Odell Samuel
Odell Samuel, 71, of Silsbee, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Silsbee under the direction of Mercy Funeral Home in Beaumont with burial at Kirby Cemetery also in Silsbee. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at the church.
A native of Marshall, she had lived in Silsbee 20 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Taylor of Silsbee; sisters, Dorothy Hunter of Los Angeles, CA and Lurline Lagrone of Marshall; brother, Mervie Lee Gooch of Jefferson; three grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

Jessie Free
Jessie James Free, 77, of Silsbee, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004 at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery also in Silsbee. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14 at the funeral home.
A native of Jasper, AL, he had lived in Silsbee 18 years and was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Free of Silsbee; two stepchildren; four brothers; four sisters; and six grandchildren.

Daisy Twine
Daisy Lee Twine, 80, of Silsbee, died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at St. Beulah Baptist Church in Silsbee under the direction of Robinson Community Funeral Home in Jasper with burial at Kirby Cemetery also in Silsbee. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at the church.
Survivors include daughter, Mary Twine of Silsbee; son, Homer Twine Jr. of Beaumont; and one grandchild.

Luke Seymour
Luke Joseph Sonny Seymour, 90, of Vidor, died Wednesday, May 18, 2005 at his home.
Funeral service was held Saturday, May 21 at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with burial at Del Rose Cemetery in Vidor.
A native of Beaumont, he was a heavy equipment operator and a carpenter.
Survivors include his daughters, Patricia Ann McGallion of Silsbee and Judy Lynn Sonnier of Orange; son, Rodney J. Seymour of Lockbuie, Colorado; brothers, Percy Seymour of Elton, Louisiana, Ruby Seymour of Beaumont and Floyd Seymour of Rose City; and 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Miriam Smith
Miriam C. “Miro” Smith, 80, of Fred, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
A graveside service was held Friday, May 20 at Franks Branch Cemetery in Fred under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.
A native of Fred, she had lived in Beaumont for many years before movinig back to Fred and was retired from Warren School District.
Survivors include son, Jack Wayne Smith of Fred; daughter, Joan Harper of Hemphill; brothers, John Robert Callaway of Barlow Lakes and Pate Callaway of Town Bluff; and three grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Martha Ruggles
Martha Gail Ruggles, 58, of Houston, died Tuesday, May 17, 2005 in Palestine.
Funeral service was held Saturday, May 21 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Silsbee with burial at R.S. Farmer Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home also in Silsbee.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Ruggles of Houston; daughters, Kim Carlton of Salt Lake City, Utah and Pat Palmer of Cedar City, Utah; sister, Lynda Samson of Palestine; and three grandchildren.

Nettie Gardiner
Nettie Marie Gardiner, 62, of Lumberton, died Sunday, May 22, 2005 at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 25 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial at Hooks Cemetery.
A native of Loeb and a lifelong resident of Lumberton, she was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Wendel Gardiner Sr. of Lumberton; son, Wendel Gardiner Jr. of Lumberton; daughters, Martha Williams of Mauriceville, Sherry Nash of Vidor and Gwendelyn Mercer of Lumberton; brothers, Red Spears of Lumberton, George Stutts of Honey Island and Kenneth Wilson of Beaumont; sisters, Carolyn Hebert of Fannett, Nancy Deshotel of Basile, Louisiana, Frances Edwards of Tarkington Prairie and Kathy Seabridge of Silsbee; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
