Tiana Lanae’ Henry, infant daughter of Joshua Henry and LaTisha Irvin, both of Silsbee, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004 at Christus Schumpter Hospital in Shreveport, La.
A graveside service was held Monday, Jan. 12 at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Silsbee under the direction of Proctor’s Mortuary also in Silsbee.
Survivors other than her parents include grandparents, June Jackson, Elton Irvin and Greg Henry, all of Silsbee and Theresa Henry, of Beaumont; and great-grandparents, Arthur and Nola Henry, Walter Jean Fowler, and Mrs. Elton Irvin Sr., all of Silsbee and Mrs. Emery of Michigan.
Irene Hawthorne
Irene Lee Wilson Hawthorne, 88, of Silsbee, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2004 Silsbee Convalescent Center.
Funeral service was held Saturday, Jan. 10 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Friendship Cemetery in Roganville.
A native of Bleakwood, she lived the past 60 years in Silsbee and was a retired nurse’s aide having worked at the Baptist Hospital, Silsbee Doctors Hospital and the Kountze Hospital.
Survivors include daughters, Wanda Nevills and Jeanelle Scoggins, both of Silsbee; son, Terry Hawthorne of Silsbee; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Tennie Moore
Tennie Moore, 74, of Fred, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14 at the funeral home.
A lifelong resident of Fred, she was a nurse aide at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Survivors include son, Earnest Ray Moore of Evadale; daughters, Carolyn Juanita Denmon, Norma Jean Burnes and Tena Viola Burnes, all of Fred; brothers, Bill Bell of Port Acres, Britton Bell of Blessings, and Buddy Bell of Fred; sisters, Ettie “Pud” Garouette of Nederland, Mary Hicks of Fred and Jeanette Rao of Alexandria, Ark.; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Rosa Petitt
Rosa Petitt, 82, of Fred, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004 at her residence.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 13 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Brewer Smith Cemetery in Simpson, La.
A native of Simpson, La., she had lived most of her life in Nederland.
Survivors include sons, Randy Petitt of Fred and Richard Petitt of Katy; sisters, Ollie Boettger and Fannie Jackson, both of Simpson, La. and Corina Wiggington of Port Arthur; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Melda Tucker
Melda Bean Tucker, 91, of Kirbyville, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004 at Southland Health Care Center in Lufking.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 13 at E.E. Stinger Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Magnolia Springs Cemetery in Magnolia.
A native and lifelong resident of Kirbyville, she was a LVN having worked for Dr. W.F. McCright and Dr. John T. Moore for many years; also at Hotel Dieu and St. Theresa Hospital. During World War II she worked at Consolidated Steel Shipyard.
Survivors include daughters, Virginia Sheridan of Hawley, Essie Marie Lee of Buna, and Kathy McBride of Lufkin; son, Lloyd Thompson of Silsbee; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Berniece Plemons
Berniece Plemons, 83, of Silsbee, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004 at Silsbee Convalescent Center.
Funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 12 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Beaumont.
A native of Corsicana, she was a lifelong resident of Silsbee and a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughters, Gwendolyn Jo Plemons of Beaumont and Rhonda McNeil of Silsbee; and three grandchildren.
Herbert Howard
Herbert Holton Howard, 70, of Lumberton, died Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held Monday, Jan. 12 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.
A native of Starks, La., he had lived in Lumberton since 1988 and was a retired longshoreman. He was also a United States Army Korean Conflict veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Price Howard of Lumberton; sons, John Howard of Beaumont, Matthew Howard of United States Navy at Newport News, Va., and Phillip Howard and Josh Howard, both of Lumberton; daughters, Paula Spencer of Calif. and Loretta Warren of Beaumont; sister, Lucille Ellis and Christine Braneff; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
