Mitzi Thompson Sheffield, 68, of Nederland, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2004 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at Fellowship Baptist Church in Nederland under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary also in Nederland wtih burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
A native of Glen Richey, PA, she had lived in Nederland 43 years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Westley Sheffield of Nederland; daughter, Sharon Birdsong of Kingsbury; sons, Arthur Sheffield of Keller and Quinton Sheffield of San Marcos; sisters, Ella Mae Turner of Mt. Joy, PA and Velma June Howell of Clearfield, PA; brother, C.W. Thompson Jr. of Clearfield, PA; and six grandchildren.
James Clark Jr.
James Emmitt “Jim” Clark Jr., 70, of Lumberton, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 6 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery also in Silsbee.
A native of Beaumont, he had lived in Lumberton 35 years and was retired from Mobil Oil, he was an electrical engineer. He also served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Clark of Lumberton; daughter, Sherry Caliva of Pearland; sons, Weldon Flowers of Silsbee and James E. Clark III of Orange; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Leo Beal
Leo Beal, 82, of Silsbee, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at his residence.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery also in Silsbee.
He was a retired machine tender at Temple Inland. He was also a United States Army World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean Beal of Silsbee; son, Ronnie Beal of Silsbee; daughters, Linda Storms and Vicki Jordan, both of Evadale; stepdaughters, Michelle Crow of Lumberton, Shirley Griffis of Buna and Tommie Jean Moore of Silsbee; stepsons, Billy Mitchell and Dennis Mitchell, both of Silsbee; brother, Lloyd Beal of Springhill, La.; sisters, Dorothy Jean Rowell of Goldonna, La., Emmaline Dryden of Castor, La. and Katherine Gunter of Natchitoches, La.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Velma Willette
Velma Ellen Hale Willette, 83, of Fort Worth, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 at her residence.
A graveside service was held Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Beaumont under the direction of Forest Lawn Funeral Home also in Beaumont.
Survivors include her daughter, Doris Janell Willette Dorney of Fort Worth; sister, Dolphine “Dolly” Gore of Lumberton; four grandlchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
James Sanford
James Franklin Sanford, 88, of Silsbee, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003 at Silsbee Convalescent Center in Silsbee.
Funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 2, 2004 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Cunningham Cemetery also in Silsbee.
He was a retired plant operator for Kirby Lumber Company.
Survivors include his wife, Naomi Knighten Sanford of Silsbee; sons, Don M. Sanford of Beaumont and Kent F. Sanford of Kountze; daughters, Annie Ruth Knighten of Fred and Laverne Etue of Evadale; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Luetta Lovatt
Luetta Mae Lovatt, 64, of La Porte, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at her residence.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, Dec. 31 at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery in Silsbee.
A native of Burke, SD, she was a longtime resident of New Mexico before moving to Texas.
Survivors include daughter, Luecynthia Karabi of La Porte; son, Thomas Lovatt of La Porte; brother, Don Ludemann of Tulare, SD; sisters, Kayla Luna of Silsbee and Marva Ludemann of Port Neches; and seven grandchildren.
Julia Perlitz
Julia Mae Perlitz, 96, of Bryan, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 at St. Joseph Manor in Brayn.
A graveside service was held Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont under the direction of Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan.
A native of Beaumont and a former longtime resident of Silsbee, she was retried from the Jefferson County Auditors office.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Marshall Wallace of Aransas Pass; stepsons, Jim Perlitz of Kerrville and Pete Perlitz of Crystal City; stepdaughters, Arvilla Jones and Mary Voigtman, both of Silsbee; two grandchildren; 17 step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 29 step-great-grandchildren.
