Bobby D. Smith
Mr. Smith died Jan. 16, 1999, in Groves at the Oakgrove Nursing Home.
He was born May 27, 1937, in Mt. Pleasant to the late John W. and Julia Charlene Kelley Smith. He was a resident of the Nederland area for the past 20 years. Mr. Smith was retired from the trucking industry as a terminal manager and also was a retired country and western musician. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Nederland.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Smith, in 1995.
Mr. Smith is survived by his daughter, Donna Charlene Bagwell of Houston; sons, Bobby Dwayne Smith Jr. of Houston, Marvin Douglas Smith of Colorado Springs, Colo., Darren Ray Smith of Dallas; brother, John W. Smith, Jr. of Salisbury, Md.; sisters, Viola Turner of Jasper, Margie Sue Moore of Silsbee, Syble Smith of Center; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home between 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Charley Stephens
Services for Charlie Stephens, 96, of Athens are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Zion Hill Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Odis Munns, the Rev. J.W. Thompson and the Rev. D. G. Council officiating.
Burial will be at Zion Hill Cemetery in Van Zandt County under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Canton.
Mr. Stephens died Jan. 17,1999, in Athens after a long illness.
He was born Oct. 9, 1902, in the Walton Community to John and Willie Frances Farmer Stephens. Mr. Stephens was known as "Uncle Charley." He was a lifelong resident in the Walton Community and served as trustee of Walton School. He was a member of the Zion Hill Assembly of God Church where he was the song leader for many years. He served as trustee in the church for a number of years. Mr. Stephens was a devoted Christian and served the Lord from an early age. Mr. Stephens was respected by all who knew him. He served as care taker of Zion Hill Cemetery for more than 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Birtie Lee Hardy; his second wife, Mary Lou Autry; and two sons, Garland Stephens and Raymond Stephens.
Mr. Stephens is survived by a daughter, Corene Bateman of kaufman; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Danny Bateman, Mike Stephens, Jeff Munns, Randy Bateman, Jimmy Mitchell and Marvin Cates.
Honorary pallbearers are Joey Foster and Rhett Skiles.
Family visitation will be Tuesday between 6-8 p.m. at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.
Julia Castoria
Memorial services for Julia Castoria, 77, of Athens are pending.
Mrs. Castoria died Jan. 18, 1999, at East Texas Medical Center Athens.
She was born Sept. 6, 1921, in Burleson County. Mrs. Castoria had been a resident of Park Highland Nursing Home for the past four years.
Mrs. Castoria is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Dr. John M. Morton of Athens.
Julia Campise-Castoria
Services for Julia Campise-Castoria, 77, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church in Bryan with the Rev. Msgr. John Malinowski officiating.
Rosary is scheduled for 5 p.m. Thursday at the Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan.
Mrs. Castoria died Monday, Jan. 18, 1999, at East Texas Medical Center following a long illness.
She was born Sept. 6, 1921, in Burleson County to Paul Campise and Virginia Pry Campise. She had been a resident of Park Highland Nursing Home for four years.
She was preceded in death by a son, Camello Castoria, and her husband, Jake Castoria.
Mrs. Castoria is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Catherine Crutchfield of Houston and Ginger and Dr. John M. Morton of Athens; two sons, Paul Castoria and Camello "Bubba" Castoria of Bryan; sister, Gracie Campise of Bryan and Lula Campise-Wheatherly of College Station; nine grandchildren, including Janet Morton of San Marcos and Melinda Castoria of Bryan; and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Tommy Crutchfield of Norfolk, Va., James Austin Crutchfield of Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Gaylon Crutchfield of Cypress, Jason Castoria of Waco and Michael, James and Jesse Morton of Athens.

Carol Joan Nichols
Services for Carol Joan Nichols, 64, of Mabank are pending with Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mrs. Nichols died Jan. 19, 1999, in Mabank.
Ruth Huffman Jones
Services for Ruth Huffman Jones, 81, of Athens and formerly of Anderson County are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Judson Baptist Church in Cayuga with the Rev. Dale Norris officiating.
Burial will be at Judson Cemetery under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home of Athens.
Mrs. Jones died Jan. 20, 1999, in Tyler at East Texas Medical Center.
She was born March 6, 1917, in Palestine to the late B.S. and Carrie Grasier Huffman. Mrs. Jones resided in Anderson County until 1960 where she lived in the Harmony community and in Cayuga. After residing in Winnsboro for 10 years, Mrs. Jones moved to Athens in 1970 and she was a member of First Baptist Church. She was formerly employed at Hollywood Vassarette and Henderson County Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin A. Jones, in 1969 and a son, H.A. Jones, in 1965.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Loyd and Nancy Jones of Tyler; sister, Hallie McKenzie of Palestine; grandchildren, Donna Quebedeaux, Darryl Jones, David Jones and Ryan Jones; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will include Hal Johnson, Dwane Sellers, Jim Duncan, E.L. Kirk, Forrest Jackson and Larry Drennan.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home between 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Thomas Lee Dawson
Wake services for Thomas Lee Dawson, 44, of Corsicana are scheduled for 7-8 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Malakoff.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Henry Stafford officiating.
Burial will be at Steen Cemetery in Malakoff under the direction of Ross and Johnson Mortuary.
Mr. Dawson died Jan. 18, 1999, at Columbia Navarro Regional Hospital.
He was born Nov. 3, 1954 in Malakoff.
Mr. Dawson is survived by his wife, Rosemary Sumley Dawson; daughter, Arrecia Walker of Malakoff; three grandsons; mother, Catherine Smith Dawson of Malakoff; two brothers, John L. Brown of Ft. Worth and Vernon Wiley of Athens; three sisters, Patsy Smith of Kerens, Linda Wiley Brown of Trinidad and Ruby Stewart of Athens; and devoted and faithful friend, Ora Hymon of Corsicana.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Foy Lee Garrett
Memorial services for Foy Lee Garrett, 86, of Tool will be scheduled by the family at a later date.
Burial will be in Corsicana under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Mr. Garrett died Jan. 21, 1999, in Athens.
He was born Sept. 24, 1912 in Paris to Lee Roy and Eula Garrett. Mr. Garrett had resided in Corsicana since 1946 and moved to the Cedar Creek area in 1991. He was a member of the Cedar Creek Lake United Methodist Church in Tool and of the Lions Club and Masonic Lodge. He married Evelyn Schneider in 1991 in Tool.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie, in 1989.
Mr. Garrett is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Tool; son, Randall Lee Garrett of Chapel Hill; stepsons, Robert Keene of Kingwood and Stephen Keene of Port Neches; stepdaughter, Laura Henson of Ft. Worth; sister Geraldene Rothchild of Bend, Oregon; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and five stepgrandchildren.
