David Michael Bass
David Michael Bass, age 66, died suddenly Sunday morning, November 19, 2017 at the hospital in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
David was born May 23, 1951 in Corsicana, Texas, and spent most of his life in East Texas.
He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany and Korea.
He became a truck driver and expert diesel mechanic.
David was married to Sandy Hardin and they had 3 children: David, Jr., Melissa, and Danny.
Davy preceded him in death.
He is survived in Sulphur Springs, by his brother, Al, and sister-in-law, Hillis.
David was a loving, kind, thoughtful, and considerate man who loved the Lord and always would give you one of his smiles or the shirt off his back.
The family thanks Terrific Tuesdays for their help this past year – David really looked forward to going there.
He also loved his Aggies. Gig-Em!
A Celebration of David will be held Saturday, December 30 at 1pm at the home he shared with his brother.
Rose Evelyn Golden
Funeral services for Rose Evelyn Golden, 87, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 9, 2017 at East Caney Baptist Church with Rev. Cordell Jackson officiating.
Interment will follow at East Caney Cemetery with Dennis Nash, Aubrey Nash, Kenneth Cork Jr., Chudney Beard, Britt Greer, and Eric Johnson serving as pallbearers.
There will be no formal visitation.
Evelyn passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Sunny Springs Health and Rehab.
She was born on January 27, 1930 in the East Caney Community of Hopkins County, the daughter of Lank and Leona Lee Harrison.
She married Homer Ray Golden; he preceded her in death in 1982.
She worked as a cook at various restaurants from Kansas and Texas.
She was a member of Morning Chapel MCBC.
She is survived by daughters, Anita Golden, Merita Wade, both of Sulphur Springs, brother, Archer Ben Harrison of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Danny Wade Jr, Jacqueline Jackson, Adrian Golden, Tina Wade, Patrick Golden, Ebony Wade, LaQuanta Mass, 22 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she is also preceded in death by her parents, six children, brother, Cleon Harrison, and sisters, Katie Ford, Lennis Garrett, Charlene Wright, Johnnie Gibson, Mary White, Fayola Harrison.
Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
Quinn Stanford
Mr. Quinn Stanford, age 43, of Scroggins, passed away on Saturday, November 18th, 2017 in Tyler.
He lost a quick battle with a horrible cancer.
He was born on April 26th, 1974 in Clayton County, Georgia, to Virgil and Barbara Stanford.
He was a railroad conductor for Union Pacific and broiler farmer for Pilgrims Pride.
He was a Mason and member of Smyrna Baptist Church.
He graduated from Elysian Fields High School in 1992 as the President of his class.
He graduated from Stephen F. Austin University in 1996 with a BS in Animal Science.
He is survived by his wife of eighteen years, Tree (Erika) Stanford of Scroggins, son, Dalton Stanford; daughter Jordan Stanford both of Scroggins; parents, Buddy and Barbara Stanford of Pittsburg; sisters, Ronza Fouch with Wayne and Austin Rogers of Wilmington, Ohio, Makala Burrow and her husband Rodney of Pittsburg; and their daughters, Marandy, Sadie, Sarah, Melody and Carolina, grandmother, Dorothy Lee Stanford of Americus, GA, mother and father-in-law, Jim and Cindy Larned of Paradise, TX; mother-in-law, Joy Larned of Haslet, Texas, and brother-in-law, Brad Larned also of Haslet, as well as many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Quinn was foremost a family man.
He strived to be the best husband and father he could be.
He was his family’s best friend.
Though Quinn was a jack-of-all-trades and excelled at everything he did: from welding ranching, farming, rigging, fishing, hunting, conducting a train and multiple other things.
He would most want to be remembered as a family man who loved unconditionally, and that he became and will always be the best father to his children and the most beloved husband to his wife.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 21st, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro, 816 W. Broadway, Winnsboro, TX 75494.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017 at Beaty Funeral Home-Winnsboro at 11:00 am, Rev. David Hendricks conducting.
Interment will follow at Clearwater Cemetery in Scroggins.
Billy Martin Emerson
Funeral service for Billy Martin Emerson, age 56, of Sulphur Bluff, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Rhoades officiating.
Interment will follow at Sulphur Bluff Cemetery with Kirk Reams, Matt Smith, Lance Smith, Daniel Shackleford, and Jared Smith serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 4, 2017 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Mr. Emerson, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017, at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, TX.
Billy Martin Emerson was born on July 1, 1961 in Sulphur Springs, to L. Roy and Nancy Lee (Rawlinson) Emerson.
Billy was the manager of the North Hopkins Water Department, a member of the Sulphur Bluff Baptist Church, secretary of the Sulphur Bluff Volunteer Fire Department, on the Sulphur Bluff School Board, and co-owned Bear Country Store in Sulphur Bluff, with Brad Cecil.
He is survived by his mother, Nancy Emerson; sisters, Donna McDaniel and husband Les of Brookston, TX, and Nancy Ann Schultz and husband Chuck; and brother Roy Wayne Emerson and wife Dianne.
Billy was preceded in death by his father; and brothers, Larry and Jerry Emerson.
Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Michael Brady Barrett
Memorial service for Michael Brady Barrett, age 67, of Sulphur Springs, will be held in Spence Chapel, First Baptist Church on Monday, September 4, 2017.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at 10:00 AM.
Rev. Fred Randles will officiate the service at 11:00 AM.
Michael died at his home from complications due to long-term chronic ulcerative colitis.
Mike was born on November 30, 1949 in Sulphur Springs, the son of Willie B.A. Barrett and Gertrude Edwards Barrett.
He graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1968.
He received a degree from East Texas State University in Agriculture-Business in 1972.
Mike married his High School sweetheart, Debra Kay Sanders, on June 19, 1971 in Spence Chapel, First Baptist Church where Mike was a life-long member.
They celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Mike worked for Texas Farm Bureau for 44 years as a Senior Field Representative.
During his tenure, Mike forged lasting relationships with farmers and ranchers across Texas.
He became an honorary member of the Hopkins County TFB Board after his retirement on July 1, 2016.
Mike always had a genuine love and concern for the farming and ranching community.
Mike coached girls softball and basketball for many years.
He was a High School football referee for twenty-plus years and he also served on the Hopkins County Tax Appraisal Board.
Mike had many life-long, wonderful caring friends.
He loved to play golf and spent many a day on the links with his golfing buddies Joe Mack Gober, Mark Rorie, Charlie Johnston and Tony Flippin. He loved to talk politics and had a passion for discussing current events.
Mike is survived by his faithful wife Debbie and beloved daughter Sara Anne.
He is also survived by his sister, Kathy Barrett Hutt of Allen. Brother and sister in-laws include Norman and Kathy Sanders and Steve and Diana Longino. He dearly loved his nieces and nephews Will and Meredith Longino, Travis and Chantel Longino, Walt and Jessica Gamblin, Josh Sanders, Lauren Vaut and Ryan and Jenna Hutt.
A constant source of joy were his great-nieces and nephews Cash, Sam and Bella Gamblin, Emma Longino, Jackson and Micah Longino, Cole and Jase Vaut and Neilee Hutt.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Willie B. A. Barrett and Gertrude Barrett, special friend and fellow TFB Field Rep Pete Gibson, hunting and fishing pal Buddy Funderburk, and life-long friends Stephen Bonner and Mark Rorie and his sweet canine companion, Molly B.
Pallbearers include his nephews Will Longino, Travis Longino, Josh Sanders, Walt Gamblin, Ryan Hutt and Andrew Landkammer of Austin.
Memorials may be made to City Cemetery, P.O. Box 651, Sulphur Springs, Texas 75482.

Gloria Huddleston
Funeral service for Gloria Huddleston, age 80, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Spence Chapel, First Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs, with Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.
Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery with Bryson Barnes, Brandon Barnes, Trent Petty, Trey Petty, Angel Cabrera and Carlos Ruiz serving as pallbearers and Michael Huddleston serving as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Spence Chapel.
Mrs. Huddleston, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017, at CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs.
Gloria Mae “MeMe” (Petty) Huddleston was born on January 26, 1937 in Pettit, Texas, to Troy Otto and Eva Mae (Holmes) Petty.
She married William Thomas “W.T.” Huddleston on August 20, 1960, in Levelland, Texas.
Gloria was a retired teacher and a member of First Baptist Church, Sulphur Springs.
She is survived by her husband, W.T.; daughter, Tracy Barnes and husband, Roger; grandchildren, Bryson and Brandon Barnes; twin brother, Olen Petty; nephews, Trent Petty, Trey Petty, Michael Huddleston, Terry Petty and Larry Petty; niece, Melanie Boyd; great-niece, Angela Hall.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Sonia Eve Huddleston; brothers, Gyn Petty and Troy Ira Petty.

Betty Mayes Bassham
Funeral services for Betty Mayes Bassham, age 72, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Newsom officiating.
Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Joe Hooten, Don Patterson, David Ragan, Justin Davidson, Benny Johnson, and Kenneth Fox serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dave Davidson, Roger Maynard, Michael Rogers, Butch Adams, and Larry Vandiver.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Betty passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab.
Betty was born on August 11, 1946 in Greenville, TX, to Oscar Avery Mayes and Lynda Record Mayes.
She married Bill Bassham on February 14, 1997 in Sulphur Springs, and he survives.
Betty worked for Hopkins County, for 19 years, as an Administrative Assistant from 1977 – 1987 and Treasurer from 1987 – 2006.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by sons, Scott Steele of Flint, Bill Bassham, Jr. and wife Cherie of Richardson, and Brett Bassham of Thornton, daughter, Stacy McMinn and husband Mike of Sulphur Springs, sisters, Glinda Felty and husband Larry of Waxahachie, Susan Ducos and husband Frank of Burkburnett. Grandchildren, Coby Steele and wife Libby, Cortni Steele and fiance Garrett Swatsell, Jaci Davis, Brooke Daniel and husband John, Ryan Bassham and wife Marissa, Mikayla Davis, and Cassidy Davis, great-grandchildren, Wyatt Swatsell, Zoe and Cora Bassham, and Nora Daniel.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

Frances Grace Francis
Memorial service for Frances Grace Francis, age 76, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Pastor Steve Cook officiating.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., prior to service time.
Fran passed away on Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Carriage House Manor.
She was born on March 1, 1942, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Joseph and Beverly Denver Rizzo.
She was a homemaker and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
She married Arthur Francis on November 28, 1980 in Pickton, TX.
He preceded her in death on November 30, 2017.
Fran is survived by sons, Richard James Francis and wife Janeen, Frank Samuel Francis and wife Faith, daughter, Kathie Marlin and husband John, grandchildren, Lisa Marlin, Amanda Marlin, Tyler Wayne Francis, McKenzie Francis, Frankie Francis, Tyler Kimbro, Kendal Kimbro, and great-grandchildren, Ava Marlin, Maddox James Francis, Addilyn Grace Francis, and Jaxsyn Wayne Francis.
In addition to her husband, Fran was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

Shawn Carl White
Shawn Carl White, age 71, of Alba, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018.
Shawn suffered a heart attack on Aug. 10, 2018, and had remained in UT Health East Texas in Tyler, since then.
He was born in Norfolk, VA, Aug. 11, 1947, to the parentage of Bernard Carl and Bonnie Arthula Hoffman White.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He married Jonni Mae Waters in River Oaks, TX on May 8, 1976.
During Shawn’s working career, he worked as an engineer technician with Lockheed-Martin Aircraft.
He was a Christian.
Survivors include:

Sisters: Cheri Etchegoyan of Fresno, CA; and,
Nicole Reivsamen of Beliez
Numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by: Parents; Son, Brandon White in 2015;

Archie “Wayne” Coursey
Archie “Wayne” Coursey was called home on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at his home in Quinlan, TX.
Wayne was born on September 23, 1942 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Archie and Helen Coursey.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on August 26, 1960 and served his country for 6 years; to include service with the 8th Marine Corps District, Casual Company in Viet Nam.
During his service he received two expert firearm badges and two medals for good conduct.
He was awarded an Honorable Discharge on August 25, 1966.
He was proceeded in death by parents Helen Ruth Grass and Archie and Ruby Coursey.
He is survived by son, Cody Alan Coursey and wife, Michelle of Trenton, TX; daughter, Heather Dawn Coursey of Sulphur Springs, TX; daughter, Holly Brianne Lavinder and husband, Lee of Weatherford, TX; and son, Ryan Wayne Coursey and wife, Christi of Royce City, TX.
11 Grandchildren: Tiffany, Courtney, Brittany, Chandi, Grant, James Alfred, Gabriel, Tatum, Laramie, Landon and Lainey and 7 great-grandchildren.
3 Sisters; Mary Barber and husband, Bob of Alamorgordo, NM; Kay Faulks and husband, Weldon of Sulphur Springs, TX; and Laveda Cavanaugh of Albuquerque, NM.
3 Brothers; W.M. Wallace and wife, Deborah of Florida; Bobby Forman of Mineral Wells, TX; and John Dewberry.
He loved his family and friends.
He enjoyed watching movies, going to flea markets, telling old stories and having a good laugh.
He was a great father and friend. We love you Dad!
