Vera Inez Franklin, 83, of Buna, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2004 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 9 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Buna under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Morse Cemetery also in Buna.
Survivors include son, Ralph E. “Eddie” Franklin; daughter, Beverly “Candy” Caillier; brothers, Freddy Cryer, Bobby Cryer and Lannie Cryer; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Lanie Whitmire
Lanie Whitmire, 80, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 9 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred.
A native of Silsbee and a longtime resident of Dam B, she had lived in Buna the past seven years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Russell Walters of Spurger and Crockett Whitmire of Lumberton; daughter, Odell Worsham of Buna; brothers, Artie Gore of Town Bluff and Bo Gore of Kountze; sister, Ardell Ward of Silsbee; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Maxine Beck
Maxine Vivian Beck, 65, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held Thursday, Jan. 8 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery also in Silsbee.
A native of Shreveport, La., she had lived in Silsbee the past 50 years and was a housewife.
Survivors include her husband, Duane Beck of Silsbee; daughter, Vicki Baker of Silsbee; sons, Perry Beck, Kyle Beck and Dennis Beck, all of Silsbee; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
James Davis Sr.
James L. “Stinky” Davis, 79, of Kountze, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held Thursday, Jan. 8 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Beuamont with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park also in Beaumont.
A native of Center and a former resident of Beaumont, he was a United States Army veteran having served five years in World War II and in Japan.
Survivors include his wife, Flossie McCauley Davis of Kountze; son, James L. Davis Jr. of Beaumont; daughter, Jerry Lynn Hall of Kountze; brother, B.R. Davis of Beaumont; sisters, Frances Anderson of Sweetwater, Maxine Hanna of Beaumont and Margaret Jane Moore of North Carolina; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Drucilla Derr
Drucilla Derr, 75, of Kountze, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 at Country Dreams in Kountze.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Beaumont (Major Drive location) with burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
A native of Little Rock, Ark., she had lived in the area nearly 30 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Piper Bonura of Bevil Oaks; sister, Clo Malina; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Lois French
Lois Lavonne Kuehl French, 73, of Lumberton, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, Jan. 13 at L.M. Willams and Sons Funeral Home in Beaumont with burial at Magnolia Cemetery.
A native of Littleport, Iowa, she had lived in Beaumont, Crystal Beach and Lumberton for 50 years and worked as a secretary at Ideco in Beaumont and retired from the Gastronenterology Department of UTMB in Galveston.
Survivors include daughter, Debbie Maxwell of Beaumont; sons, Lee Jay French of Jasper, AL, Larry French of Lumberton and Reggie French of Groves; sister, Linda Glense of Elkader, IA; brothers, Kenny Rieck of Orange, Curt Kuehl of Stafford and Larry Kuehl of Chanute, KS.
Nelda Spell-Fuller
Nelda Jean Spell-Fuller, 74, of Lumberton, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was Wednesday, Jan. 14 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze.
A native of Village Mills, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Sabrina Baisdon of Beaumont; stepdaughter, Pat Askew of Buna; stepsons, Terry Fuller of Beaumont, Shelby Arthur of Buna and Roger Russell, of Silsbee; and two grandchilddren.
