Larry Allen Wegner
Funeral services for Larry Allen Wegner, 58, of Tool, were held 11 a.m. Monday in Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Seven Points, with the Rev. Eston Williams officiating.
Burial was in Groton Union Cemetery with full military rites by Groton American Legion Honor Guard of Groton, S.D.
Mr. Wegner died Friday, Feb. 18, 2000, in Tyler.
He was born Aug. 31, 1941, in Aberdeen, S.D., to Robert S. and Barbara Allen Wegner. He grew up in Groton and graduated from Groton High School in 1959. In 1963, he graduated from South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D. While in high school and college, he played football. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He was in ROTC in college and, after graduation, was commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Air Force. He served in the Vietnam War, where he flew KC135 tankers and attained the rank of captain. Following his Air Force career, he joined American Airlines.
He married Linda Pope of Aberdeen, S.D., on Sept. 1, 1963. He married Marcia Willis on May 2, 1983.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Ann Wegner, who died at the age of 3 in 1968.
Survivors include daughter, Stephanie Gean Jackson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Brenden and Jourdan Jackson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his parents, Robert and Barbara Wegner; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Carol Wegner of Medina, Minn., and Robert and Jeannette Wegner of Groton, S.D.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Rob Wanous of Groton.

Inez Walling Beberstein
Services for Inez Walling Beberstein, 91, of Athens are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Athens with the Rev. Don Wilson officiating.
Graveside services and burial are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. Arrangement are under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Inez was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend.
She was born in Athens on Feb. 9, 1909, to Jim and Mollie Tyler Walling. She passed away at her home Thursday, May 18, 2000.
She lived in Dallas from 1926 to 1975. She resided in Athens for the remainder of her years, where she was a member of First Christian Church. Her life was devoted to helping others in her family, church and community. She was a lifelong student of the Bible and taught Sunday School for more of her adult life, including tenures at Greenville Ave. Christian Church in Dallas and at First Christian Church.
She was a member of the volunteer quilters at her church and served at the food pantry in Athens for many years.
Inez was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jess Beberstein; and grandson, Todd Tucker.
Survivors include sister, Mrs. William Crabtree of Houston, Mrs. Fayrene Cochran and Mrs. Louise Williford of Carrollton; son and daughter-in-law, Norbert and Loretta Beberstein of Bowie; daughter, Charlyne Tucker of Athens; grandchildren, Mark Beberstein of Arlington, Lisa (Beberstein) and Sam Williams of Nocona, Clay Beberstein of Arlington; Dr. Susan Tucker and Dr. Jim Huth of Dallas, Matt and Nan Tucker of Little Rock, Ark., Richard and Kathy Tucker of Chicago, Ted Tucker of Athens and Stephen Tucker and Candace Johnson of Addison; great-grandchildren, Erika Beberstein, Monika and Quincey Ricklefsen, Meghan Bentley, Rhett Tigner, Julia Tucker-Huth and Tucker Alexander Huth and Ashley and Amy Tucker. Her great-great-grandchildren are Alex Plaster and Jason Ricklefsen.
She was loved by her family, who will greatly miss her. She loved the Lord and tried with her whole being to serve Him well. Her character and quiet strength will be missed by all who knew her.
Pallbearers will be Mark Beberstein, Clay Beberstein, Matt Tucker, Richard Tucker, Ted Tucker, Dr. James Huth, Dr. Stephen Walling and Steve Tucker.

Gurley Sanders
Services for Gurley Sanders, 85, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Saint Matthias Episcopal Church with Father Donald Hickman officiating.
Burial will follow at Athens City Cemetery under the direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home.
Mr. Sanders died Aug. 9, 2000, in Athens.
He was born March 12, 1915, in Henderson County to A.W. and Jeanette Gothard Sanders.
Mr. Sanders was a lifelong resident of Athens and member of Saint Matthias Episcopal Church. He was a well known writer and wrote the column Gurleyver's Travels for the Athens Review.
He was preceded in death by parents; and brothers, Delmas Sanders, J.T. Sanders and Millard Sanders.
Survivors include sister, Maudine Rogers of Athens; four nieces, Gail Pryor of Waco, Barbara Ann Buckley of Surgarland, Jerre Boyd of Athens and Vicki Hall of Athens; and nephews, Bobby Sanders of Texas City and Mark Cupp of Athens.
Pallbearers will be Dr. N.D. Geddie Jr., Dr. Robert Eckert, Wes Sims, Bobby Sanders, Clay Hegar and Jim Jezek.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glynn Chipley, Bobby Boyd, John Hall and Raymond Stanford.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Bertha L. Young
Graveside services for Bertha L. Young, 76, of Malakoff are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Malakoff Cemetery with the Rev. Ron Huckabee officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Mrs. Young died Aug. 10, 2000, in Athens.
She was born June 3, 1924, in Amity, Ark.
Formerly of Dallas, Mrs. Young retired as a bookkeeper in the wholesale carpet industry. She was Episcopalian.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Hendrix and Esther Leah Veteto-Burchfield; five brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include husband, Vaughn T. Young of Malakoff; sons and daughter-in-law, Larry Thomas and Teresa Young of Dallas, Leslie Howard Young of Malakoff and Lynn Dee Young of Malakoff; brothers, Garland Burchfield of Fort Worth and Victor Burchfield of Woburn, Mass.; sister, Lucy Henderson of California; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Jean Jewel James
Services for Jean Jewel James, 77, of Seven Points were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Seven Points with the Rev. Michael Caldwell officiating.
Burial is scheduled for Tuesday at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Mrs. James died May 18, 2000, in Seven Points.
Previously of Dallas, she and her husband moved to the Cedar Creek area in 1973. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. Mrs. James was also a member of Eastern Star and Promenade Square Dance Club.
Survivors include her husband, Weldon James of Seven Points; sons, Joe R. James of Garland, Richard James of Priceton and Weldon James of Tool; and brother, John T. Smith of Dallas.
Joan W. Tidmore Hummer
Services for Joan W. Tidmore Hummer, 63, of North Richland Hills are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Faith Christian Fellowship of Tarrant County in Fort Worth.
Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Allen Cemetery in Murchison under the direction of Shannon Rufe Snow Drive Funeral Chapel of Fort Worth.
Ms. Hummer died Nov. 11, 1999, in Fort Worth.
She was born March 3, 1936, in Dallas. She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and was a member of Faith Christian Fellowship of Tarrant County.
Ms. Hummer is survived by two daughters, one brother and three granddaughters.
