Patsy Bennett Harvey
Memorial services for Patsy Bennett Harvey, 66, of Athens are scheduled for 5 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Kyle Henderson officiating.
Private burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Park under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Mrs. Harvey died Sept. 23, 2000, in Athens.
She was born Sept. 15, 1934, in Murchison to Ralph and Elva Halbert Whittington.
Mrs. Harvey was a lifelong resident of Henderson County. She worked for many years at Athens Federal Savings and Loan, retiring in 1985 as vice president. She was a former member of the Trinity Valley Community College board of trustees. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husbands, James "Corky" Bennett in 1978 and Dr. Tim Harvey in 1999.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Donna Bennett and Martin and Eileen Bennett, all of Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Rick Wilson of Richardson; grandchildren, Emily and Eric Wilson of Richardson; mother, Elva Whittington of Athens; and brothers, C.B. Whittington of Seven Points and Ralph R. Whittington of Athens.
If desired, memorials may be made to Trinity Valley Community College Scholarship Fund, 500 S. Prairieville, Athens, TX 75751.

Gertrude Pugh
Graveside services for Gertrude Pugh, 88, of Gun Barrel City were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Live Oak Cemetery in Brady under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mrs. Pugh died Sept. 21, 2000, in Wills Point.
She was born July 4, 1912, in Iowa to Freeman and Mary Goodpasture Deeming.
Previously of Llano, she lived in Gun Barrel City for nine years. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Ann Donaldson of Gun Barrel City; grandchildren, Thomas Pugh of Taylor and Joe Donaldson of San Marcos; two great-grandchildren; and other family members.

Mark Aaron Taplin
Services for Mark Aaron Taplin, 36, of Athens were held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Palmer officiating.
Burial followed at Athens City Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Mr. Taplin died Sept. 22, 2000, in Austin.
He was born Nov. 30, 1963, in Dallas to Gerald Nathan and Louise Aaron Taplin.
Mr. Taplin was a resident of Athens for 22 years. He was a 1985 graduate of Athens High School.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clyde and Katie Aaron and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Taplin; aunts, Mary Warren and Marge Rainbolt; and uncle, Glen W. Taplin.
Survivors include his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Pam Taplin of Austin; uncles, Richard Rainbolt of Farmers Branch and Jim Warren of Athens; aunt, Bonnie Taplin of Salem, Ore.; nephew, David Taplin of Austin; and three cousins.
Pallbearers were Wiley Waters, Cloyd Thornsberry, Nacho Solis, Earl Smith, Byrl Long, Gary Beard, Elvin Adair and Ben Crocker.
Honorary pallbearers were Huie Landrum and John McAlister.

Fred S. Engel
Services for Fred S. Engel, 80, of Enchanted Oaks are pending with Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mr. Engel died Sept. 25, 2000, in Athens.

Patlonie Reaves Taylor
Services for Patlonie Reaves Taylor, 88, of Seven Points are pending with Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mrs. Taylor died Sept. 24, 2000, in Athens.

Jean Eubank
Jean Eubank, owner of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home and a resident of Mabank since 1945, passed away at a Kaufman hospital after a sudden illness on Oct. 10, 2003, at the age of 83.
She was the widow of R.H. "Bob" Eubank. Her husband was the grandson of Thomas H. Eubank, co-founder of the town of Mabank. She was born Jan. 4, 1920, in Kaufman to Warren Hurley and Claudia Daugherty Jennings.
She was the salutatorian of her 1938 graduating class at Kaufman High School. Jean earned a degree in business administration in 1942 from North Texas State Teachers College, now University of North Texas. She was valedictorian of her Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science class prior to receiving a Texas funeral director's license.
On Feb. 21, 1943, Jean married Bob Eubank and together, they owned and operated for almost 50 years the funeral home founded by Bob's father and uncle in the early 1900s. She was active in civic and community affairs earlier in her life. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Mabank, the Texas Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the Confederacy and Daughters of the Republic of Texas.
Because of her faith, loyalty, integrity and grace, Jean will be greatly missed by her family and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 27, 1992.
She is survived by her son, Robert Eubank Jr., and his wife, Deborah of Mabank; daughter, Barbara Eubank of Mabank; grandchildren, Alesha Eubank of Euless, Sunny Baker and her husband, Jim, of Gun Barrel City and Jennifer Raines of Austin; great-grandchildren, Kristofer Mastin of Euless, Dakota Baker and Sierra Baker, both of Gun Barrel City; brother, Warren Jennings of Kaufman; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at First United Methodist Church in Mabank with Dr. Royce Riley and the Rev. Steve Glosup officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Creek Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 501 S. Third Street, Mabank, TX 75147 or to a charity of choice.

Skylar Dawn Harris
Services for Skylar Dawn Harris, infant, of Trinidad are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Malakoff with Ron Huckabee officiating.
Burial will follow at Malakoff Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Skylar was born and died Oct. 10, 2003, in Dallas.
She is survived by her parents, Shannon and Teresa Harris of Trinidad; siblings, Justin Poteet of Washington, Marc Poteet, Ashley Poteet and Tyler Harris, all of Trinidad; paternal grandparents, David and Sharon Harris of Kemp; maternal grandparents, Jo Ann Jones of Malakoff and Wayne Jones of Sweetwater; and great-grandparents, Horace Harris of Kemp and Mitch and Dot Mitchell of Mabank.

Essie Lou Shelton
Services for Essie Lou Shelton, 84, of Murchison have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Leagueville Cemetery with Micah Meazell and the Rev. Billy Watson officiating, under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Mrs. Shelton was born Aug. 9, 1919, in Richland to the late Rufus Isaih and Minnie Lee Speed Washburn. She passed away Oct. 11, 2003, in an Athens hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie, in 1990; son, Earl Wayne Shelton, in 1950; daughter, Monette Shelton, in 1960; two sisters, Elsie Tullos and Ima Wilson; and grandson, Chad Shelton.
Mrs. Shelton was a member of Leagueville Baptist Church, loved to cook and have family and friends in her home. She was a very gifted seamstress.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Vickie Shelton of Commanche; daughters and sons-in-law, Veda and R.D. Jock of Lafayette, La., and Shelia and Bobby Meazell of Athens; sister, Euneva Frey of Grand Junction, Colo.; grandchildren, Amy Shelton, Justin Shelton, Ricky Jock, Karen Jock, Tony Jock, Marisa Meazell and Micah Meazell; five great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Lucille Jackson of Midland.
Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimers Association, 3613 S. Broadway, Suite 401, Tyler, TX 75701-8732.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Johnie Marie DeFreese
Services for Johnie Marie DeFreese, 82, of Newbury Park, Calif., are pending with Foster & Brown Funeral Home.
Mrs. DeFreese died Oct. 10, 2003, in California.

Dan Murchison Royall
Services for Dan Murchison Royall, 72, of Malakoff are pending with Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Mr. Royall died Oct. 12, 2003, in Athens.
