Dennis Phelps
Dennis Jay Phelps, 41, of Silsbee, died Friday, March 26, 2004 at his residence.
Cremation was under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.
A native of Pututerts Naval Station in Maryland, he had been a longtime resident of Beaumont before moving to Silsbee in 2002 and was a painter in the construction industry.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Jackie V. and John R. Lathrop of Silsbee; brother, Darrel L. Phelps of Winter Park, FL; and sister, Christina A. Bell of Desota.
Gerald Flowers
Gerald T. “Tom” Flowers, 59, of Kountze, died Monday, March 22, 2004.
Funeral service was held Thursday, March 25 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Kountze with cremation under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary.
A native of Orange, he was a longtime resident of Kountze. He served as Kountze City councilman, was a director for both the Kountze Chamber of Commerce and First National Bank of Silsbee and helped establish and run Kountze Heavy Duty Parts. He was also a United States Air Force Vietnam veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Flowers of Kountze; son, Tony Flowers of Beaumont; daughters, April Flowers of Norman, OK and Christy Kingston of Nederland; mother, Barbara Bockmon of the Austin area; brother, John Bockmon of the Austin area; sisters, Lollie Flowers-Raetzsch of Columbus and Ada Ross, Jeanette Bockmon, Rexine Boatman and Melissa Fox, all of the Austin area; and two grandchildren.
Erica Hymel
Erica Jazz Hymel, 9, of Silsbee died Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.
Funeral service was held Saturday, March 27 at the First Baptist Church in Silsbee under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home also in Silsbee with burial at Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Fairmount.
She was a student at the Brown Christian Academy in Silsbee.
Survivors include her parents, Carol and Wilfred “Pete” Hymel Jr. of Silsbee; and grandparents, Lucy and Wilfred “Pete” Hymel Sr. of Vacherie, LA and Butch and Mary Dell Garrison of Hemphill.
Marjorie DuBose
Marjorie DuBose, 74, of Kountze, died Sunday, March 28, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, March 30 at the First Baptist Church in Lumberton under the direction of Forest Park Funeral Home in Beaumont with burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park also in Beaumont.
A native of Fouke, AR, she was an area resident since 1937.
Survivors include her husabnd, Robert “Pete” DuBose of Kountze; son, Joel Keith DuBose of Beaumont; daughters, Terry Kibodeaux of Orange and Tammy Payne of Beaumont; brothers, Frank Harvey of Nederland, Tommy Harvey of Beaumont, Larry Harvey of Columbia, SC and David Harvey of Conroe; sister, Mildred Chance of Lumberton; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Dorothy Valigura
Dorothy Fabriguze Valigura, 67, died Saturday, March 27, 2004.
Funeral service was held Tuesday, March 30 at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Valigura of Houston; son, Richard; sisters, Bonnie Farmer, Carolyn Dean and Beverly Johnson; and two grandchildren.
Anthony Patton
Anthony James Patton, 39, of Irving, died Sunday, March 28, 2004 at Zale Lipshy Hospital in Dallas.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 3 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Silsbee under the direction of Proctor Mortuary with burial at Kirby Cemetery also in Silsbee.
A former resident of Silsbee, he was a Resolution Specialist with Medco Pharmaceutical in Irving.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Thompson Patton of Irving; sons, Xavier Rashard Lacy of Kountze and Jay Anthony Patton and Jeremiah Anthony Patton, both of Irving; mother, Geneva Patton of Silsbee; brother, William Kelly Patton of Silsbee; and sister, Kristie LaVon Patton of Carrollton.
Robert Guidry
Robert Guidry, 85, of Kountze, died Sunday, March 28, 2004 at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral service was held Wednesday, March 31 at Broussard’s Mortuary in Winnie with burial at High Island Cemetery.
A native of High Island, he was a former 30 year resident of Vidor and was retired from the oilfield industry. He also served in the United States Army during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Guidry of Kountze; sons, William Guidry, Arthur Guidry, and James Guidry, all of High Island; stepdaughter, Sharon Crissey of Kountze; sisters, Evelyn Ann McCagg and Georgia Ann Maples, both of Port Bolivar; brother, Sammie Guidry of LaBelle; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
