Aubrey Clayton
Funeral arrangements for Aubrey Clayton, 88, of Sulphur Springs, are pending with Tapp Funeral Home.
Mr. Clayton died Friday, June 29, 2007 at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital.
Pauline ‘Polly’ Christie
Funeral services for Pauline “Polly” Christie, 87, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home Chapel with Keith Kilmer officiating.
Interment will follow at Pine Forest Cemetery with Paul Aguilar, Roger James, Bobby Richey, Wayne Crump, Jerry Cooksey, Bill Wetzel and Weldon Watkins serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be R.A. Watkins, Gary Christie, Jeremy Christie and Noble Bain.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Christie died at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born in Hopkins County on March 27, 1920, the daughter of James Dewitt and Ethyl Matthews Crump.
She married John D. Christie in Sulphur Springs on April 19, 1942.
He preceded her in death in 1974.
Mrs. Christie was a homemaker.
She was a member of League Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, James Ray Christie and John D. Christie, both of Sulphur Springs; one brother, Newell Crump of Sulphur Springs; three sisters, Lillian Richey and Modena Waller, both of Dallas, and Ellouine Bronner of Arizona; three grandchildren, Jeremy Christie, Gary Christie and Lehia Christie; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Oney Christie; two brothers, Marlin Crump and Curley Crump; and two sisters, Lorece James and Erma Green.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Angie Bence
Funeral services for Angie Bence, 30, of Plano, are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 29, 2007 in the Faith Chapel at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, with the Rev. Neal Jeffrey officiating.
A private family graveside will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Athens, under the direction of Hiett’s LyBrand Funeral Home in Wills Point.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 29, at the church.
She died on Tuesday, June 26, 2007 in a Dallas hospital.
She was born Angela Dawn Dewees April 22, 1977, in Athens, to Steve Dewees and Ann Maddox Dewees.
She was raised in Athens and was a 1995 graduate of Athens High School.
She then attended North Texas University in Denton, from 1995 to 1996.
Angie moved to Plano in 1998, where she soon married and started her family.
She worked at Prestonwood Baptist Church in the main pastoral office, then became the assistant to the executive director of Powerpoint.
She is a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church and participated in the choir and the Dallas Christmas Festival for many years.
Survivors include her mother, Ann Dewees of Athens; father and stepmother, Steve and Mary Jane Dewees of Dike; one son, Ryan Timothy Bence of Plano; two daughters, Lauren Ashley Bence and Allison Avery Bence of Plano; one brother, Howard Neill of Malakoff; one sister, Lara Dewees of Lacoochee, Fla.; and her grandparents, Marguerite Gage of Corsicana, Elvert Maddox and wife, Melba of Strawn, and Betty Dewees of Wills Point.
Donations may be made to the educational fund for her children, Lauren, Ryan and Allison, at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Planoy-Orwosky Funeral Home.
William C. Pritchett
Funeral services for William C. Pritchett, 65, of Poynor, a native of Sulphur Springs, were held Friday, June 15, 2007 at Dogwood Hills Baptist Church in Palestine with the Rev. Kevin Willmott officiating.
Burial followed in Poynor Cemetery with Mike Pritchett, James Pritchett, William Dempsey, Dustin Willmott, Bill Allen and Sonny Stringer serving as pallbearers.
Bruce Williams, Craig Dempsey and Michael Huckabee were honorary pallbearers.
Mr. Pritchett died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at his residence.
William C. Pritchett was born Dec. 15, 1942, in Sulphur Springs, the son of Willie Mae Pritchett and William Cecil Pritchett, Sr.
His father preceded him in death.
Mr. Pritchett was a supervisor for Tyler Pipe.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Pritchett of Pryor; one son, Michael Pritchett of Chapel Hill; three daughters, Marlene Pritchett of Palestine, Darlene Dempsey of Poynor, and Sheila Willmott of Palestine; his mother, of LaRue; two brothers, Roger Pritchett of Corpus Christi, and Albert Pritchett of LaRue; one sister, Linda Williams of Lindale; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Pritchett was also preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Emily Pritchett.
Arrangements were under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Frankston.
Burton Hartnell
Cremation arrangements for Burton Hartnell of Lone Oak, are pending with West Oaks Funeral Home.
Mr. Hartnell died Saturday, June 23, 2007 at his residence.
Lynna E. Taylor Bergin

Ms. Bergin died Sunday, June 24, 2007 at her residence.
Billy Ray, Jr.
Graveside services for Billy Ray Jones, Jr., 54, of Sulphur Springs, were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2007 at Tira Cemetery with Bro. Frank Johnson and Bro. Steve Calavan officiating.
Pallbearers were Charles Plunkett, Ben Flanannery, Scott Buchanan, Delbert Jones, Jimmy Jones and Joey Morris.
Mr. Jones died Thursday, June 21, 2007 at his home.
He was born Jan. 18, 1953, in Wichita Falls, to Billy Ray Jones, Sr. and Mary June Collins.
He married Paula White. She survives.
Other survivors include his mother, Mary June Lufkin; three sons, Stephen Jones, Bobby Ray Jones and Joshua Roberson; one daughter, Trisha Reed; two brothers, Danny Jones and Louis Lufkin; seven grandchildren, Kayla Jones, Ryan Reed, Rustin Reed, Jaylah Roberson, Jaci Roberson, Shelby Jones and Aiden Jones.
He was preceded in death by his father and one son, Daniel Jones.
West Oaks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
