Alice Gurganus
Alice Gurganus, 91, a homemaker, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at a Weatherford nursing center.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel Cemetery in Anderson County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom C. Gurganus; her parents; and two brothers, Lawrence Lee and Maury Crist.
Survivors include her children, Doris Rudolph of Peaster, Billy Gurganus of Weatherford, and Mrs. Robert (Jo) McCart of Mansfield; sisters, Dulas Welch of Athens and Beulah Vigne of Aledo; brother, J.C. Crist of Bullard; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruby Lucille Phillips
Services for Ruby Lucille Phillips, 52, of Bristol, Tenn., and formerly of Malakoff are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Payne Springs Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Post Oak Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Mrs. Phillips died Jan. 6, 2005, in Bristol, Tenn.
She was born March 6, 1952, in Independence, Mo.
Juanita Sherman Stalnaker
Funeral services for Juanita Mae Sherman Stalnaker, 81 of Nacogdoches and formerly of Athens will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, located at 901 Mission Ave. in Athens, with the Rev. Mike Dean officiating.
Interment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Cason Monk Metcalf Funeral Directors of Nacogdoches.
Mrs. Stalnaker was born July 12, 1923, in Lubbock.
She died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, in Nacogdoches.
Mrs. Stalnaker was a homemaker and had worked as a clerical administrator for New Era Electric Cooperative in Athens. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 177.
Mrs. Stalnaker was preceded in death by her parents, Joel Bennett Sherman and Gracie Mae Thrasher Sherman; husband, William Douglas Stalnaker; and sister, Charlotte James.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Buddy and Kathi Stalnaker of Nacogdoches; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Sue and Wayne Wilke of Augusta, Ga.; grandson, Paul and his wife, Jennifer Wilke; granddaughters, Sunny Stalnaker of Taiwan, Crystal and husband, Court Perry, of Lufkin, Beth Stalnaker and Jennifer Stalnaker of Nacogdoches; great-grandsons, Maxwell Wilke of Singapore, Cason Perry and Cooper Perry of Lufkin; and sister, Geneva Glider of Athens. She is also survived by two nieces and two nephews.
The family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home as well as one hour before the service in Athens.

J.T. Talent
Memorial services for J.T. Talent, 86, of Corsicana are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel in Corsicana.
Masonic graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery under the direction of Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home of Corsicana.
Mr. Talent died Jan. 10, 2005, in Dallas.
He was born June 11, 1918, in Fountain Hill, Ark., to William and Bunea Owens Talent.
Mr. Talent owned an automobile dealership for many years. He was also the owner of Farmers Fuel in Corsicana.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Talent of Corsicana; daughter, Dorothy Kilgore of Fort Worth; sons, Tommy J. Talent of Merkel and David Talent of Odessa; granddaughter, JoAnn Henchew of Trent; grandsons, John McMenany of Keller and Jason Hamilton of Grandbury; four great-granddaughters; three great-grandsons; sister, Bernice Rainer of Crossett, Ark.; four nephews; and two nieces.
Pallbearers will be Terry Watson, Dan Ingle, James Talent, Mickey Hilock, Dan Pennington, Mike Wallace and Bo Ivie.

Kenneth 'Dugan' Wilson
Memorial services for Kenneth "Dugan" Wilson, 73, of Eustace are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Eustace. He passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, in Dallas.
Mr. Wilson was born on April 15, 1931, to Dell and Ethel Wilson.
He proudly served this country during World War II as an Army Guard Patrolman 522 at Fort Lewis, Washington. He received a victory medal while serving his country and left with an honorable medical discharge on December 31, 1946.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, building hot rods, and telling stories. He was a very generous soul who wanted to make sure that everyone else was taken care of before himself. His most favorite pastime was watching John Wayne movies.
Mr. Wilson is preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth Ray Wilson Jr.; stepfather, Robert Porter; sister, Rosie Elmer Weeks; and brother, Porter Lee Wilson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Barbara Wilson; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and John Douglas of Kaufman, Mary Ann and Pablo Fierros of Dallas and Helen Mae Wilson of Athens; eight adorable grandchildren and one very loved great-grandchild.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Lee Douglas, John David Douglas, Pablo Fierros, Robert Wilson, Pablo Fierros Jr., Christian Fierros and Juan Fierros.
Robert Howard Kirksey

The devoted husband, father and grandfather was born Dec. 6, 1925, in Crockett. He passed away Jan. 3, 2005, in Gun Barrel City.
Survivors are his wife, Doris; son, Robert Lynn Kirksey and his wife, Darlene; sisters, Joyce Dunlap, Pat Velez and Wessie Bickerstaff; and brothers, Glenn Kirksey and Bill Kirksey.
Robert was an avid sportsman and a role model to all that knew him by the Christian life that he led. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gertrude Blakey Mattingly
Services for Gertrude Blakey Mattingly, 88, of Cross Roads were held at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Cross Roads with Frank Upchurch officiating.
Burial followed at Post Oak Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Mrs. Mattingly died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, in Cross Roads.
She was born May 24, 1916, in Mount Vernon to Earl and Pearl Blakey.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Mattingly was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, T.B. Mattingly; and daughter, Mickie Worthy.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Jimmy and Delta Mattingly, Johnny and Kay Mattingly and Linda Hipp, all of Malakoff; son-in-law, John Worthy of Athens; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Eric Lane Gordon
