William Bentley Wood
Graveside services for William Bentley Wood, 73, of Payne Springs are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fincastle Cemetery in Poynor. Services are being held under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Mr. Wood died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, in Athens.
He was born May 1, 1931, in Athens to Bentley B. and Mattie Campbell Wood.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Benny and Joanne Wood and Danny and Susie Wood; sisters, Eloise Powell and Jo McGuire; and brothers, Preston Wood and Junior Wood.
Elizabeth C. Abbott
Services for Elizabeth C. Abbott, 84, of Athens are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Hill Assembly of God Church in the Walton community with the Rev. Odis Munns officiating.
Burial will follow at Chinquapin Cemetery in Van Zandt County under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Mrs. Abbott died Jan. 14, 2001, in Athens.
She was born April 8, 1916, in McLennon County to the late Lester and Gussie Myrtle Hale Bell.
Mrs. Abbott lived in Fort Worth 16 years. She was an assistant librarian at University of Texas in Arlington and taught music at home for 15 years. She moved to Athens in 1980. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Old Bethel Quilting Club and Athens Genealogical Society. She attended Decatur Baptist College and earned her bachelor of arts degree from Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton. She did graduate work at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
Survivors include her husband, L.M. Abbott of Athens; daughters, Ann McLeod of Oceanside, Calif., and Joyce Marie Vanderbeck of Arlington; brother, Harold Bell of Haltom City; grandchildren, J.J. McLeod and Sunny and Christian Vanderbeck; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Richard Abbott, Bill Abbott, Mike Abbott, David Lowry, Dwain Mixon and Grover Mixon.
Family will receive friends form 5-6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Barney "Jacob' Henry
Services for Barney "Jacob" Henry, 20, of Athens were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Dogwood Baptist Church Athens with the Rev. Phil Greenawalt officiating.
Burial followed at Athens City Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.
Mr. Henry died Dec. 29, 2000.
He was born May 29, 1980, in Athens to Walter A. Henry and Wanda L. Smith. He was an honors graduate at Athens High School. He attended the University of Mary Hardin Baylor, where he was a religion major. He enjoyed music and played the trumpet in a Christian band.
Survivors include his mother, Wanda Smith of Athens; father and stepmother, Walter and Gayle Henry of Tatum; sister and brother-in-law, Aubrey and John Hasse of Falls Church, Va.; stepbrothers, Michael Henry of Alaska and David Henry of White Oak; grandparents, Garrett and Barbara Smith of Athens and Catherine Henry of Bois D'Arc; uncles and aunts, Garrett Jr. and Cindy Smith of Huntsville, Ala., John and Dirje Smith of Athens and Richard Henry of Bois D'Arc; and numerous other family members.
Pallbearers were Steven Gunter, Michael Charron, Dan DeHart, Eric Anderson, Tray Bryan and Lee Sanderford.

Joseph Michael McCarthy
Services for Joseph Michael McCarthy, 78, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at St. Edwards Catholic Church with Father Pancras Savarimuthu officiating.
Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington under the direction of Foster & Brown Funeral Home of Athens.
Mr. McCarthy died Jan. 13, 2001, in Athens.
He was born April 9, 1922, in Seminole, Okla.
Previously of Arlington, he was a resident of Athens since 1982. He was employed by General Motors Inc., retiring after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Catholic church.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Joan McCarthy of Athens; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Cathy McCarthy of Arlington; daughter, Mary Jane O'Halloran of Arlington; sister, Margaret Williams of Duncanville; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
J.C. Mize
Private services for J.C. Mize, 74, of Gun Barrel City are scheduled for a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Mr. Mize died Jan. 11, 2001, in Garland.
He was born July 24, 1926, in Palmer to T.O. and Ollie Mormon Mize.
Mr. Mize worked as an automobile salesman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War III. He was a Christian.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Otis Mize, O.B. Mize, Barbara Barker Mize and O'Dell Mize.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Tom Mize and Martha English of Gun Barrel City; and grandson, Thomas Keith Mize of Dallas.
Charles Wayne Potter
Graveside services for Charles Wayne Potter, 82, of Athens were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens with Dr. Robert Tucker officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Mr. Potter died Jan. 13, 2001.
He was born Feb. 5, 1918, in Maryland to John and Edith Williams Potter.
Mr. Potter was a graduate of Wheaton Divinity College in Illinois, where he received a degree in English. He was a chaplain in the U.S. Army from Oct. 4, 1944., to Feb. 28, 1947. He served in Central Europe and Belgium. Mr. Potter was a teacher at many Christian schools, including Central Baptist School in Athens. He and his wife served as missionaries in Mexico, Columbia, French West Indies and Central America. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Agnes Potter of Athens; and friends, James and Dia Anderson of Athens.
Dorrean Watson
Services for Dorrean Watson, 79, of Irving were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Brown's Memorial Funeral Home in Irving.
Burial followed at Oak Grove Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brown's Funeral Home of Irving.
Ms. Watson died Jan. 12, 2001, in Athens. She worked as a child care provider and was active in her church.
She was preceded in death by her son, Roy Lee Osborne; and sister, Johnnie Taylor.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Greg Lindsey of Terrell, Paulette Hershner of Dallas and Dena and Wesley Bonner of Eustace; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sharon Watson of Sachse; sister, Melba Brickey of Irving; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
