Melvin Eldridge Hocutt
Graveside services for Melvin Eldridge Hocutt 65, of Athens are scheduled for Wednesday at Liberty Cemetery in Van Zandt County under the direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home of Athens. The Rev. Frank Upchurch will be officiating.
Mr. Hocutt died Nov. 7, 1999, in Dallas.
He was born June 11, 1934, in Henderson County to Luther J. and Della Gartman Hocutt. After leaving his career as a truck driver in 1983, he managed the Victorian Inn in Athens for eight years. He served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War and was a Baptist.
Mr. Hocutt was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Hocutt, on Nov. 13, 1995; and brother, J.W. Hocutt.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Hocutt of Wills Point; son, Ricky Hocutt of Oklahoma City, Okla.; brothers, Bob Hocutt of Canadian and Jordan Hocutt of Tatum, David Hocutt of Dallas, Marlin Hocutt of Athens and Dale Hocutt of Dallas; grandchildren, Brian Chrisman of Myrtle Springs, and Brandon, Tyler and Lacy Hocutt, all of Dallas; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Courtney Renee Kimery
Services for Courtney Renee Kimery, 18, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with Porter Dupree officiating.
Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Park under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Miss Kimery died Nov. 3, 1999, in Acuna, Coahuila, Mexico.
She was born May 4, 1981, in Athens and attended Athens public schools.
Miss Kimery is survived by her parents, Jamie and Virginia Beard of Athens; brother, James Michael Beard of Athens; grandparents, Wayne and Nona Kimery of Murchison and Juanita Beard of Athens; great-grandmother, Nona V. Boyd of Athens; uncles and aunts, Wayne Xane and Debbie Kimery of Snyder and Glen and Betty Herriage of Athens; and two cousins.
Pallbearers will be Chad Swindle, Paul Boyd, Jonathan Mills, Jerry Beard, Tad Morton and Montana Jones.
Visitation is scheduled for 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
June Plunkett
A memorial service for June Plunkett, 72, of Mabank is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank with Dr. Royce Riley officiating. Services are under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mrs. Plunkett died Nov. 4, 1999, in Tyler.
She was born March 21, 1927, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Glen and Allie Byers Brunk. She lived in Mabank since 1981 and was a Methodist. She traveled the world with the Plunkett Brothers Circus, performing in Hong Kong, Japan, Europe and in every Canadian province. She was invited in 1979 to Monaco to perform for royalty by Prince Ranier and Princess Grace. She loved to make people laugh.
Mrs. Plunkett is survived by her daughters, Jan Plunkett and Judy Coggins, both of Shreveport, La.; sons, James and Jeff Plunkett of Mabank; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many other nieces, nephews and other family members.
Lillian Novotny
Services for Lillian Novotny, 79, of Eustace are pending with Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mrs. Novotny died Nov. 9, 1999, in Eustace.
Paul "Papa' Chaney
Services for Paul "Papa" Chaney, 85, of Athens are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Gibbs officiating.
Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Henderson County under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Mr. Chaney died Feb. 14, 2000, in Athens.
He was born Aug. 31, 1914, in Van Zandt County to William T. and Millie Feagins Chaney.
Mr. Chaney was a resident of Athens for 60 years. He retired from the wholesale grocery business and was a member of Central Baptist Church. Mr. Chaney served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Chaney, on Oct. 31, 1994; six brothers; and two sisters.
Mr. Chaney is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Cathey Chaney of Martins Mill, Thomas and Marsha Chaney and Milburn and Bonni Chaney, all of Athens; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
John Maxwell Stewart
Services for John Maxwell Stewart, 70, of Jacksonville are scheduled for a later date under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Mr. Stewart died Feb. 13, 2000, in Tyler.
He was born May 4, 1929, in Ajo, Ariz.
Mr. Stewart was a member of Payne Springs Methodist Church and was self-employed in the upholstery business.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Virginia Stewart, in 1995; his parents; four brothers; and one sister.
Mr. Stewart is survived by his children, James E. Stewart of Jacksonville, John Scott Stewart of Avinger, Jane Guierra of Austin and Bryan Herbert; sisters, Ann Berry of Manchester N.H., and Louise Stewart of Farnington, N.H.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Richard Kent Hitt
Services for Richard Kent Hitt, 50, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Payne Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Chatham officiating.
Burial will follow at Payne Springs Cemetery in Payne Springs under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mr. Hitt died May 14, 2000, in Athens.
He was born Dec. 3, 1949, in Dallas to Hubert Harvey and Martha Lee McLauchlin Hitt.
Mr. Hitt was preceded in death by his mother on April 1, 2000.
Survivors include his father, Hubert Harvey Hitt of Athens; brothers, Jerry Hitt of Richardson and Rusty Hitt of Dallas; nieces, Kathy Taylor of Arlington and Leigh Hitt of Denton; nephew, Russell Collin Hitt of Dallas; and other family members.
Edward Lee Dellis
Services for Edward Lee Dellis, 75, of Mabank are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday at Four Mile Lutheran Church in Van Zandt County with the Rev. Clayton McCord officiating.
Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mr. Dellis died Aug. 2, 2000, in Dallas.
He was born March 18, 1925, in Mabank to Lester and Lavern Carlisle Dellis.
Mr. Dellis was a lifetime resident of Mabank. He was a member of Four Mile Lutheran Church and the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. Mr. Dellis was a cattle rancher and livestock weigher in various places in Texas. He received a bachelor of science degree in animal husbandry from Texas A&M University in 1946. Mr. Dellis was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II.
Survivors include wife of 53 years, Mary Katharine Dellis of Mabank; son, John Edward Dellis of Seguin; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William and Beth Shaffer of Fairfield Glade, Tenn.; four nephews; one niece; and many other family members.
Pallbearers will be Joe Burns, Troy Ellis, Monroe Hunter, Robert Manning, Gene Pablo and Glen Stout.
