Curtis W. Murphree
FRIONA Funeral services for Curtis W. Murphree, 82, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Stovall, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Friona cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home.
Mr. Murphree died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
He was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Zephyr, the son of William C. and Ethel Parson Murphree. He moved to Friona in 1941 from Comanche. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
He had served two terms as trustee at Wayland Baptist University, the last two as chairman.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
On Aug. 30, 1945, he married
Gertrude Short in Friona.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Kevin Wiseman of Friona; three sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Linda Murphree of Plainview, Joe and Audrey Murphree and Jim and Rhonda Murphree, both of Friona; two sisters, Lois Brooks of Carlsbad, N.M., and Bobbie Curtis of Lubbock; four brothers, Ray Murphree and Roger Murphree, both of Comanche, Billy Murphree of Monahans and Pat Murphree of Decatur; 14 grandchildren, including David Murphree of Canyon and Trent Murphree of Phoenix; and one great-grandchild.
The family suggests memorials to the Memorial Fund at First Baptist Church, 404 W. Fifth, Friona, TX 79035.

Justin Paul Rodgers
Justin Paul Rodgers, 38, passed away Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016. Memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at the funeral home.
Justin was born Oct. 1, 1978, to Richard and Patricia Rodgers in Plainview. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1997. He was active in the band, was state president of FTA and was an Eagle Scout. We will miss the twinkle in his eye and his smile that lit up the world. Justin never met a stranger and shared his big heart with many. He will be deeply missed, but know that he is saved by the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.
Justin is survived by his daughter, Dara Dawn Rodgers; parents, Richard and Patricia Rodgers of Plainview; grandmother, Oneta Rodgers of Plainview; two brothers, Joshua Rodgers and wife Tiffany of Kerrville and Jon Michael Rodgers and wife Jamie of Rockwall; and three nieces, Lauryn Rodgers, Alexis Rodgers and Stella Grace Rodgers.

Eddie Ray Morton
Eddie Ray Morton (Mr. Hubbard) went to meet his Lord and Savior on Dec. 13, 2016, with his family at his side. Mr. Morton danced through the pearly gates on his 80th birthday. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Max Browning officiating and Rev. Brad Snellgrove assisting. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
A visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Eddie Ray Morton was born in Hereford, Texas, on Dec. 13, 1936, to Virgil and Mayme Morton. He was the baby of nine children. Eddie attended schools in Hereford prior to meeting the love of his life Dorothy Kitchens. Eddie and Dorothy were married
Aug. 9, 1958.
Eddie Morton loved to farm and ranch. Eddie was a man of many trades and talents. He managed Midwest Grain. He owned the Ford Tractor Dealership in Plainview, Texas. In 1979, Eddie and wife, Dorothy Morton bought Hubbard's Pawn Shop where Eddie acquired the nickname Mr. Hubbard.
Mr. Morton loved the Lord with his whole heart. He loved to witness to others and share the love of Christ with everyone.
Eddie Morton had an unconditional love for his family. He adored his wife Dorothy of 59 years. Eddie was proud of his two boys, and gushed over his grands and greats. "Poppy" always had a stick of gum to share, an unforgettable hug to give, and would never let you leave without a good reminder of how much he loved you! He had a heart of gold.
Mr. Morton was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Dorothy, one brother: Jerry Morton of Plainview, Texas, two sons: Eddie and wife Teri of Hereford, Texas, and Ricky and wife Tana of Plainview, Texas, five grandchildren, Mindy Harmon and husband Jerry of Hereford, Texas, Ryan Morton of Hereford, Texas, Tanner, Ashlynn and Kateley Morton of Plainview, Texas, and three great-grandchildren, Zack, Slayde and Kamryn Harmon, all of Hereford, Texas.
Raymond Shannon
TULIA -- Raymond Aaron Shannon, 99, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, 2016, in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church, Tulia. Burial will follow in Rose Hill cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
A visitation will be held 6-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016, at the funeral home in Tulia.
Raymond was born on April 13, 1917, to Linnie and William Floyd Shannon in Vega, Texas. They were traveling in a covered wagon from New Mexico to Clarendon. He was a boy full of adventure and had several near-death experiences as a child and young adult. Raymond loved talking about all those childhood memories as he grew up on a farm with two sisters and six brothers.
One night Raymond went to a basketball game in the Running Water community. There he met the love of his life, Dorothy Willard. The two were married
in Tulia on Feb. 12, 1940, and were blessed to have 75 years together.
Raymond and his brother, Ralph, started farming together in the Cousin community in the late 1930s. Raymond and Dorothy moved to Edmonson in early 1940s. After farming there about 20 years, the couple moved to Tulia in 1962. His life was devoted to farming and providing for his family. He had a special horse, Spec, that he brought from the farm to the back yard for his grandchildren to ride. He even gave his mother a ride on his prized horse. He was full of life. Raymond had a compassionate heart and burning desire to help others. By his example, he instilled a strong work ethic in his children. He shared a strong faith and love with his family. He leaves lots of special memories and a great legacy for his children and grandchildren. We will all miss that twinkle in his eye and his quick wit, even in his moments of confusion.
Raymond is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; infant son, Billy Lloyd; son, Larry; parents, Linnie and Floyd; and brothers William Price, Ralph, Ted and Harold.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Byron Benard of Fort Worth; daughter-in-law, Gwyn Ann Shannon of Tulia; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Kay Shannon of Plainview, James and Judy Shannon of Abernathy; 10 grandchildren, Julie and Mike Mullender, Kristi and Kenneth Martin, Paula Shannon and Bill Hannigan, Kenny and Amanda Shannon, Rhonda and Chip McCampbell, Lisa and Hoyt Taggart, John David and Anne Shannon, Jennifer and Marc Dressler, Jami and Seth Cope, and Jared and Kristin Shannon, 22 great-grandchildren; sisters Nell Berry of San Antonio, Mary Ruth Bond of Pinole, Calif.; brothers Rex Shannon of San Antonio, W.F. Shannon Jr.; sister-in-law, Bobbie Shannon of Lubbock and a host of nieces and nephews.

A.C. Bridwell
LITTLEFIELD - Funeral services for A.C. Bridwell, 87, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. A.J. Kennemer, the Rev. Gary Bivins, and the Rev. R.B. Hall officiating.
Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.
Mr. Bridwell died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at the home of his daughter in Abernathy.
He was born June 17, 1914, in Dawson County. He co-owned and operated Littlefield Butane with Buck Oldham from 1949 to 1991. He and a partner built the Crescent Park Motel in Littlefield and he was a former owner of Lubbock Wrecking.
He had played baseball for the Lubbock Hubbers and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was the Texas State Champion Trap shooter in 1950.
He was a deacon at First Baptist Church.
On June 3, 1939, he married
Naomi Redwine in Paducah. She died Nov. 3, 2000.
Survivors include a son, Jay Bridwell of Austin; two daughters, Missy Cunningham of Abernathy and Kim Longino of Littlefield; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A grandson, Shane Cunningham, died Feb. 23, 1998.
The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
The body will be at Hammons Funeral Home in Littlefield until noon Tuesday. The family will receive friends immediately following services in the parlor at Littlefield First Baptist Church.

Ruth Daniel
FLOYDADA - Funeral services for Ruth Daniel, 88, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Anthony Sisemore, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Floyd County Memorial Park by Moore-Rose-White Funeral home.
Mrs. Daniel died Saturday, March 2, 2002.
She was born Dec. 10, 1913, in Johnson County. She graduated from Newlin Community School in Hall County. She moved to the Dougherty community from Hall County in 1946 and worked as a school bus driver and election judge for the Democratic Party.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Home Demonstration club and First Baptist Church.
In 1933, she married
Jesse Paul Daniel in Hall County. He died in 1946.
Survivors include a son, William “Bill” Daniel of Arcata, Calif.; a daughter, Julia Ann Finley of Floydada; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Annetta Helms
QUITAQUE - Funeral services for Annetta Helms, 92, will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Kirk, the Rev. Don McMahan and the Rev. Lance Cypert officiating.

Mrs. Helms died Sunday, March 2, 2002, in Lubbock.
She was born Aug. 13, 1902, in Greer County, Okla. She moved with her family to Texas in 1906 in a covered wagon. She graduated from Lockney High School and attended West Texas Normal College. She began teaching at Gasoline in 1929.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
On Feb. 25, 1936, she married
William E. “Bill” Helms in Gasoline. He died Jan. 31, 1979.
Survivors include two sons, Jo Edd Helms of Quitaque and Johnnie Helms of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
