bailey of Twin Lakes Baptist Church of Mountain Home, Ark., the Revs. Gary Stevens of First Baptist Church of Morse, Wes Stevens of Fellowship Baptist Church of Perryton and Jim Watkins of Wesley United Methodist Church of Hereford officiated. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery with arrangements by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Amarillo.
Mrs. Clements died Oct. 21, 2012, in Amarillo.
She was born to Joe Walter and Sarah Kirby Bailey on Jan. 22, 1919, in Greenbrier, Ark. She married
Maynard Lewis Clements on Sept. 25, 1937, at Conway, Ark., and moved to Amarillo in 1947. Lillie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and cooking wonderful meals for family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Caralee Stevens and Mildred Sowell; and an infant granddaughter.
Survivors include a son, Gail Clements and, wife, Marsha of Canyon; two daughters, Sandra Travis of Amarillo and Carolyn Henderson of Hereford; six grandchildren, Glenn Travis, Kami Eades, Stacy Talent, Gary Boyett, Hali Jeter and Todd Boyett; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Ott Bailey of Yukon, Okla., and Joe Kirby Bailey of Mountain Home, Ark.; a sister, Alma Lois Emison of Vilonia, Ark.; and many nieces and nephews.
