Henry Lawrence Petry
Funeral services for Henry Lawrence “Bobby” Petry, 74, of Silsbee was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with interment following with a military ceremony at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery also in Silsbee.
Mr. Petry died May 8, 2005 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
A native of Crowley, Louisiana, he was a longtime resident of Silsbee. Mr. Petry was retired from the Army with 20 years service. He served in the Korean Conflict and in Viet Nam. He was then employed by the Texas Department of Transportation for over 25 years before again retiring.
Preceded in death by his son, Gregory Michael Petry, he is survived by his wife, Judy Petry of Silsbee; son, Jeffrey Lawrence Petry and wife Sandra of Sour Lake; brothers, George Petry and wife Phyllis of Heber Springs, Arkansas and Michael Petry and wife Kathy of Orange; sisters, Margaret Manuel and husband Allen of China, Marie Franks of Katy and Melba Boudreaux and husband Ron of Wyoming, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Jason Michael and Jana Petry, Adam Charles Petry, Sarah Elizabeth Petry, Richard Allen Throop and Jason Louis Throop; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Trent Petry and Jason Louis Throop Jr.
Juanita Owings
Juanita Lea Owings, 82, of Kountze, died Friday, May 6, 2005 at Silsbee Convalescent Center.
Funeral service was held Sunday, May 8 at the First United Methodist Church in Kountze under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with burial at Old Hardin Cemetery also in Kountze.
A native of Tulip, Arkansas, she had lived in Kountze 45 years and was a sales clerk for Allen’s Departent Store.
Survivors include her daughters, Nelda Overstreet, Nancy Gandy and Carol McDonald, all of Kountze and Terry McNeely of Beaumont; sisters, Billie Stephens of Kountze and Jo Rood of Malvern, Arkansas; brother, Wayne Lea of Malvern, Arkansas; and 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Peter Petroelje
Peter Petroelje, 90, of Silsbee, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at Morningside Manor in San Antonio from prostate cancer.
Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 11 at the First United Methodist Church in Silsbee under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery also in Silsbee.
A native of Zeeland, Michigan, he had lived in Silsbee 26 years and was a carpenter. He was also a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Martha Petroelje of Silsbee; daughter, Karen Stamm of San Antonio; brother, Jason Petroelje of Holland, Michigan; sister, Angie Patterson of Arlington Heights, Illinois; and one grandchild.
Helen Marie Jones Mitchell
Helen Marie Jones Mitchell, 78, of Beaumont, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon Friday, May 13 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Silsbee under the direction of Calvary Mortuary in Beaumont with burial at Live Oak Cemetery also in Beaumont.
She was a native of Jasper.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Percy Mitchell of Beaumont; sons, Claude Mitchell of Buna and Mark Mitchell of Beaumont; daughters, Delores Pollard, Brenda Charles, Jacquline Samuel, Debra Hickman, Phyllis Wycoff, all of Beaumont and Diane DeVaughn of Sugarland; and 25 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Michael Yancey
Michael James Yancey, 54, of Lumberton, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 11 at the First Baptist Church in Lumberton under the direction of Claybar Kelley-Watkins Funeral Home in Beaumont with burial at Frankston City Cemetery in Frankston.
A native of Beaumont, he was a retired computer programmer.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Yancey of Lumberton; mother, Peggy Yancey of Beaumont; sons, Barry Yancey and Bryan Yancey, both of Beaumont; daughter, Beth Yancey of Dallas; son, Will Shaver of Lumberton; daughter, Bonnie Shaver of Lumberton; brother, William Yancey of Beaumont; sister, Judy Posey of Lumberton; and four grandchildren.

Debra Yvonne Conner Carter, 44, of Conroe, died Saturday, May 7, 2005 at her home.

A native of Vidor, she was manager of Flowers Baking Co.
Survivors include sons, Joey Carter of Conroe, Brandon Carter of Sherman and Joshua Smith of Lumberton; daughters, Crystal Carter of Lufkin and Ashley Sanders of Conroe; mother, Verna J. Purvis of Silsbee; brother, Floyd Benjamin Conner Jr. of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; and sister, Peggy Tucker of Livingston.
Oliver Mitchell Sr.
Oliver Bailey Mitchell Sr., 75, of Lumberton, died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Dec. 30 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery also in Silsbee.
A native of Woodville, he had lived in Lumberton the past 45 years and retired as a welder from Mobil Oil after 39 years of service.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Julia Weeks Mitchell; daughters, Cynthia Lee of Colorado Springs, CO and Teresa Shaw of Euless; sons, Buster Mitchell and Joe Mitchell, both of Lumberton; numerous granchildren; and great-grandchildren.
