Services for John K. Echols, 46, of Port Arthur will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harvest Time Bible Church with the Rev. Marvin E. Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Raywood under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Services for Darryl Lynn "Big Cee" Guidry, 37, of Port Arthur will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shilo Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Joseph officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
Vernon Halliburton
NEDERLAND - Vernon Halliburton, 75, of Nederland died Thursday, March 9, 2000 at Mid-Jefferson Hospital in Nederland.
A native of Humble, he was a resident of Nederland for 44 years. He was a retired welder with Texaco with 36 years of service. He was a 50-year member of the Cosmopolitan Lodge No. 872, and a veteran of the Seabees during World War II.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pat Riley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland. Visitation was Friday at the funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Elaine; two sons, Mark Halliburton of Lumberton and Brian Halliburton of Beaumont; two daughters, Melanie Smith of Nederland and Iris Halliburton of Houston; one sister, Vivian Emmert of Nederland; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
Gladys C. Hanscom
ORANGE - Gladys C. Hanscom, 85, of Orange died Friday, March 10, 2000 at Vencor Northwest Hospital in Houston.
A native of Ruston, La., she was a former resident of Port Neches and lived in Orange for over 60 years before moving to Houston three years ago to live with her son. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Orange.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Survivors include one son, James Hanscom of Houston; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren..
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Orange.

GIDDINGS - Frieda Matthijetz, 83, of Giddings died Thursday March 9, 2000, at Fayette Memorial Hospital in La Grange.
A native of Hills, she was a homemaker.
Services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with the Rev. Wilbern Michalk officiating. Burial will be at Giddings City Cemetery.
Survivors include his children Albert and Judy Matthijetz of Giddings, Ruth and Rusty NcDonald of Orange and David and Judy Matthijetz also of Giddings; one sister Erna Prosek of Carmine and eight grandchildren.
DeKylen Rashaud Oliver
DeKylen Rashaud Oliver, infant son of Derrick Oliver and Latonia Washington, both of Port Arthur, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, at Park Place Medical Center.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Memorial Park Babyland under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
Additional survivors include two sisters; Kendesja Ceasar and Kendall Ceasar, both of Port Arthur; a brother, Denzel Washington of Port Arthur; his grandparents, Delores Washington, Lava Oliver and Anthony Oliver, all of Port Arthur, and Ruben Yoakum of LaMarque; his great-grandparents, Mary Coleman, Mary Scott and Willie Scott, all of Port Arthur; and a host of other relatives and friends.

CROSBY - Effie Ruth Poydence, 76, of Crosby died Wednesday, March 8, 2000 at her home.
She was a homemaker who reared 10 children.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Saint Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church in Huffman with the Rev. George Olsovsky officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Greenlawn Garden of Resurrection Cemetery in Port Arthur. Visitation and a rosary were recited Friday at the Sterling White Chapel in Highlands.
Survivors include two sons, John Poydence of Bridge City and Andy Poydence of Groves; eight daughters, Marion Phillips of Crosby, Jean Slovak, Alice Cornell, all of Crosby, Lucy Blanchette of Warren, Anna Tavarez of San Antonio, Kathy Daggett of Sheldon and Fran Ivy, both of Sheldon and Susie Thompson of Spring; one brother, George Dyson of Nederland; one sister, Addie Buxton of Silsbee; 32 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
