Russell "Big R' Jones
Russell Jones passed away on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2000, after a long battle with cancer.
He was a graduate of Southern Technical Institute in Marietta, Ga., with a degree in industrial engineering. He also received an MBA from Mississippi State University in Starkville, Miss.
Russell was employed with Lifestream International in The Woodlands, Texas. He was previously a resident of Athens, working as the director of quality assurance for Argon Medical Group.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Don K. Jones. Russell is survived by his wife, Helen Jones, and his loving daughter, Tiffany, both of The Woodlands; his mother, Sara Jones of Toccoa, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews in North Carolina and Georgia.
Russell lived his life to the fullest. His life was full of wonderful friends and his favorite pastime was golf and more golf. May God's greens be kind to you.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial scholarship fund in the name of Miss Tiffany Jones has been established at the First State Bank of Athens, Tyler Street Branch, P.O. Box 2100, Athens, TX, 75751.
Memorial services were held Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, under the direction of Forest Park Funeral Home in The Woodlands.
Robert Drew
Services for Robert Drew, 84, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Foster and Brown Chapel with Mike Gibbs officiating.
Mr. Drew died May 22, 2000, in Athens.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday night at the funeral home.
Floy "Boots' McShan Luce
Services for Floy "Boots" McShan Luce, 87, of Tool are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank with Wade Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow at Mankin Cemetery in Henderson County under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mrs. Luce died May 21, 2000, in Athens.
She was born Aug. 16, 1912, in Malakoff to Ira Dell and Thomas Edna Skiles McShan.
Previously of Dallas and Mabank, Mrs. Luce lived in Tool for 20 years and was Primitive Baptist. She was a 1931 graduate of Mabank High School, a graduate of East Texas State Teachers College and received her masters degree from Southern Methodist University. Mrs. Luce retired from Dallas Independent School District in 1972 and was a member of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Luce was preceded in death by her husband, Neel M. Luce, on June 11, 1998.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Maridelle Luce and James Cooksey of Tool; sisters, Charlotte Scott Cotton of Mabank and Marselle Stegall of Mabank; grandchildren, Andrew Cooksey of Coppell and Melanie Hutchinson of Garland; four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Rosie Lee Morman
Services for Rosie Lee Morman, 75, of Springfield, Mo., were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank with the Rev. Steve Pratt officiating.
Burial followed at Concord Cemetery in Chandler under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mrs. Morman died May 19, 2000, in Springfield, Mo.
She was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Waco to H.K. and Sally Belle Peters Headen.
Previously of Mabank, she lived in Springfield, Mo., for 12 years and was Pentecostal.
Mrs. Morman was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Morman; and sons, Curtis Wayne Morman and Jimmie Lee Morman.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Deloras Morman of Mabank, Eddie and Marianne Morman of Bridgeport, Stanley and Waynette Morman of Canton and "Little John" and Debbie Morman of Chico; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Howard Tummons of Springfield, Mo.; 23 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and many other family members and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Jerry Morman, Eddie Morman, Stanley Morman, Little John Morman, Jerry Ray Morman and Adraian Morman.
Mabel Ryan
Sevices for Mabel Ryan, 85, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Foster and Brown Chapel with the Rev. Harold Moya officiating.
Burial will follow at Athens City Cemetery under the direction of Foster and Brown Funeral Home of Athens.
Mrs. Ryan died May 21, 2000, in Athens.
She was born July 26, 1914, in Warren, Ariz. to Edward and Zula Sloan Martin.
Mrs Ryan was a homemaker and a baptist by faith. She was a resident of Henderson County for 14 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Jack Hollie Ryan, in 1979.
Survivors include her sons, Jack Edward Ryan of Eden, Wyo., and David Gene Ryan of Green River, Wyo.; daughters, Nancy Lousie Ryan of Athens and Bonnie Sue Englehart of Athens; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will include Jason Inglehart, Ron Ryan, Robert Ryan, Jack Ritter, Rowdy Praytor, and Royce Praytor.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Christine Marlow
Services for Christine Marlow are pending with Tomlinson Funeral Home of Malakoff.
Mrs. Marlow died May 22, 2000, in Corsicana.
Ervin S. "Sammy' Holley
Services for Ervin S. "Sammy" Holley, 41, of Shady Oaks are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Blessings Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield.
Burial will follow at Rendon Cemetery in Rendon under the diredtion of Blessing Funeral Home of Mansfield.
Mr. Holley died Aug. 10, 2000, in Shady Oaks.
He was born June 1, 1959, to Sam Holley and Frances Chavez. He was a plumber.
Survivors include parents; daughters, Jennifer, Chrystal and Patricia Jo; and four great-granddaughters.
A wake is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the the funeral home.
Lillie Mae Johnson
Services for Lillie Mae Johnson, 79, of Athens are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Providence Baptist Church with the Revs. Jason Scruggs, Archie Hicks and Clyde Chitlon Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow at North Athens Cemetery under the direction of Garrett & Tucker Funeral Directors of Athens.
Mrs. Johnson died Aug. 12, 2000, in Athens.
She was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Frankston to Eli and Annie Alice Gaston Scruggs.
Mrs. Johnson attended school in Frankston and was a member of Mt. Providence Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Mary Johnson of Corsicana, Jimmy Lee Johnson of Athens and Calvin "Monique" Nixon of Athens; sisters, Alice Chilton of Athens and Lela Mae Crear of San Bernardino, Calif.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four godchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be William Brookins, Charles Rose, Roy Henry Fillmore, Clyde Henderson, Lawrence Polk and Freddie Paul.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roderick Johnson, Frederic "Snoopy" Paul, Wesley Johnson, Anthony Chilton, Tracy Johnson and Clyde Chilton Jr.
