Funeral services for Larry Joe Hodnett, 61, of Sulphur Springs, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Fred Lewis and Rev. Jimmy Gulledge officiating.

Funeral services for Ernest Bunch, 78, of Brashear, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 at Brashear Baptist Church with the Revs. Irby Barber and David Burns officiating.

Ruth Mae Harris Lanier
Funeral Services for Ruth Mae Harris Lanier, 83, of Chesapeake, Va., formerly of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Johnny Martin officiating.

Joe Johnson
Funeral services for Joe Johnson, 56, of Rockwall, will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 6, 2007 at Rest Haven Funeral Home – Rockwall Chapel.

Darrel Decker
A graveside service for Darrel Decker, 55, of Dike, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3, 2007 in Conner Cemetery with Dr. Cecil McCloud officiating.

Matthew Jason Hudson
Funeral services for Matthew Jason Hudson, 38, of Wylie, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2007 in Beaty Funeral Home Chapel in Winnsboro.

L.J. 'Sonny' Coker
Funeral services for L.J. "Sonny" Coker, 69, of Pattonville, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2004 at New County Line Baptist Church with Rev. Burlyn Allison officiating.
Military graveside services with military honors accorded by Hopkins County Military Coalition followed in Yantis Cemetery with Joshua Houser, Kendall Fortner, Kyle Campbell, Scott Pittman, John Fortner and Justin Holland serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Coker died at 2:40 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 2004 at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
He was born on Nov. 16, 1934, in Yantis, to Bud and Odessie Rushing Coker.
He married Marilyn Lucile Suggitt in Stevenson, Wash., on March 2, 1956. She survives.
Mr. Coker retired from the United States Navy.
After his retirement, he was employed by Richardson TSD Warehouse.
He was a member of the Baptist faith.
Other survivors include one son, Joe Coker of Lewisville; three daughters, Rhonda Fortner of Rowlett, Angela Barker of Houston and Tracy Beissel of Coppell; two brothers, Merrell Coker of Sulphur Springs, and Joe Coker of Killeen; two sisters, Lola Hughes of Sulphur Springs, and Madeline Wilson of Yantis; grandchildren, Joshua Houser, Kyle Campbell, John Fortner, Kendall Fortner, Elijah Beissel, Brandy Chalk, Amber Koffel, Kami Campbell, Mariah Beissel; great-grandchildren, Sydney Chalk, Travis Fortner and Chase Fortner.
Mr. Coker was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Reed Lee Coker and L.D. Coker.

Hester Pilcher
Funeral services for Hester Pilcher, age 87, of Sulphur Springs, were conducted at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2005, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home chapel, with Brother Tommy Hall officiating.
Interment followed at Perryville Cemetery, with Pete Rose, Richard Rose, Marshall Rose, Reg Robertson, Don Bailey, Rex Hester and Jamie Pilcher serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were Cloddie Henson, Ted Hester, J.R. Long and the employees of Sulphur Springs, Health and Rehab.
Hester Pilcher passed away at 10:45 a.m., Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehab.
She was born in Perryville, on October 27, 1917, the daughter of Marshall and Lizzie Hester Fargason.
She married Preston (Pete) Pilcher in Perryville, in 1941.
He preceded her in death in 1974.
She was a homemaker and a retired Cannon Craft employee.
She was a member of the Davis Street Baptist Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Jimmy Pilcher and his wife, Pat, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jerry Pilcher and his wife, Judy, of Sulphur Springs, daughter-in-law, Cheryl Pilcher of Kilgore; two sisters, Ruth Harrison of Fort Worth, Gail Robertson and her husband, Reg, of Marshall, sister-in-law, Margaret Fargason of Hampshire; five grandsons, Jamie Pilcher, Christopher Pilcher. Both of Cincinnati, Ohio, Pete Rose of Greenville; Richard Rose, Marshall Rose, both of Dallas; three granddaughters, Amy House of Mt. Pleasant, Cherrie Bolden, Cheneoa Bolden, both of Sulphur Springs; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special niece, Peggy Rawls.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Carol Rose; son, Roy Pilcher and brother, Bill Fargason.
Memorials may be made to the Perryville Cemetery Fund.

Junior Rushin
Funeral services for Junior Rushin, 77, of Edgewood, formerly of Hopkins County, were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2004 at West Oaks Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Ballard officiating.
Burial followed in Shooks Chapel Cemetery with Joe Cagle, Charlie Beaty, Jr., Andrew Beaty, Kenneth Dennis, Archie Burnett, Christopher Merchants and Gerald Burnett serving as pallbearers.
Mr. Rushin died at East Texas Medical Center in Tyler, on Friday, Aug. 13, 2004.
He was born on June 30, 1927, in Lamesa, the son of Andy and Lilly Combs Rushin.
He married Ruth King McLean on Nov. 19, 1966, in Dallas. She survives.
Mr. Rushin was a retired truck driver for a furniture company and later for Strickland Transport.
He raised cattle on his farm for nearly 33 years.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one son, James Rushin of Tulsa, Okla.; three daughters, Linda Rushin and Lana Dennis, both of Canton, and Elizabeth Beaty of Allen; one brother, David Rushin of Edgewood; one sister, Dorothy Cagle of Tyler; seven grandchildren, Charles Beaty, Jr., Amber Beaty, Andrew Beaty, Jerrid Rushin, Michelle Merchants, Kenneth Dennis and Monique Cooper; and four great-grandchildren, Christopher Merchants, Candace Merchants, Carson Cooper and Caroline Cooper.
Mr. Rushin was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Otis, Loyd, Henry and Nolan Rushin; and three sisters, Mary Callahan, Alice Burnett and Bobbie Sue Campbell.

Laverne Lanier
A graveside service for Laverne Lanier, 83, of Sulphur Springs, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2005 in Restlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.
Mrs. Lanier died Saturday, June 11, 2005 in Fort Worth.
She was born in Fannin County, on April 6, 1922, the only daughter of Oliver and Inez Chapman Darling.
She married Raymon Bledsoe.
He preceded her in death after more than 22 years of marriage.
She later married R. Louis Lanier.
He preceded her in death following 30 years of marriage.
Mrs. Lanier grew up on a farm during the 1930s, learning from her parents.
She was an avid seamstress, making all of her clothes.
At age 19, she moved to Texarkana, to find work.
She and her first husband were restaurant and grocery store owners in Texarkana.
She was a homemaker. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church, where she participated in the bus ministry for senior ladies.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Lawson; two stepchildren, Sondra Lanier and Paula Hanger; three grandchildren, Janet McLain, Diahanna Harrison and David Lawson; four step-grandchildren, Josh, Jodi, John Paul and Julieanne; and four great-grandchildren, Jessica, Julie Anne, Tyler and Ashley.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, E.J., Walter, O.M. and David.
Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Emma May Simmons
Funeral services for Emma May Simmons, 77, of Dike, were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2005 at West Oaks Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, with Melvin Joslin and Buddy McMahan officiating.
Burial followed in Tira Cemetery with Mason Littrell, Dalton Littrell, Zack Lucas, Zane Lucas, C.J. Worthy, Michael Slaton and Cody Clawson serving as pallbearers.
Ronny Joslin, Dean Brandenburgh, Broc Hohenberger, Aaron Hohenberger, Cade Hohenberger and Greg Joslin were honorary pallbearers.
Emma May Simmons died at 1 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2005 at her residence, which is located south of Dike.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1928, in Deer Lake, Newfoundland, the daughter of Stanley Bennett and Dinah Mariah Rose Tulk.
She was known for her cooking abilities by the many who visited her home.
She was an avid quilter and gardener.
She was noted to have learned to drive as an adult, and to have assisted in raising her younger siblings, beginning when she was 9 years old at the death of her mother.
She was under the care of Hopkins County Hospice at the time of her death.
Survivors include her stepmother, Ella Mae Major Tulk; five sons, Bobby Joslin, Frank Joslin, Kevin Joslin, Mike Merry and Tony Merry; one daughter, Diana Hohenberger; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one granddaughter, one grandson, three brothers and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to Hopkins County Hospice.
