Alma McIllwain Preas
A memorial service for Alma McIllwain Preas, 94, of Houston, formerly of Hopkins County, will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2006 at Mahoney Cemetery with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating.
Alma Preas died on Friday, August 4, 2006.
Alma was born Alma McIllwain in Sulphur Springs, Texas, on February 12, 1912.
She was preceded in death by her immediate McIllwain family, father, William Henry; mother, Ada; sister, Ruby Benedict, and brothers, Noble and William.
During her life, Alma had the honor of being married to loving husbands, Leo T. Weaver of Cloudcroft, New Mexico (deceased) and later to Eldon Preas, of Paris, Texas (deceased).
Alma is survived by her seven children, Mary, Lois, Lynn, Margie, Alma, Irene, Isaac, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Alma lived some of the later years of her life in El Paso, Texas, at Chai Manor followed by The Regency where she loved tending to the flowers.
Alma was a strong pioneer woman and at 93 years of age, with the excellent, caring Doctors and Staff at Houston's MD Anderson, courageously won the battle against cancer.
She recovered at her home at Park Manor Nursing Home in Humble, Texas, where she was loved and cared for like one of the family by the exceptional Management and Staff.
Mama, we love you and will miss our Yellow Rose of Texas, but know we will be together again in Heaven.

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Michael Chadwick 'Chad' Lloyd
Funeral services for United States Army Staff Sergeant Michael 'Chad' Lloyd, age 24, of Ft. Hood - Killeen, Texas, will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2006, at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas, with Dr. Bob McCartney officiating.
Burial will follow at the Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be held Saturday, August 19, 2006, at West Oaks Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Staff Sergeant Lloyd lost his life while serving his second tour of duty in Baghdad, Iraq on Saturday, August 12, 2006.
Staff Sergeant Lloyd had served in the United States Army for six years.
He was a Senior Scout in the 10th Calvary, 4th Infantry Division.
Chad, as he was called by his loving family, was born on May 22, 1982, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of James 'Jimmy' M. Lloyd and Margaret Virginia Jordan Lloyd.
He married Jessica Rita Sain on November 14, 2000, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She survives.
Mr. Lloyd attended grade school in Aurora, Colorado, and Middle and High School in Corpus Christi, Texas.
While in high school, he was an avid soccer player.
After high school, he joined the United States Army on January 1, 2000, and was stationed at Ft. Hood-Killeen, Texas.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sergeant Jessica Lloyd, and son, J.T. of Killeen, Texas; mother, Margaret Lloyd of Corpus Christi; father, Jimmy Lloyd and wife Dena of Sulphur Springs, Texas; father-in-law, Jimmy Sain of Corpus Christi; mother-in-law, Rita Vidaurri and husband Tommy of Corpus Christi; sister, Amber Davisson and husband Dustin and nephew Austin of Quinlan, Texas, and Marsha Neeb and husband Captain Joel Neeb and nephew, J.J. of Mountain Home, Idaho; brothers, Jordan Lloyd of Corpus Christi, and Kyle Meeks and wife Sunny of Trophy Club, Texas; sister-in-law Kayt Sain of Corpus Christi, currently stationed in Germany; grandparents, Richard and Ann Jordan of Farmersville, Texas; step-grandparents, Red and Ima Jean Phillips of New Deal, Texas; Aunt Linda Moore and husband Sunny of Sulphur Springs; Aunt Gwen Van Braumen and husband Martin of Plano; Aunt Gerry Jackson of Cedar Hill, Texas; Aunt Ellen Cox and husband Benjee of Farmersville; Uncle Jamie Jordan and wife Johnna of Wylie; Aunt Allyson Hansen and husband Chris of Coppell, Texas; Aunt Terri Conrad of Gilbert, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gambrell and Francis Lloyd of Sulphur Springs.
A scholarship fund for Staff Sergeant Lloyd's 4-year-old son, J.T. has been set up.

Jerry Goldsmith
Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Goldsmith, age 66, of Reno, Texas, will be held on Monday, August 21, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at West Oaks Funeral in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
Burial will be held at City Cemetery with Danny Goldsmith, Jeff Goldsmith, Jason Goldsmith, Jeremy Goldsmith, Ned Ball, and Don Culpeper serving as pallbearers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be W.D. Scott, Niki Ballard, Curtis Coleman, Don Faulkner, Joe Orr, Charles Ball, Don Horner and members of the Delta Country Club.
Visitation will be held at West Oaks Funeral Home on Sunday, August 20, 2006 from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M.
Mr. Goldsmith passed away on Friday, August 18, 2006 in Paris, Texas.
Jerry was born August 20, 1939 in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to James Ernest Goldsmith and Dollie Mae Goldsmith.
He married Nita Dunbar on July 25, 2003 in Sulphur Springs, Texas and she survives.
He was a graduate of Sulphur Springs, High School, while in school, he played football.
Mr. Goldsmith was retired from TXDOT after 30 years of service.
He had a special love for Quail hunting.
He was a member of the Delta County Country Club, and in his retirement, he spent many days with his friends playing golf.
He is survived by his wife Nita Goldsmith, mother Dollie Mae Goldsmith of Sulphur Springs, sons Danny Goldsmith and wife Brenda, Brashear, Jeff Goldsmith and wife Jena of Point, Texas, Jason Goldsmith of Sulphur Springs, Jeremy Goldsmith and wife Kristina of Sulphur Springs, stepsons David Dunbar of Bagwell, Texas, daughter Sally Derrick and husband Steven of Georgia, stepdaughter Dana Dunbar of Paris, and Debbie Bennett of Paris, brother James Goldsmith and wife Francis of San Marcos, Texas, Twin Sister Barbara McKinnerney of Malakof, Texas, and sister Mary Grandstaff of Dallas, Texas, grandchildren Brandon, Rance, Cole, Bo, Jefferey, Brandon, Corbin, Casson, Kennedy, Mikael, and step-grandson David, one great-grandchild Gabby.

Jonathan Ross

Mr. Ross died at 9:05 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006 in Corsicana.
Charles David Lee
Funeral services for Charles David Lee, 54, of Arlington, formerly of Hopkins County, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment will follow at Black Oak Cemetery.
There will be no formal visitation.
Mr. Lee died Monday, Aug. 7, in San Antonio.
He was born Dec. 6, 1951, in Dallas, the son of Nathan Lee and Margaret Moody Lee Coates.
Survivors include three sons, Barry, Danny and Michael; three daughters, Brandie, Amanda and Missy; his mother, Margaret; seven brothers, Jimmy, Buddy, Johnny, Rip, Tommy, Keith and Bryan; one sister, Marcia; and his grandmother, Polly.
He was preceded in death by his father; and grandparents, Elisha and Viola.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
W.G. 'Pee Wee' Petrea
Memorial services for W.G. "Pee Wee" Petrea, 69, of Brashear, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006 at Brashear Baptist Church with Bro. David Burns officiating.
Mr. Petrea died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006 at his residence.
He was born April 10, 1937, in Saltillo, the son of Clarence and Mary Bell Petrea.
He married Betty Martin on Feb. 5, 1964, in Weaver. She preceded him in death in 1997.
He married Dawn Elizabeth Piersall on May 17, 2005, in Sulphur Springs. She survives.
Mr. Petrea was a retired truck driver for Jerry Gillespie Trucking.
Other survivors include three sons, Billy Petrea of Pine Mills, Tony Petrea of Orr City and Jason Petrea of Cumby; four daughters, Jeannie Beaty of San Saba, Cindy Wilson of Saltillo, and Tina McQueen and Lisa Fouse, both of Sulphur Springs; six step-children; two sisters, Joyce Goodman of Sulphur Springs, and Janet Cox of Winnie; one brother, Kenneth Petrea of California; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, two brothers and one grandson, Joshua Petrea.
Cremation accorded by Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Fran Rowe
Memorial services and visitation for Fran Rowe, 62, of Sulphur Springs, will be held from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Ms. Rowe died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006 at her residence.
She was born Sept. 5, 1943, in Brewster, N.Y., the daughter of Clarence and Maude Walrath.
She married Dwight F. Crocker.
He preceded her in death in 1964.
She married Bill Rowe.
He preceded her in death in 2003.
Survivors include four daughters, Teresa Watson of Winnsboro, and Charlene Mabie, Mary Scott and Bonnie Hogan, all of Sulphur Springs; three sons, Dwight Crocker, Earl Crocker and Bruce Rowe, all of Sulphur Springs; one sister, Nora Luve-Slove of West Palm Beach, Fla., and a host of other brothers and sisters; 16 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Walwrath Jr.; one granddaughter, Samantha Rowe; and one great-granddaughter, Kadence Embry.
Cremation accorded by Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Morris Robert 'Bud' Francis
A memorial service for Morris Robert "Bud" Francis of Phoenixville, PA, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006 in Phoenixville, Pa.
Mr. Francis died Tuesday, July 25, 2006 at his daughter's residence following a brief illness.
He married Phylis Herrmann, who lived in Sulphur Springs, from 1960-1968. She survives.
Mr. Francis was a native of South Glens Fall, NY, but had resided in Phoenixville, PA, with his wife for the last 24 years.
He retired in 2001 after a 46-year career in the automotive aftermarket, for which he traveled all over the world.
Other survivors include his children, Amy Francis, John Francis, Julie Francis, Mark Chiappone and Holly Altmose; grandsons Dominic and John Paul Chiappone; one sister, Lorrie White; and his father-in-law, A.C. Herrmann.

Flossie Marie Tallant
Funeral services for Flossie Marie Tallant, age 89, of Grapevine, formerly of Miller Grove, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at Miller Grove Methodist Church with Rev. Howard Strickland officiating.
Interment will follow at the Miller Grove Cemetery with Dwayne Tallant, Roger Johnson, Mark Johnson, Lynn Johnson, Billy Lynn, and Bill Campbell serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Tallant passed away from this life on Saturday, August 12, 2006 at Baylor Regional Medical Center of Grapevine surrounded by family members and friends.
Mrs. Tallant was born to Annanias and Sarah Burks on December 26, 1916 in Miller Grove.
She married Ernest E. (Ben) Tallant on February 23, 1935 in Miller Grove. He preceded her in death.
Growing up among five children on a farm in Miller Grove, Mrs. Tallant pursued a life centered in her faith in God and devotion to her family.
She enjoyed nature, the outdoors, and farming and ranch work.
She was an avid gardener and bird watcher.
Her beautiful handiwork has been shared with many friends and loved ones throughout the years.
Mrs. Tallant was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who will be greatly missed.
She was also a member of Miller Grove Methodist Church.
She is survived by: two children, son, John E. Tallant, and his wife, Faye, of Hope Arkansas, and daughter, Sharon Tallant, of Grapevine; grandchildren, Dwayne Tallant, and his wife, Tina, of Winona, Connie Neal, and her husband, Robbie, of Columbia, South Carolina, Mark Johnson, and his wife, Sherri, of Hope, Arkansas, Lynn Johnson, and his wife, Melinda, of Hope, Arkansas, and Roger Johnson, of Bismark, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Tallant, Brendan Tallant, Katherine Johnson, Hailey Johnson, Delilah Johnson, Cody Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Tabitha Mason, and her husband, Sam; great-great-grandchildren, Drake Mason and Corbin Mason.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
