Norwood Leon Tanton
Graveside service for Norwood Leon Tanton, age 91, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at Restlawn Memorial Park with Buddy Wiggins officiating.
Pallbearers will include Anthony Tanton, Brent Tanton, Tim Tanton, Jimmy Ray Skelton and Ronnie Parris.
Bodie Watkins and Jackie Watkins will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Tanton passed away on July 25, 2021.
Mr. Tanton was born on July 11, 1930, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Andrew Jackson and Ida Pearl (McDaniel) Tanton.
He married Doris Reeder on November 25, 1949, in New Mexico.
She preceded him in death in 1999.
Norwood was an Army Veteran.
He worked as a dairy farmer.
Norwood was a loving Papa.
He is survived by his sons, Tony Tanton and wife, Ann, Tim Tanton, Tommy Tanton and wife, Debra, and Terry Tanton; daughter, Donna Hill; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Milus Joseph Tanton.
Norwood was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Debra Moore; grandchildren, Alisha Tanton, Steven Moore and Eric Hill; three brothers; and four sisters.

W.A. Cook, Jr.
Funeral Service for W.A. Cook, Jr., age 82, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with C.J. Duffey officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow at Nelta Cemetery with Christopher Carrel, Justin Coleman, Jenni Coleman, Matthew Covington, Hunter Coleman, and Steven Duncan serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Heckenberg, Wayne Bolton, Joshua Whittaker and Christian Cook.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
W.A. and Patsy were married on October 14, 1990, in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
He was a high school graduate.
He retired as a Master Sergeant in The U.S. Air Force.
While in the Air Force, he served in Vietnam.
He retired after 22 years of serving his country.
He was a highly-respected member of the Sulphur Springs community.
After retiring from the Air Force, he spent 20 years as an insurance agent for American National Insurance.
He was a member of the Honor Guard at the local VFW.
He was also a member of the Lions Club while stationed in Altus, Oklahoma, where he worked with children in the Special Olympics.
He was a very loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He has a special love for animals and rescued many.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Inez Cook, and father, William Andrew Cook; two brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Cook; sons, William Cook, Brian Coleman; daughters, Maryse Underwood, Melissa Covington; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Arnecke and Choice Hospice and staff for their wonderful care and compassion.

Nathaniel Waldrop
Funeral service for Nathaniel Waldrop, age 25, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Bryant officiating.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Nate passed away on July 20, 2021, at Christus Mother Frances – Sulphur Springs.
Nate was born on September 3, 1995.
He is survived by his parents, Michael and Genny (Maynard) Howard and Robert and Yvonne Weir; sisters, Brittany Jealynn Waldrop-Harness, Alexis Howard and Kaylee Howard; brothers, Dayton Howard, Robbie Howard and Joey Howard; and grandparents, Lynette Howard of Desoto, Sherrill Patterson and Judy Maynard.
Nate was preceded in death by his sister, Kodi Dawn; brother, Clessy Howard; grandparents, Gary Maynard and Robert Sires, Bruce and Evelyn Dial, and Theaul and Lurlene Howard.

Kristi Clark
Funeral services for Kristi Dyan Sexton Clark, age 52, of Azle, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 23, 2021, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Johnson officiating.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021, at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bo Carroll, Dalton Carroll, Jesse Carroll, Cameron Johnson, and Matt Fleitman.
Kristi passed away on Monday, July 19, 2021, in Plano.
She was born on November 25, 1968, in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Jerry Oliver Sexton and Clara Louise Gammill Tennison.
She worked in medical billing for many years.
Kristi is survived by husband, Joe Clark; her mother; sons, Carson Wallace, Ben Hunsaker; daughters, Brittney Carroll (Bo), Bridget Wallace; brother, Jeff Sexton (Julie); step-brother, Coy Tennison; sisters, Nicole Johnson, Jennifer Ogilvie (Ceanna); step-sisters, Natasha Anderson, Rachael Zarinque (Troy), Monica Cook (Caleb); and grandchildren, Dakota Hunsaker, Hunter Hunsaker, Jole Carroll, Jesse Carroll, Dalton Carroll, and Kaydee Sexton.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Memorials may be made to Operation Texas Strong 2021.

Ken Kirchoffner
A Memorial Service for Ken Kirchoffner, age 71, of Suphur Springs, Texas, will be held at a later date at North St. Olaf Cemetery in Larson, ND.
Mr. Kirchoffner passed away on July 18, 2021, at home in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
Ken was born on February 3, 1950, in Devil's Lake, ND, to Leo and Grace (Svercl) Kirchoffner.
He graduated from the University of North Dakota.
Ken married Debra Dihle on September 27, 1976, in Columbus, ND.
He was employed by Pan Am as the Supervisor of Maintenance and Transportation at both the Nekoma, ND SAFEGUARD Base, then, transferred to the Washington Trident Naval Submarine Base in Silverdale, WA, until his retirement.
Ken loved to travel, was an avid fisherman and returned to North Dakota every year to hunt with his father and brother.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Kirchoffner; brother, Kerry Kirchoffner; and sisters, Kathy Markel and Kimberly Sass.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Grace Kirchoffner.

A.P. “Pat” Young, Jr.
(October 2, 1937 – July 14, 2021)
Rest eternal grant to him, O Lord;
And let light perpetual shine upon him.
May his soul, and the souls of all the departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. Fr. Pat Young passed away peacefully July 14, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial service will be held at St. Philip’s on Wednesday, July 21, at 2 p.m.
A reception will follow.

Pat graduated in 1955 from Grand Prairie High School in Grand Prairie, Texas, where he met Janet Dotson, the love of his life.
They married in 1958.
Pat went to school at Arlington State College (now UT Arlington) and proudly joined the Texas Air National Guard where he served for eight years.
Pat soon after began his first career in Architecture and building as a construction manager for the 11-state Southwest territory of Sears and Roebuck.
Before retiring from Sears in 1979, Pat answered God’s call to ordained ministry and enrolled part-time in seminary through the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas.
He was ordained to the diaconate in June 1977 and then, so humbly and proudly, to the priesthood on March 18, 1979.
His life in ministry spanned the next 30-odd years all over the Diocese of Dallas.
Pat served at St. Philip’s in Sulphur Springs, for ten years, where he was happiest until his health forced his last retirement in 2007.
He and Janet found their next church home in the loving congregation of St. Dunstan’s, Mineola, where he served part-time for nearly ten years until Alzheimer’s precipitated Janet and Pat’s move to Conway, Arkansas, in 2018, to be near their daughter, Monica and her family.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents and his sister or “Chich,” Carolyn Comstock.
He is survived by his adoring wife of 62 years, Janet Young; son, Paul (Tina) Young of Westcliffe, CO; daughter, Monica (Craig) Dunn of Conway, AR; six grandchildren, Coleman Young, Brianne Young, Chad Stovall, Hannah Ruckle, Isabel Ruckle, and Angela Dunn; brothers, Jim (Kay) Young of Plano, Texas, and Tom (Linda) Young of Mesquite, Texas; along with his nieces, nephews, and so many others who loved and will miss Fr. Pat or Mr. Pat.
Tammy Kay Bennecke
A memorial celebration for Tammy Kay Bennecke, age 55, of Sulphur Springs, will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018 at West Oaks Funeral Home.
Tammy passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at her mother’s home.
Tammy was born on May 21, 1962 in Dallas, TX, the daughter of Plas “Ray” William, Jr. and Mary Kathryn Palmer Williams.
Tammy was the owner of the La Pooch Resort.
Tammy is survived by her mother, Kathryn; son, Derek Cooper and wife, Shelbi; brother, Todd Williams; and grandchildren, Gentri and Gus Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her husband David Mark Bennecke and her father.

Judy Ann Horton Price

Mrs. Price passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 in Sulphur Springs, TX.

Emma Pearl Woods
Funeral service for Emma Pearl Woods, age 102, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Miller Grove United Methodist Church, with Brother Howard Strickland officiating.
Interment will follow at Miller Grove Cemetery with Kent Renshaw, Darren Renshaw, James Oler, Dan Brown, Mike Nabors and Matthew Duckworth serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 P.M. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Emma Pearl Woods died peacefully in Sulphur Springs, on Friday, January 25, 2019.
Emma was born August 14, 1916 in Miller Grove, Texas, and was the seventh child of John and Ida Renshaw.
She married Raymond L. Preston of Miller Grove, in 1932.
They lived in Miller Grove, until the 1950s, when they moved to Ft. Worth, where she worked for Woolworth Co. until the late 1960s, when they returned to Hopkins County, and built a home in Miller Grove.
She continued to live in Miller Grove, and was a lifelong member of the Miller Grove Methodist Church, serving as the Secretary, and later, as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Cemetery Committee.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Preston, in 1977, and later, by her second husband, Joe Woods, in 2009.
She is survived by her nephew, Johnny D. Duckworth of McKinney and her niece, Ora Faye Nabors of Dallas, along with numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Betty Jean Hutson
Graveside service for Betty Jean Hutson, age 91, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 PM. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Memoryland Cemetery, Greenville, with Buddy Wiggins officiating.
There will be no formal visitation.
Mrs. Hutson passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 at her home.
