George Edward Griffin
Services for the Rev. George Edward Griffin, 78, of Sherman are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Southside Baptist Church in Bowie with the Rev. Danny Wood officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery in Sunset under the direction of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home of Bowie.
The Rev. Griffin died Feb. 28, 2000, in Dallas.
He was born Jan. 5, 1922, in Dixie.
The Rev. Griffin surrendered to preach in 1951 at Mobley Avenue Church in Longview. He began Trinity Baptist Church in Longview, Fellowship Baptist Church in Athens and Faith Baptist Church in Gilmer. He served as pastor at Sunnyside Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, Southside Baptist Church in Bowie, First Baptist Church in Deport, First Baptist Church in Cookville, Calvary Baptist Church in Bonham, First Baptist Church in Savoy, First Baptist Church in Ivanhow and First Baptist Church in Caddo, Okla.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Q. and Ophelia Griffin; granddaughter, Kelly Huddleston; and brothers, Carl Griffin and Odis Griffin.
The Rev. Griffin is survived by his wife, Josephine "Jo" Griffin of Sherman; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Wayne Couch of Pattonville, Betsy and Wendell Kennedy of Sherman and Rhetta and Biff Huddleston of Sunset; eight grandchildren, Vicki Ballard of Paris, Kim Helms of Roxton, Dr. Wayne Couch of Rawlins, Wyo., Angela Greeley of Quitman, Jana Dean of Sherman, Heather Hatchtel of Carrolton and Jeremy Huddleston of Sunset; 11 great-grandchildren; two nieces; and two nephews.
Visitation is scheduled for 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Anna Cleo English

Mrs. English died March 20, 1911, in Arlington.
She was born March 27, 1911, in Honey Grove. She worked as a nurse.
Mrs. English was preceded in death by her husbands, Ranzy Williams and Olin English; and sons, Billy and Joe Williams.
Survivors include her stepdaughter, Wanda Allison of Houston; stepsons, Garvin English of Houston and Gary English of Houston; sons, Don Williams of Pottsboro Jerry Williams of North Richland Hills and Jon Williams of Arlington; 10 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Blake, Bill Cate, Kirk Graves, Derek Jemeysen, Kirk Jordan and Jeff Spencer.

John M. Shumate

Mr. Shumate died May 2, 2002, in Malakoff.
He was born Aug. 24, 1917, in Henderson County to William Houston and Mettie Beatrice Wright Shumate.
Mr. Shumate was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a union carpenter for 50 years. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America -- Local Union 198 and 429. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Annie Louise Monroe Shumate; two brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Doyle and Polly Shumate, Ralph Wayne and Rebecca Shumate and Jerry Mack Shumate; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Norman Millican, Barbara and Jack Hearn, Quieva and Glenn Williams, Mary and Fred Carter, Linda and Dick Jones and Marsha and Phillip Grant; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Normal Millican, Jack Hearn, Glenn Williams, Fred Carter, Dick Jones, Phillip Grant, Lewis Vieregge, Randy Monroe and George Corn.

She was born June 11, 1914, in Stockdale to George and Delphy Allen.
Previously of Dallas, she lived in the Cedar Creek Lake area 33 years. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Tool.
Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her husband, Jones Sanders; parents; and two brothers.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Wes Alexander of Tool; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Connie Sanders of Yukon, Okla.; sister, Dorothy Sears of Dublin; brother, Doyle Allen of Herber Springs, Ark.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Frank, Jerry, Johnny and Larry Allen, Mike Alexander and Russell Alexander.
Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
