Fannie Whitmire
Fannie Whitmire, 88, of Buna, died Monday, June 16, 2003 at the Buna Medical Center & Nursing Home.
Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Antioch Cemetery in Buna.
A native of Nacogdoches, she lived in Buna most of her life and was a retired grocery store clerk.
Survivors include her daughters, Laverne Ruggles and Linda Crocker, both of Buna; sisters, Juanita Coker of Shepherd and Virgil Long of Daisetta; stepdaughter, Hazel Mobley of Buna; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Virginia Craft
Virginia Sue Craft, 59, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held Friday, Feb. 20 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred.
A lifelong resident of Silsbee, she was a housewife.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin Craft of Silsbee; daughters, Kim Laurent of Spurger, Terry McKinney of Silsbee and Stephanie Thompson of Beaumont; mother, Evelyn Tucker of Silsbee, 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Jennie Flowers
Jennie F. Flowers, 89, of Spurger, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004.
A graveside service was held Friday, Feb. 20 at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.
A lifelong resident of Tyler County, she was a housewife.
Survivors include daughters, Catherine Eason of Silsbee, Viola Benton of Spurger, Helen Hutto of Holly Ford, Thelma Spikes of Spurger, Velma Wilson of Baton Rouge, LA, Becky Ramirez of Colmesneil and Marie Willis of Brookland; sons, Stanley Ard and Michael Benton, both of Spurger; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Grover Fagg
Grover Cleveland Fagg, 89, of Evadale, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004 at Pine Arbor Health Care Center in Silsbee.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 24 at Central Baptist Church in Evadale under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery also in Silsbee.
He ws a retired millwright from Temple Inland.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Irene Fagg of Evadale; son, Mike Fagg of Deer Park; daughter, Pat Thompson of Evadale; sisters, Myrl Cornelius and Maxine Reynolds, both of Midland; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Beulah Calhoun
Beulah “Nanny” Calhoun, 93, of Lumberton, died sunday, Feb. 22, 2004 at her residence.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, Feb. 25 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper.
A native of New Albany, MS, she had lived in Lumberton since 1997.
Survivors include sons, Jack Allen Calhoun Sr. of Beaumont and Robert Lynn Calhoun Sr. of Port Neches; daughter, Kathryn Annette Calhoun Green of Lumberton; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Rolfe Christopher
Rolfe Craig Christopher passed from our sight, Sunday, February 22, 2004 at 10:20 a.m. after a courageous fight with cancer.
Craig was born December 6, 1943 in Beaumont, Texas. He was a graduate of South Park High School and Rice University. He was a member of the 1962-65 Rice football team and later became a successful business owner in Houston. Craig was well known for his generous kind nature, his sense of humor and he brought joy to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Craig is preceded in death by his father, Rolfe Coy Christopher.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda (Unruh) Christopher; his children, Clete Christopher, Tom and Christina (Christopher) Hand, Charles and Ginger (Christopher) Wright and Michael and Kimberly (Unruh) Gallaspy; his mother, Virginia (Christopher) Shinn; brother, Gary Christopher; and granddaughters, Jordan Hand and Maggi Gallaspy. He is also survived by numerous other family members and countless friends.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Robert Amato and staff, the GU Infusion Lab and the 11th floor nurses at Methodist West Pavilion.
Services to celebrate his life were held Wednesday, February 25, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at South Park Baptist Church, 795 Woodrow at Kenneth under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends was held Tuesday, February 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Craig’s name to Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund, 3601 Cooks Rd., Silsbee, Texas 77656 or to the Kidney Cancer Association, 1234 Sherman Ave., Suite 203, Evanston, Illinois 60202.
Edith Adaway
Edith Lee Adaway, 76, of Zavalla died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004 at her home.
Funeral service was held Friday, Aug. 6 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Cunningham Cemetery also in Silsbee.
A native of Voth, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include son, William Tanton of Kountze; daughters, Rachel Jeffcoat of Fred, Betty Pixley of Vidor, Elane Henderson of Zavalla, Debra Elmore of Kountze, Janice McKeown of Silsbee and Linda Smith of Vidor; 17 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
