Dorothy Lee Hutchins Ferrell
Services for Dorothy Lee Hutchins Ferrell, 76, of Malakoff are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church Malakoff with the Rev. Mark Vaughn and Frank Upchurch officiating.
Burial will follow at Patterson Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Mrs. Ferrell died Sept. 27, 2000, in Athens.
She was born Jan. 26, 1924, in Dallas to Tony and Annie Culley Chestney Hutchins.
Previously of Mesquite, she moved to Malakoff in 1956. She was a homemaker and a member of Payne Springs Assembly of God Church.
Mrs. Ferrell was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Walter Hutchins.
Survivors include husband, Lonnie E. Ferrell Jr. of Malakoff; children, Lonnie E. III and Dianne Ferrell of Caddo Mills, Toney E. Ferrell of Malakoff, Mark and Rosemary Ferrell of Cross Roads, Dan and Dana Ferrell of Trinidad, Lola and Earl Wayne Beets of Eustace, Joe and Amanda Ferrell of Cross Roads and Kelvin Ferrell of Malakoff; 28 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie E. Ferrell IV, Bradley Ferrell, Mark Ferrell, Pius Ferrell, Joshua Beets and Walt Ferrell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Ferrell, Chad Ferrell, Jeff Ferrell, Trent Ferrell, Joseph Ferrell, Cole Ferrell, Isaac Ferrell, Jeremy Beets, Wayne Beets and Luke Beets.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Payne Springs Assembly of God Church.
Owen Phillips
Graveside services for Owen Phillips, 90, of Kemp were held at 11 a.m. Friday at Grove Hill Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Mr. Phillips died Sept. 26, 2000, in Kemp.
He was born Nov. 17, 1909, in Greenville to Joseph and Mary Phillips.
Mr. Phillips was a retired truck driver for Wale Trucking Company and was a Baptist. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.He was preceded in death by wife, Eunice Bandy Phillips, in 1998; and sister, Opal Averitt.
Survivors include son, Gary Phillips of Sanger; stepson, Gerald Lee of Duncanville; sister, Kay Nelson of Tool; brother, James A. Phillips of Mansfield; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Albert W. Speer
Services for Albert, W. Speer, 76, of Chandler are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Brownsboro with John Dowd officiating.
Burial with Masonic rites will follow at Leagueville Cemetery in Henderson County under the direction of Chandler Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Speer died Sept. 28, 2000, in Chandler.
He was born Feb. 15, 1924, in Henderson County.
Mr. Speer was a lifelong resident of Henderson County. He was a member of First Assembly of God Brownsboro. Before retirement, he owned and operated a logging company. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 1051 since 1972.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Ella Speer.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, David and Jan Speer of Brownsboro and Douglas R. "Nubben" and Sue Speer of Brownsboro; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jerry Green of Brownsboro; brother, Wesley Speer of Duncanville; sister, Marie Tedford of Brownsboro; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will include Jerry D. Compton, Leroy Coffie, Melvin Ferguson, Jake Lindsey, Jack Davidson and Troy Davis.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of Masonic Lodge No. 1051.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Vickie Spivey Barnes
Graveside services for Vickie Spivey Barnes, 46, of Cross Roads are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at Tool Cemetery in Henderson County. The Revs. Frank Upchurch and Joe Smith will be officiating and services are under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Mrs. Barnes died Nov. 9, 1999, in Cross Roads.
She was born Dec. 9, 1952, to Lowell Forrest and Weta Mae Hearne Spivey. She graduated from Malakoff High School and was a resident of Cross Roads for 15 years. She was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church and was employed at Cross Roads Junior High School for seven years as a teacher aid.
Mrs. Barnes was preceded in death by her father, Lowell Spivey.
She is survived by her husband, David Barnes of Cross Roads; daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Mike Dowell of Cross Roads, Cindy and Kerry Harris of Athens and Valerie and Kevin Pagitt of Athens; mother and stepfather, Weta and Bobby Spivey of Tool; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers will include Tripp Spivey, Joe Johnson, Phillip Spivey, Eric Garvin, Robert Koepp and Charles Koepp.
Honorary pallbearers will be from the Cross Roads Independent School District.
Visitation is scheduled for 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Lillian Marie Novotny
Graveside services for Lillian Marie Novotny, 79, of Eustace are scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday in the Payne Springs Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank. The Rev. Steve Glosup will be officiating.
Mrs. Novotny died Nov. 9, 1999 in Eustace.
She was born Nov. 24, 1919, in Kenefic, Okla, to Jerry and Abbie Pecsnoasky Dokoupil. Previously of Dallas, she lived in Eustace for 14 years. She retired in 1960 from Irving Independent School District, where she taught first grade.
Mrs. Novotny was preceded in death by brothers, Jerry and Milton Dokoupil.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Janice Novotny; grandchildren, Theresa and Randy Brown of Rowlett, Stacy and Danny Vess of Dallas and Mindy Novotny of Garland; sisters, Irene Durkee, Anita Dokoupil and Doris Dokoupil, all of Dallas; and many other family members.
Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Betty Jo Carter
Graveside services for Betty Jo Carter, 66, of Temecula, Calif., and formerly of Normangee are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Post Oak Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Normangee Funeral Home with the Rev. Jamie Starkes will be officiating.
Mrs. Carter died Feb. 14, 2000, in Temecula, Calif.
She was born July 2, 1933, in Muleshoe to Hugh and Estelle Bishop.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, A.D. Carter of Temecula, Calif.; daughters and son-in-law, Brenda Sue Carter of Henderson, Nev., and Buddy and Cheri Linn of Temecula, Calif.; brother, Bob Bishop of Normangee; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Pallbearers will be nephews Richard Chandler, DeWayne Stewart, Joey Wilson, Mike Wilson, Brad Wilson and Don Chandler.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a heart, kidney or arthritis research foundation.
Violet Jo Farrell
